The NFC wristband lets users make common actions on their device just by tapping.
Startup, Haloband is a new way to control features on an Android smartphone in a quick and easy manner.
It integrates six of your most used functions such as unlocking a device, using the flashlight, taking photos, or playing music. Each can be used by tapping a different part of the band on the phone.
The startup company aimed to raise $10,000 on Kickstarter; however have so far managed to pocket $20,028, suggesting that people are eager to get their hands – or wrists – around one of the bands.
NFC-enabled devices are increasingly popular, with more than half a billion expected to be sold during 2014 – so it is not surprising that the demand for gadgets that utilise this function is also rising.
The silicon band will be available in three sizes and seven colours. It will work with an Android app that ensures only the person wearing the band can access the phones functions.
Creators of Haloband, said: “Smartphones are amazing, but complicated for some. We aim to make them easy and simple for most people. Since some technology has been too cool for some, we aim to make it sexy and fashionable.”
The band is not restricted to smartphones, it can also be used to access door that require security cards, check-in to events using NFC, and pass out your information to other phones.
It is also the first NFC band to include a free online cloud account available all over the world.
