Hello Games has revealed that it's planning to release Joe Danger Infinity on 9th January. The developer noted the release date in an interview with Polygon, where studio founder Sean Murray explained that the team was still on schedule despite its office getting flooded. "We're here in a cramped little upstairs room, with makeshift PCs and water slowly rising to the electrics ... because we have a game to release!"ORIGINAL STORY: And you were worried four-person indie developer Hello Games had taken on too much with ultra ambitious science fiction game No Man's Sky. The Guildford studio has just revealed it's been working in secret on a new iOS game called Joe Danger Infinity - and it's out soon."We've been incredibly proud of Joe Danger Touch since we released it last January," Hello Games' Sean Murray told Eurogamer."The success it achieved (number one on the App Store in lots of countries, like the US and UK) totally took us by surprise. Right at the end of his life, Joe has had probably his biggest success."Stevie [Burgess] was the main programmer on that, and I guess he always felt we had some unfinished business on iOS. It felt that Joe Danger Touch was something that had already existed on console, and he wanted us to do something totally new, just for iOS - where so so many people were enjoying it."We went back and tried making a Joe Danger that's completely fresh and new. It's coming really soon, it's called Joe Danger Infinity and it's genuinely beautiful. I'm super proud."

So Lenovo announced a whole bunch of all-in-ones, you say? You'll have to be a little more specific than that. In addition to unveiling a trio of Windows-based models, the company announced two more that run Android. These include the consumer-friendly N308 and the ThinkVision 28, a 4K machine destined for the workplace (pictured above). Starting with the consumer model (this is CES, after all), it costs a reasonable $450 and, accordingly, comes with some fairly middling specs -- notably, a 19-inch, 1,600 x 900 display and a spinning hard drive with up to 500 gigs of space. That big display aside, you're basically looking at an oversized tablet, with Android 4.2 installed and a quad-core Tegra 4 SoC running the show. Like other all-in-ones Lenovo's released over the past year, this one's portable, with a battery rated for three hours. At 10 pounds, though, give or take, it's actually a good deal lighter than that other portable desktop Lenovo just announced.
As for the ThinkVision model, it's crowned by a 28-inch, 3,840 x 2,160 display, allowing you to poke around Android 4.3 at a screen density of 157 pixels per inch. Note that the OS interface is actually upscaled from a 1080p resolution, but we were told that all 4K content is played in its native resolution. Additionally, the machine uses NFC and a "tap to connect" feature to pair devices, though you could also hook them up using one of the four USB ports, three HDMI sockets or the micro-USB connection.
Want the same screen quality, but can do without the NFC and Tegra guts? Lenovo is also selling the ThinkVision Pro2840m, which has a similar 28-inch, 3,840 x 2,160 screen (and a staid, less flexible design). As it turns out, the monitor arrives first, priced at $799 with shipments expected to begin in April. The ThinkVision 28 will follow in July, with prices starting at $1,199.

When Motorola said that a CDMA version of the Moto G would reach the US in January, it was being overly cautious. Best Buy has confirmed that it's already selling the Verizon edition of the budget smartphone in its retail stores; as soon as a store has inventory, you can pick one up. And it's cheap, too. At $100 off-contract, Verizon's Moto G is less expensive than both its GSM equivalent and many slower, smaller devices. You won't get to pick up the handset until after New Year's Day, but we have a hunch that it will be worth the wait.
Update: If you're not willing to make a pilgrimage to Best Buy, Verizon will begin selling the Moto G through its online store on January 9th at the same contract-free $100 price. Retail stores should get their units in the "coming weeks."

AT&T is clearly worried that T-Mobile's recent success may be coming at its own expense -- it just launched a promotion that gives T-Mobile customers up to $450 to switch to Big Blue. The deal offers converts a minimum of $200 once they've subscribed to a smartphone plan, plus up to $250 more if they trade in an existing phone. There's no mention of when the promo will end, although it's described as a "limited time" offer. The deal may be tempting if you're already inclined to jump ship, although you'll want to do the math before you leave. While AT&T will now cut your bill when off-contract, T-Mobile's contract-free rates could be lower depending on the device you buy; it may be cheaper in the long run.

Fancy making your own social media commentary during the big game? Yahoo Sports for iOS now lets you capture those monster dunks in animated GIF form. The company has officially labeled the creations Loops, and users can add their own commentary as captions on top of the moving picture. As you might expect, files can then be shared via Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and e-mail. Not to be left out, the app was revamped for iOS 7 with speedier performance in its sneakers. Fewer than half are thought to be operable.
Talk of an Apple iWatch has been around for more than a year, and yet no such device has materialised.
Back in July, Apple CEO Tim Cook had supposedly considered totally scrapping the troublesome ticker due to 'hard engineering and design problems.'
Six months later and nothing as changed, as DigiTimes reports the Apple iWatch is struggling from the intricate metal injection moulding process, which is resulting in fewer than 50 per cent production rates.
Apple isn't alone, however, with Qualcomm's Toq wrist gizmo said to be suffering from the same issue.
The smartwatch market is becoming increasingly crowded, as Nike and ZTE are among the companies releasing new products this year – in fact, ZTE hasdiscussed smartshoes.

The NFC wristband lets users make common actions on their device just by tapping.
Startup, Haloband is a new way to control features on an Android smartphone in a quick and easy manner.
It integrates six of your most used functions such as unlocking a device, using the flashlight, taking photos, or playing music. Each can be used by tapping a different part of the band on the phone.
The startup company aimed to raise $10,000 on Kickstarter; however have so far managed to pocket $20,028, suggesting that people are eager to get their hands – or wrists – around one of the bands.
NFC-enabled devices are increasingly popular, with more than half a billion expected to be sold during 2014 – so it is not surprising that the demand for gadgets that utilise this function is also rising.
The silicon band will be available in three sizes and seven colours. It will work with an Android app that ensures only the person wearing the band can access the phones functions.
Creators of Haloband, said: “Smartphones are amazing, but complicated for some. We aim to make them easy and simple for most people. Since some technology has been too cool for some, we aim to make it sexy and fashionable.”
The band is not restricted to smartphones, it can also be used to access door that require security cards, check-in to events using NFC, and pass out your information to other phones.
It is also the first NFC band to include a free online cloud account available all over the world.

Clumsy Ninja is the App Store hit which turns the titular assassin into a kind of physics-powered virtual pet.
With so many studios lamenting the current state of the mobile games market, it’s a little surprising to find so few actively trying something different. Many millions of new iOS and Android devices were unwrapped and eagerly filled with new apps this Christmas, and yet, compared to the great flood of infinite runners, free-to-play town builders and other familiar mobile fare, apps like Clumsy Ninja and Toca Hair Salon represent the tiniest trickle. They’re digital toys rather than videogames, and their chart performance suggests that creating interactive entertainment for tablets and mobile needn’t rely on traditional videogame structures. If anything, breaking free of familiar game ideas – of challenge, testing player skill, progression and failstates – opens up a broader, more freeform and ultimately more accessible kind of play. The studios behind these games, NaturalMotion and Toca Boca, appear to have have understood this more than most. Clumsy Ninja, Toca Lab and Toca Hair Salon 2 have been fixtures near the top of the App Store charts for weeks, and for good reason – they are all smartly designed apps with high production values and cheery playfulness at their heart. And yet compared to the number of games going live on the App Store every week, there’s a surprising lack of these playthings. Or at least, there’s a surprising lack of digital toys this good.“There are so many blue oceans – unexplored genres that are ready to be invented or re-invented,” says NaturalMotion CEO Torsten Reil. “We’ve never understood why so many studios just clone other games. You end up competing for the same audience and spending more and more cash on user acquisition. The only way to get off that hamster wheel is to create something new and fresh; and preferably something that can’t be easily copied.”

With a second movie on the way later this year, How To Train Your Dragon is the star of a new iOS and Facebook game.
Be warned, however – this kids game is just the latest in a long line to feature some eye-watering prices for its in-app-purchases.
Apps Playground reports that Gem packs – the game’s currency – vary in price from £2.99 (for 525) all the way up to £69.99 (for 11,500).
There’s also the chance to sign up for membership to the School of Dragons for £6.99 for one month or £57.99 for the year.
The game itself is an MMO of sorts that focuses on actual science learning and also allows players to supplement their PC experience by managing their activities with the associated iOS app.

The tablet maker is making a detachable mobile game controller called the Gamevice
Wikipad, maker of the eponymous 7-inch Android tablet, announced today its entry into the mobile controllers market as well. The company is creating a detachable mobile games controller called the Gamevice, which offers a "flex bridge" design so that the controller can collapse and expand to fit a variety of mobile devices.
Similar to a modern console controller, the Gamevice features dual analog sticks, both L1/R1 and L2/R2 analog buttons, an analog D-pad, and four analog action buttons. A release date and price has not yet been set.
"We value the opinions of our community. We heard from many people who either expressed love for the Wikipad 7" or who already owned an iPad or an Android or Windows 8 mobile device and wanted us to make a controller that worked for them. We are currently working on versions for Windows 8 and Android devices. We have not forgotten other important OS systems and we hope to announce additional support for those in the near future," said Fraser Townley, President of Wikipad, Inc.
While more companies have been announcing specialty controllers for Android and iPhone of late, it's not clear that developers or consumers are actually embracing the new controllers. Mobile developers that GamesIndustry International spoke to on the subject seemed pretty skeptical about the impact these controllers will have.
As for Wikipad, the company today also announced a downloadable update for its main product. The tablet can now be upgraded to Android 4.2 Jelly Bean; the new update brings with it controller support, a copy of Dead Trigger 2 from Madfinger Games and several free games from WildTangent.

Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed has launched on iOS and Android for a mere £2.99 / $4.99, a fraction of the price of its console brethren. This mobile port includes all of the console game's content with new additions such as a brand new World Tour and Shenmue lead Ryo Hazuki piloting a mobile arcade cabinet that transforms into a spaceship and hovercraft. This is actually Hazuki's second appearance in the kart-racing series as he was featured as DLC in the previous Sega racer, Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing, in which he drove his trademark forklift.Astute viewers will notice Hazuki's license plate teases "Shen 3," but unfortunately this is only a joke rather than an actual hint of a real announcement. "Don't get too excited over the number plate," noted developer Sumo Digital on the Sega forums. "It is of course a tongue in cheek reference to just how long it's taking for Sega to get that third part out."Eurogamer features editor Martin Robinson was a big fan of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed upon its console launch at the end of 2012. "This manages to be more than just a tribute to the great and good of Sega's past - it does enough to earn its own place alongside them," he wrote in his review of the PS3 version of the game.

Sony may release a smartphone running Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS this year, according to a new report.
The Information claims that Sony has already developed a prototype Windows Phone handset and held preliminary discussions with Microsoft.
Sony has exclusively made smartphones powered by Android software for almost four years, but it appears that may change this year. According to a ‘person involved in the talks’, a Sony Windows phone could launch as soon as mid-2014.
The report also suggests that Microsoft plans to work with China’s ZTE to launch low-end Windows Phone handsets in Asia, Europe and the US.

The 4.6 per cent loss on stock price value is due to investors who are nervous about the company’s mobile future.
Even though analysts have estimated that Samsung will see profit growth in its mobile sector, it will likely be lagging behind that of the previous quarter, reports TechCrunch.
The company has kicked off 2014 on the wrong foot, with a 4.6 per cent loss of stock price, resulting in more than $8 billion decrease in market value.
Investors are losing faith in the company’s mobile business, which it is reckoned future gain s in the sector are soon to come to an end.
One of the main factors that is impacting Samsung, is the price pressure entering smartphone sales – with devices such as Google’s Nexus setting the high, with higher-end devices at lower-end prices.
Google has also recently reduced the price of its Moto X – one of its flagship devices - to $399, plus offers value for money with the Moto G priced at $179.
To compete, Samsung would have to push prices lower than usual as budget devices become increasingly important, dragging down the overall profit of the mobile space.

If everything goes according to plan, "early 2014" should see the debut of FTL: Advanced Edition, a free expansion for intergalactic roguelike FTL: Faster Than Light adding a new alien species and new subsystems for your ship, among a host of other features.
Like oversized metal locusts, the Lanius are driven by an insatiable desire to consume. Unlike locusts however, the Lanius subsist on metals and have no need for biological processes such as eating or breathing. While a lack of air might choke out less virulent species, the Lanius just shrug it off, completely removing their need for functioning life support systems on board a ship.
Surprisingly, this apathy toward oxygen may be a beneficial adaptation as members of the Lanius species innately drain all oxygen from the air surrounding them. As you'd expect, this makes them poor diplomats but excellent candidates for a boarding party.
Along with the new race comes new subsystems and drones. These include a new battery backup subsystem which provides reserve power in a pinch and a drone designed specifically to hunt and destroy other drones. Helpfully, developer Subset Games will introduce a third layout option for every ship found in FTL that should offer a bit more room for your new gadgets.
If booting up your laptop or desktop computer seems too strenuous, you'll be happy to know that FTL: Advanced Edition will also be appearing on iOS, marking the game's first appearance on a mobile platform.
