Remember all the fun you had standing in line to get a Wii because Nintendo couldn't put them out fast enough? Sweet, because if you want an iPhone, you're going to get to do it all over again.
On top of no pre-orders, Merrill Lynch (respectable analysts, but analysts nonetheless) is estimating that Apple will only be punching out around 200-300 thousand iPhones a month initially before speeding up to a million by the end of the year, for a total of four million shipped this year.

The Vintage Game Boy iPod Case is not just another modder showing off—it's an actual, 100% purchasable product.

Made from a real black & white Game Boy, the buttons have been mapped to the iPod functions for full non-scrollwheel control. A headphone jack sits at the bottom of the unit as well, but the case falls short in that there is no way to charge or sync your iPod through it. And the display face is a bit on the ugly.
For those still craving the retro cool, grab one of your own for $30. Just be sure to note that the case works with Minis and Nanos only, and it may really piss Apple engineers off.

I would be more than surprised if the Gionee S20 made it to Europe - because Gionee would probably have to fight a legal battle or two first.
Primarily, that would be with Nintendo - the Chinese manufacturer isn't likely to have asked permission from the Japanese gaming giant to fit an NES emulator into their latest mobile handset, especially as it picks up the games from illegal ROMs and has an adaptor so you can play on your TV. But if you can pick one up (maybe on a holiday or business venture), this slider handset also packs a two megapixel camera and a media player, so it's probably worth considering - if only for novelty value.
No news on price - but I'm guessing it's probably a cheapie in its native territory.

Steve Jobs stated at the unveiling of the iPhone that their goal is to capture 1% of the market by the end of 2008. If the recent poll by M:Metrics is accurate then Apple's new phone will blow past that figure before this year is up.
According to the poll, which was released on Friday and surveyed 11,060 U.S. mobile subscribers, in the US 9% of cell phone users have strong interest in buying the iPhone. That figure was even stronger in the UK where 16% of 5,293 mobile subscribers said they had strong interest. "This data confirms that the iPhone has sparked the imaginations of consumers and is not merely a topic of conversation among insiders and technology enthusiasts," SVP M:Metrics Mark Donovan stated in the company press release.

Nokia continues to extoll the virtues of its new N-Gage games platform, having just hosted two special workships for mobile games developers and developers in China and Japan.
The workshops, which took place today, June 14th and earlier in the week on June 12th, disclosed further platform details, including the development environment, tools and business ecosystem.
"We’re excited to grow our relationships with publishers in China and Japan and give them the opportunity to become deeply familiar with the details of our N-Gage offering," says Gregg Sauter, director of games publishing, Nokia.
"The China and APAC regions are full of potential and extremely important to Nokia. The region is also home to a lot of mobile innovation and well established brands that have incredible potential in other parts of the world through the reach of this platform."

In a complete reversal of its "not enthusiastic" stance on touchscreens voiced last week by Antti Vasara, the company's General Manager of Mobile Devices, Nokia has come out in favor of that completely unproven little technology. "Optical sensors and touch will be the next big things," said Nokia Chief Technology Officer Tero Ojanpera today, in the leadup to the CommunicAsia telecom fair. "I believe there will be a lot of innovation around these." Apparently he didn't get the "people don't like touchscreens" memo. And it's really too bad that Nokia's still waiting for demand to pep up before jumping into those scary waters, it'd be a shame to miss out on the "next big thing."

An eyebrow-raising rumor has it that Nintendo and Apple have teamed up to bring games to the iPhone, with $29 Nintendo games coming to the touchscreen device within a few months of launch. The games are said to use a touchscreen d-pad for control, although what kinds of games the big N will make aren't made clear.
OK, what?
Using a touchscreen keyboard will be annoying enough, but trying to play videogames using touchscreen controls? That sounds downright infuriating. And since when did Nintendo make games for anything but Nintendo systems? And don't they already have a portable device with a touchscreen that's insanely popular? There's not a lot that makes sense in this rumor, and as much as the Apple and Nintendo fanboy populations would explode in ecstasy if it happened, it seems like a big steamy pile of wishful thinking to me. We'll see, I guess.

Vilmos has updated the port of Mame for the Tapwave Zodiac, heres whats new:
- Wow. Well I decided it was time to upgrade. So this is almost half-way to my goal of updating to the base MAME 0.37b16
- So all new working original games from 0.37b1 to 0.37b6 are supported unless they had known problems in which case they are disabled.
- This makes the file sizes significantly larger as there are updated cpu cores, some new ones and a ton of games.
- Hacked the CAVE games (Dangun Feveron, Esp Ra. De. and DoDonPachi) to work with palms limited memory. You must turn off the sound to make these games work and (you might want to sit down) YOU WILL NEED AT LEAST 60MEGS of free RAM to play them. They work pretty well on the Zodiac though, quite playable.
- Speedups will be added once the code base is stable again. Anyone wanting to help optimize the speed should contact me! Although nothing will be done until I hit the highest MAME version before the speed drops off.
- Artwork has been updated to support later versions of backgrounds.
- High scores now save and load properly (need a hiscore.dat in your palmmame dir)
- Smash TV and Total Carnage now work!

Some Gizmondo news after a long absence, heres what Zodttd posted about his PSX emulator for the Gizmondo:
I'm still here. I've been working slowly on psx4gp2x. By working on psx4gp2x, I can carry over that work to the gizmondo since they both have ARM processors.
psx4giz is based on psx4all. psx4all runs all the way back to when I ported PCSX to the Tapwave Zodiac. It still has a long way to go. I've been on and off working on it ever since I made it for the Zodiac.
It got very difficult to port psx4gp2x to psx4giz due to the use of templates being strongly used in the renderer. I now have VS 2005 and will try giving it a compile using my latest psx4gp2x sources. Wish me luck. If not, I'll land up having to use CeGCC which makes much slower performing binaries.
