This is a port of the Raven/Id first person shooter game Hexen. It incorporates pieces of heavily modified code from several of Peter van Sebille projects, along with much of my own work. This port has been verified to work on A920 phones, but is expected to work on A925, A1000, P800, P900, & P910 phones as well. This port has working 8 channel sound, games can be saved and loaded, the screen can be configured for landscape right or left mode, and many of the phones buttons are configurable and usable in the game.
Controls. The game play is controlled via the keys and/or touch screen. There are quite a few on-screen buttons used within the game play. Four hard key's are during game play. Here's a run-down of the hard keys and on-screen buttons:
Direction Keys - used for the basic up, down, left, right movement
Touch Screen Navigation - touch screen can be used to move around as well. Press the touch screen and make a motion in the direction of the desired movement.
Platform hard keys sould be mapped to Fire, Use, Jump, Strafe Toggle, & Fly Toggle features. All five of these are configurable via the Options menu of the app. The Strafe Toggle feature allows you to toggle on or off strafe movement (side-ways while still looking forward) The Fly Toggle feature allows you to toggle on or off flying mode, in which the up and down keys (or touch screen) are used to fly up and down.
Enter & Esc On-Screen keys - used to enter or exit or select within the Hexen menu
Virtual Keyboard On-Screen key - turns on or off the virtual keyboard
1/2/3/4/5/6/7 On-Screen keys - used to switch weapons within the game
Map On-Screen key - used to view the levels map
Square On-Screen key - map-able to any of the above configurable key features via the Options menu
Y/N On-Screen keys - used for two purposes, first to answer Y/N questions within the Hexen menu Second, 'N' is used to select an inventory item and 'Y' is used to "Use" the selected item
Load/Save On-Screen key - short cuts to the Hexen menu game Load & Save options.
Place WAD file on the memory card in "\Media files\document\hexen", the game will look for them there.

I think I know the answer to this question, but...
Is it possible to modify an iPod so that it can play more than just the supported audio files (.mp3, .aac, etc.)? I'm specifically interested in playing .nsf, .spc, and .psf on an iPod. If you could do this, I would buy an iPod in a heartbeat.

From the Too Little, Too Late, Not That It Could Ever Be Enough Department: Nokia is rolling out the N-Gage QD Silver Edition, a new silver-colored version of the gamephone everybody loves to hate on. Exactly the same as the regular black version, but Nokia’s only sharing the QD Silver Edition love with Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Yeah, we know how jealous this gonna make all the kids in America.

Finnish mobile phone giant Nokia has announced that it's to launch a silver version of the N-Gage QD game deck this autumn across the EMEA territories - Europe, the middle East and Africa.
The new version of the hardware, which will be launched on September 1st in the various markets, is the first update to the N-Gage QD since it launched in mid-2004 - less than nine months after the launch of the first N-Gage.
"We have had a lot of requests from both consumers and trade to provide an N-Gage QD variant," according to Nokia's global sales director for the games business, Jukka Hosio. "We chose silver as it's one of the season's most fashionable colours."
Although it's largely disappeared off the radar for most game news outlets, Nokia also continues to support the N-Gage with a wide range of software releases - including titles such as ONE, System Rush, High Seize and Pathway To Glory Ikusa Islands.

Hi
I have a 3rd generation iPod, and I need to turn the contrast all the way for the text to be legible. After updating to the most recent firmware, things improved slightly, but is there a way to change the default contrast, or a hack of the firmware to acheive this? I've gone into diagnostics mode, and the changes in contrast are only temporary. Thanks

We’ve seen iPod speaker systems come and go (mostly go), and it’s pretty fair to say at this point that if you’re going to bring one to market, it’s got to stand out from the rest. Sure, i-deck’s iPod Music System might not trump Ignitek’s Judge Reinhold-size iCarrier speaker cab, but at least it does come in the surprisingly spacially inefficient shape of a parallelogram. And yes, it’s also going to set you back a couple hundred bucks.

Okay, whenever you stop guffawing and come back to read this, we’ll tell ya that we had the same reaction to this thing — Ignitek’s iCarrier speaker system for the iPod is, shall we say, an unusually designed unit. Standing over three feet tall, it totally dwarfs that poor lil’ iPod, there. iLounge had some quality time with the iCarrier and found “surprisingly good sound,” for the $249.99 price, although no earth-shaking bass — and falling somewhat short of the “true hi-fidelity sound” promised by its makers. They like that it comes with a remote and hardware that allows any generation iPod to be attached, but some of the parts felt on the cheap side. But hey, if you’re looking for iPod speakers of unusual size, this would be it.

It would be so like a tennis match if only all the analysts would wear those cute little skirts. Now the word is supposely not to expect the video iPod to see the light of day within the next twelve months. Piper Jaffray senior analyst Gene Munster thinks higher capacity iPod shuffles, yes, and color iPod minis, yes — both before the end of the year. But not so fast on that video iPod, there, buckaroo, because Jobs is still saying the portable media center market isn’t there yet. Whatevs, Munster, you new or sumthin’? Falling for the old Jobs trick? What say you peeps — video iPod before the end of the year, or no?

After a number of reports emerged this week stressing concern over Gizmondo's imminent launch in the U.S, the company handling the handheld machine's affairs has responded with a dismissal of the rumours and news of a delayed launch.
Previous accounts in the U.S regarding Gizmondo expressed concern after little information or marketing build-up for the machine had surfaced, with the launch originally scheduled for August 11th. A representative from Gizmondo Europe spoke to GamesIndustry.biz to clarify the situation.
"We're moving the release date, which is why there hasn't been anything promotion-wise yet," said the representative. "The new release date is now October for the North American Gizmondo launch. More details will be released next week. There will be a launch event, but at present it's not been decided where or when."
The slip has been attributed to the lack of two key titles to the territory, a satellite navigation package and "major" unnamed US game. "August is a slow month for retail, and with these two major items of software delayed, it made little sense to launch the machine," said our source.
Further to this, he revealed that the company is suffering a hardware shortage, which would hamper its ability to release Gizmondo across the US as initially planned. It is hoped that the October date will allow more time for distribution as well as giving time for the opening of a Los Angeles office for a Gizmondo specific R&D team and a dedicated marketing staff to couple the current sales team.
He also vehemently refuted the claims of staff downsizing in the London flagship store on Regent Street. "There's the same number of staff and the machine is shifting enough stock. Even then the store is meant to be a technical showcase, there for brand experience, not a box shifting exercise, much like when people go to the Apple shop while getting iPods from somewhere else. It's a focal point for the branding."
Sales figures are expected to be published for Gizmondo soon, with our source stating: "Until the appropriate SEC filings have been made, we're unable to make a statement. We can tell you that we're extremely pleased with sales in the UK so far, and the retail roll-out continues."
Meanwhile, Gizmondo Europe has published this month's game line-up for the handheld, with Classic Compendium, Ball Busters, EA Sports FIFA Football 2005, and SSX 3 all due during the next four weeks. Point of Destruction will be the first of this new batch, releasing this Friday for UKP 9.99.

Maybe it's just my sci-fi minded nature, but when someone says the word "tripod" the first images that comes to mind are disintegration rays and the end of the world as we know it. Yanko Design has released the Boomtune Mini Tripod that is a combination stand and speaker system for your iPod (actually works with any MP3 player.) One AAA player will power this little guy for 10 hours, which is enough time to demolish at least three metropolitan cities. If we had the time, money, and inclination we'd hire Spielberg to remake War of the Worlds with these little guys, with Lego people. Oh - and a Smurf Village, burning in flames too, covered in "blue weed." That would ROCK.

According to AppleInsider, a patent filed in 2002 by a Microsoft researcher has prompted the US Patent and Trademark Office to reject an Apple application to patent its iPod user interface.
But leave the black helicopters grounded for a moment: the conspiracy theories may not be flightworthy.
The AppleInsider story says the Apple application "to patent the menu-based software interface of its popular iPod digital music player has ultimately proved unsuccessful."
However that isn't the case. The story is coy about the patents it discusses, doesn't mention the Microsoft connection and upon further research, it's clear that several key aspects of the iPod are adequately covered by separate Apple IP applications. Both patents discussed have weathered multiple rejections by the USPTO.
The story reports that last month an iPod-related patent application for "rotational user inputs" by Apple was rejected, with the examiner citing an earlier 2002 application filed by John Platt. A Microsoft Research scientist who used to work for touch pad vendor Synaptics, Platt filed a claim for "playlist generation based on seed items" on May 30 2002, some seven months after the iPod was unveiled.
Comparing the two applications, it's hard to see how they overlap. AppleInsider claims "the process by which the iPod's software displays its own menu-based interface is very similar to the process Platt's filing goes on to describe." Such a similarity eluded us, although you can judge for yourselves - the links are at the end of this report.
Apple's application, assigned to iTunes engineer Jeffrey Robbins, Apple CEO Steve Jobs and VP of marketing Phil Schiller, was made on September 26 2002, and describes rotating an input device to navigate in a linear fashion through a user interface. "Although the type of computing device can vary, the improved approaches are particularly well-suited for use with a portable media player," according to the filing.
AppleInsider reports that the rotational patent has been rejected by the USPTO. However, this isn't as final as the statement suggests. "Non-Final Rejections" (NFR) of this kind aren't unusual. Patents are frequently bounced back to the inventor, and many successful patents are accepted only after several NFRs. For example, an Amazon.com e-commerce patent we wrote about recently succeeded at the fifth attempt in four years.
Apple's rotation application, we discover, received its first NFR on September 29, 2004 and was bounced again on June 13 this year.
But Platt's playlist application also has a rejection history. It received an NFR on 17 November 2002, and a more serious Final Rejection on 14 June 2004. After further documentation was received, and extension granted, the application received another NFR on 11 December last year.
Apple has filed a number of applications to protect the iPod and iTunes user interfaces, including 60/359,551 ("Touch Pad for Handheld Device") and 60/387,692 ("Method and Apparatus for Use of Rotational User Inputs").
Apple is facing two infringement suits claiming the iPod violates existing IP

Advertisers fear their messages may get edited out by the growing band of iPod listeners, writes Paul Durman
PERSONAL video recorders, such as Sky+, are already scaring the living daylights out of television advertisers, fearful that viewers will quickly learn to fast-forward through the commercials. Now the podcasting phenomenon is posing a similar threat to commercial radio.
Podcasting can make radio broadcasts and other audio files available over the internet, allowing them to be downloaded and saved on an iPod or similar digital music player.
Since podcasting started to gain popularity last autumn, it has quickly been embraced by conventional radio companies, in addition to the many amateur broadcasters who were the first to adopt the technology. The BBC and Virgin Radio are both in the vanguard of those experimenting with podcasts.
It is easy to see the appeal. Podcasting breaks down the temporal and geographical limitations of radio. If you want to listen to the Today programme in Toronto at 10pm, you can.
Chris Kimber, head of radio interactive at the BBC, said feedback from listeners had been “overwhelmingly” positive. “The feedback is: ‘We absolutely love this. When are you going to start offering more of your programmes like this?’” The BBC trial includes the Chris Moyles show from Radio 1, as well as the main interview from the Today programme and Radio 4’s From Our Own Correspondent. Kimber said: “You can listen to it on a plane or on holiday in France. You can take it with you.”
He said the BBC was keen to ensure that radio remained relevant to a mobile generation growing up with the iPod.
The danger, at least for commercial broadcasters, is that the podcast generation will stop listening to the advertisements. It is almost as easy to skip ads with a digital music player as it is with a Sky+ box.
Roger Parry, the chairman of ClearChannel International, part of America’s biggest radio company, said: “You have exactly the same sort of issues that you have with a Sky+ box.
“The conventional, 30-second spot is threatened. The more power you have to listen to something under your control the less likely you are to sit through (an advertisement).”
Audiences could also fragment if podcasting takes off in a big way. That could have commercial implications. Our listener in Toronto is not very valuable to an advertiser offering tool hire in Tooting.
But there will also be new opportunities. James Cridland, head of new-media strategic development at Virgin Radio, said: “We believe we can reach new audiences for our advertisers that we otherwise couldn’t. It’s a great marketing tool.
“There are a lot of people who will be able to sample what our breakfast show is all about who perhaps would not have otherwise listened to Virgin Radio.”
Virgin’s Pete and Geoff breakfast show began daily podcasting in March, the first such move by a British radio station.
The podcast is stripped of the news, weather and travel information that would date it. More awkwardly, for copyright reasons Virgin also has to remove the music.
Cridland said: “What you end up with is the best of our breakfast show and what people tune in for — which apart from the music is the entertaining and wry observations on the world.”

Jobs made no secret of iPod's challenge to Sony during his presentation, telling the crowd that the iPod was outselling Sony's latest star product, the PlayStation Portable, or PSP. Sony sold about 2 million PSPs in the last quarter but Apple shipped more than 6 million iPods during that same time.
Offerings from Japanese artists on Sony labels aren't available on iTunes, said Sony Music Entertainment spokeswoman Kiyono Yoshinaga.
"We are in talks with Apple, but we have not reached an agreement at this time," she said, while declining to give details

Apple today announced that music fans in Japan have purchased and downloaded more than one million songs from the iTunes® Music Store since its launch just four days ago. With over 90 percent of the songs priced at just ¥150 per song, the iTunes Music Store in Japan features a mix of local favorites and popular international artists, with Japanese artists claiming both the number one song (Def Tech) and the number one album (Ulfuls).
“iTunes has become Japan’s number one online music store in just four days,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iTunes has sold twice as many songs in just four days as all the other online music services in Japan sell in one month.”

Music lovers who paid extra for their iPods because of a levy will soon be able to get their money back, Apple Canada announced Monday.
"Apple is pleased that the Supreme Court of Canada let stand a lower court ruling that blank media levies on iPods are invalid, and will shortly announce a claims process so consumers can request a refund for the levies they paid," the company said in a release.
In July, the Supreme Court refused to overturn a Federal Court of Canada ruling that quashed the levy, which was applied to iPods and similar digital music players. The tax had been passed on to consumers by companies like Apple and was collected by the Canadian Private Copying Collective, a non-profit agency that works on behalf of musicians and record companies. The levy was in effect from December 2003 until a year later, when the Federal Court overturned it.
The Canadian Coalition for Fair Digital Access, which represents retailers and manufactures like Future Shop, Wal-Mart Canada, Apple Canada, Sony Canada and Dell Computer Corporation of Canada, had lobbied to have it abolished. The tariff was $2 for non-removable memory capacity of up to one gigabyte, $15 for one to 10 GB, and $25 for more than 10 GB. About $4 million was collected by the CPCC from sales of iPods and the like during the tariff's one-year life.
The CPCC got the levy instituted in the first place because it successfully argued that iPod users were making illegal copies of songs, so money should be collected on behalf of the copyright holders. Details of how to apply for the refund from Apple were not announced on Monday.

If you’re an iPod hater there’s at least one country you can move to where the iPod ain’t king: South Korea. Not sure whether the Koreans are immune to Apple’s marketing or simply prefer to keep things in the family, but a new survey released by GfK Marketing Services Korea earlier today puts three homegrown manufacturers in the top three (ReignCom/iRiver came in first place with 31% marketshare, Samsung was 2nd with 14%, and Cowon was 3rd with 13%). And Apple? They came in 13th place after garnering a mere 1.8% of the market.

Apple Computer may be forced to pay royalties to Microsoft for every iPod it sells after it emerged that Bill Gates's software giant beat Steve Jobs' firm in the race to file a crucial patent on technology used in the popular portable music players. The total bill could run into hundreds of millions of dollars.
Although Apple introduced the iPod in November 2001, it did not file a provisional patent application until July 2002, and a full application was filed only in October that year. In the meantime, Microsoft submitted an application in May 2002 to patent some key elements of music players, including song menu software. Apple and Microsoft were two of several companies that developed portable players, but the iPod, with its sleek design and user-friendly controls, has dominated the market.
IPods make up three of every four portable music players bought in the US and account for almost one-third of Apple's sales. Piper Jaffray, a US analyst, believes Apple will sell 25 million iPods this year, bringing the total sold in the four years since its launch to 35 million.
In July, the US Patent and Trademark Office rejected Apple's application, saying some ideas were similar to an earlier application filed by a Microsoft employee, John Platt. The dispute, which emerged this week on the closely watched website, Appleinsider.com, could lead to Apple having to pay a licence fee for the technology of up to $10 a machine.
David Kaefer, Microsoft's director of intellectual property licensing and business development, said: "In general, our policy is to allow others to license our patents so they can use our innovative methods in their products."
Apple has signalled it will resist the move. A spokeswoman said Apple would continue to try to get its patent recognised. The company could take the case to the patent office's appeals board. "Apple invented and publicly released the iPod interface before the Microsoft patent application was filed," it said in a statement.
The battle comes as Microsoft is squaring up against another competitor, Google. Microsoft last month launched a lawsuit against the search-engine giant, accusing it of poaching a top executive to head a new research laboratory in China. The Redmond, Washington-based company also sued the executive, Kai-Fu Lee.

Nokia has issued a blunt warning to the British industry to stop putting on competing trade shows in London and give the industry "another Live", harking back to the days of large consumer games events in the UK.
Speaking to GamesIndustry.biz at the Game Convention Developers Conference in Leipzig, Germany, ahead of the start of the Game Convention consumer show today, Nokia's global marketing manager, Kamar Shah, accused those responsible for the dual trade-show situation in London last year of stifling the industry in general.
"I wouldn't say there's a decline in the shows in London, I'd say there are too many," he said. "After the slow decline of ECTS, last year we had two events - ECTS and EGN - on opposite sides of London, the most expensive city in the world. Even with organisations like ourselves, it was still financially and physically quite difficult, and it stretched us. How you can say we're building an industry when you do that? How do smaller developers survive? ... If you want to grow this industry, stop putting shows on at the same time."
Nokia was one of the sponsors of the recently successful EIEF event in Edinburgh, and while London is gearing up to again host two trade-only shows this autumn - Games Market Europe and GDCE are currently readying for action - there is still no consumer event in the UK following the demise of Game Stars Live after only one show: it was cancelled this year following a lack of support from major publishers.
"I think we need to be objective in the way we approach the industry," Shah added. "Developers need certain information, publishers need certain information, and the consumers need to know about the products. I don't think there are any successful consumer shows any more in the UK. From the days of Live all those years ago, others have just come and gone.
"The UK market is huge and it's one of the biggest markets in terms of consumers, so yes, we do need one. But we need everyone to get on board, whether it be a big media sponsor or a big media outlet. We're fighting for all that consumer time... Give us another Live."
German consumer event and trade show Game Convention has risen in prominence in the last two years and has attracted major attention for 2005, with key announcements expected today from both Microsoft and Sony.
Shah spoke yesterday on cross-platform development ahead of today's media showing and the start of the consumer show proper tomorrow.

Resellers recently reported about the increasing difficulty in restocking the $199US 4GB iPod Mini. Analysts expect Steve Jobs to revamp the iPod Mini offerings at the Apple Expo in Paris. The consensus is that the 4GB iPod Mini will be phased out in favor of the newer 6GB and 8GB models that will most likely include color screens and photo viewing capabilities. Hitachi and Seagate, hard drive suppliers for the iPod Mini, have recently announced 8GB versions of their 1GB micro drives.

The Street.com is reporting that Apple may be preparing to announce a deal with Google that would make the iTunes Music Store available through the Google website. Information on when this might happen, as well as just how it would be implemented, are not available.
I have to say this really surprises me, though I guess it shouldn't. I've always thought of Google as being firecely independent, just like Apple. A pairing of the nation's top online music store with the number one search engine would certainly be noteworthy to say the least, but what would be the advantage? The iTunes Music Store works just fine for me as it exists today, and is largely cross platform. Perhaps I'm missing something...?

Ported and Optimised for the Tapwave Zodiac by Fangorn.
This is a port of MAME v0.36 (Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator). It is a development of Vilmos' PalmOS PalmMAME which is itself based on MAMECE.
ZodMAME is extensively optimised to use the ATI graphics chip to boost the performance of the games. It uses pretty much every function the ATI chip has to offer (blit, line, point, masking), and the MAME core graphics engine had to be rewritten to make use of this. Because of this some games will not draw completely correctly so if you find it annoying try PalmMAME for these games. The 8MBytes of VRAM in the ATI chip is used for some of the memory requirements in the games meaning more games will run without UDMH but much of this memory is used for caching the graphics.
The optimisations have resulted in some games running up to 6 times faster but in most cases a 2-3 times increase occurs. Vector games benefit from the hardware line drawing meaning that pretty much all the vector games run at full speed with sound. Most newer games which are more CPU intensive will not see much of an increase in speed, there is nothing that can be done about that, the Zodiac would need a faster CPU.
There is full sound support in ZodMAME. Using sound in MAME adds extra processing requirements so some games which run full speed with sound off will not with it on. Most older games (1985 or earlier) should run full speed with perfect sound.

Go ahead and add “Nightmare Before Christmas” to your scorecard for special edition iPods (you have a collection, don’t you?). Between the TiVo edition, Hello Kitty edition, Neon Genesis Evangelion edition, Star Wars edition, U2 edition, HP edition, and probably a slew of others, the special editions don’t seem so special anymore. Runat has announced the release of the “Nightmare Before Christmas BOX,” which includes a 20GB iPod with Jack Skellington on the case, a few wheel stickers, and a Nightmare Before Christmas-themed carrying case. Oh yeah, and a free T-shirt! All this for a mere 52,500 yen (~$475 USD). Of course this is Japan only, don’t you know they’re the ones still obsessed with Burton?

iPod Linux is nothing new to those familiar with the iPod scene. However, it has recently, thanks to Kevin Wojniak, been given a much easier way to get it up and running on your 4th Generation iPod, iPod Photo, or iPod mini!. Here is what Kevin had to say:
"Want iPodLinux running on your 4th generation iPod, iPod photo, or iPod mini, but hate doing all the steps manually?
Well now you can get games, videos, gameboy games, Doom, text input, and much more all on your iPod!"

Meanwhile, use only the PSI Installer. You'll have to unzip it and hotsync the .prc it contains.
It will auto-install and only requires a memory card (in the first slot for 2 slots devices).

Wouldn’t be the first time that a price comparison site has jumped the gun and accidentally revealed the existence of an unannounced new product (or screwed up and “announced” a product which doesn’t exist), but apparently some listings have turned up on Shopping.com for both a 2GB and a 4GB iPod shuffle. Neither listing includes any extra juiciness like a release date or pricing, but we’ve been hearing rumors about 2GB and 4GB iPod shuffles since May and supposedly Apple’s planning to announce a mess of new iPods at next month’s expo in Paris.

Yeah, Sharper Image, you always know how to accompany that next acid test. Behold iPulse, a stereo speaker system that adds a colorful LED lightshow to your otherwise mundane listening session. And just like that Pink Floyd laser show, it plays right in time with the music. For only $129.95, all this synaesthesia could be yours.

There are probably way more iPod FM transmitter accessories out there than there needs to be, but iLounge has a good roundup comparing six car units (Belkin’s TuneBase FM, DLO’s TransPod FM, Griffin’s RoadTrip [pictured at right], Kensington’s Digital FM Transmitter, Newer Technology’s RoadTrip! Plus and RoadTrip! 87.9FM) and six fully portable units (Belkin’s TuneCast II, BTI’s TuneStir, Griffin’s iTrip and iTrip LCD, Tekkeon’s MyPower FM, and XtremeMac’s AirPlay). Their picks for the best of the bunch? Kensington’s Digital FM Transmitter and NewerTechnology’s RoadTrip! Plus.

This iPod has more armor than most of our troops in Iraq. Since the page is in Japanese—and appears to have been published back in 2004—I have no idea whether it saw the front lines or was simply a one-off casemod for a tin-can robot. All I want to know is, where can I get an armband to go jogging with this thing?

American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu believes Apple will sell 7.1 million iPods in the current quarter, according to a report by Macworld UK. The figure for the company's fourth fiscal quarter, which ends in September, represent signficant sequential growth from previous June quarter in which the company sold 6,155,000 iPods: the figure is up 15 percent from the previous quarter, but the analyst said that the average selling prices of iPods may come under greater than expected pressuress.
The research firm cites recent "aggressive" pricing and other 4GB iPod mini promotions--an effort to clear out existing high inventory levels--and a reported Apple-Samsung deal for substantial amounts of flash memory in the coming quarters as evidence of upcoming flash memory-based iPod mini. The analyst maintained a 'hold' on Apple stock with a price target of $42.

Looking for all the world like a shrunken version of Altec Lansing’s inMotion, Griffin Tech’s TuneBox is yet another speaker system for the iPod shuffle. Like PodGear’s ShuffleStation (but more compact and less funky looking), it charges the shuffle while it’s plugged in, and is available now for about $40. We still don’t get the point of turning the shuffle into an amped system, but we guess it’s reasonable if you’re either a traveler with a very small music collection or an oompa loompa looking for a boom box.

Tiger Telematics is set to launch a suite of GPS location-based mapping software for its Gizmondo handheld console at the end of September, offering fully-featured satellite navigation to locations around the UK and Europe.
The suite, called Gizmondo Navigator 2006, will ship on a different SD card for each geographic region and will show navigation guides in both 2D and 3D, as well as offering voiced instructions for each turn in the route.
The software will enable Gizmondo owners to finally take full advantage of the console's global positioning functions, which also have the potential to be used in videogames which factor in the user's location as part of the play experience.
Tiger Telematics plans to launch a car cradle and charger for the handheld alongside the GPS pack, allowing the console to be used properly for in-car navigation.
A special version of the Gizmondo console, with the Smart Adds direct marketing enabled, will be sold bundled with the navigation software for GBP 199, while the software itself will be available for GBP 99 (for the UK only) or GBP 199 (for all of Europe).
Gizmondo's launch in the US was recently subject to a fresh delay, and it's not been announced whether a similar navigation package will be available in the US market when the console finally arrives there.

This is a port of ScummVM v0.5.1 for the Tapwave Zodiac.
Ported to the Tapwave Zodiac by Fangorn.
Please read the ScummVM README for general information on using ScummVM.
The following games are not currently supported in ZodSCUMM:
The Dig (crashes during game)
Simon the Sorceror (unknown memory problems)
Beneath a Steel Sky (unknown memory problems)
I haven't tested all the games so don't know which others do not work properly, but the major SCUMM titles seem to work fine.
The sound files '.SOU' work fine and should be installed into the same directory as the game. The compressed MP3/Ogg versions of the sound files and music tracks are not supported. (Anyone who can get the libmad to compile on Codewarrior/PNOlet, please contact me).
NOTE: ZodSCUMM seems to be pretty stable but currently crashes when quitting from the SCUMM launcher popup window. It doesn't crash if you use Tapwave 'Launcher' key.
