New photos allegedly showing the rear shell of the iPad Air 2, have been posted on blogging site Weibo.
Mac Otakara released the images, posted by Taiwan accessory maker Yi Lin Enterprises, of the gold shell, with a number of design changes, including a new speaker grille and a relocated microphone beside the iSight camera.
Apple’s iPad Air 2 is expected to launch later this year, alongside the iPad mini 3, with rumours suggesting the Air will include a faster A8 processor as well as the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.
This news comes after previous images were released of the non-functional replica of the tablet back in June, which featured a Touch ID button and recessed volume buttons.
The prototype followed the leak of images showing a front panel, which showed an integrated display, hinting at the possibilities of a thinner form factor for the new device.
Other reports also suggest that the new device will feature a 9.7-inch Retina LCD Display.
Further rumours surround Apple’s iPhone 6, which will allegedly be launched on Tuesday, October 14th. The new model is expected to feature a 10MP camera and NFC connectivity.
This is in keeping with rumours that Apple will hold a media event on September 16th detailing new products.

Research from Strategy Analytics has revealed Android’s platform share of the global market is at 84.6 per cent, for the second quarter 2014.
Google dominated the smartphone market, while Apple’s market share shrunk from 13.4 per cent to 11.9 per cent.
Similarly, Strategy Analytics also reported that Microsoft’s market share fell from 3.8 per cent to 2.7 per cent, while Blackberry fell from 2.4 per cent to 0.6 per cent.
During Q214, there were 295.2 million smartphone shipments, with Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi becoming the world’s firth-largest brand.
Strategy Analytics also revealed that although these figures are high, smartphone sales are growing at a significantly slower rate than past sales figures.
Linda Sui, director of wireless smartphone strategies at Strategy Analytics, said: “Global smartphone growth in the current quarter is at its lowest level for five years, and there are wide variations by region.
“Africa and Asia are booming, while North America and Europe are maturing.”
However, it was noted that Samsung shipped 74.5 million smartphones worldwide, capturing a 25 per cent market share.

The iPhone 6 will launch on Tuesday, October 14th, suggests a source close to the matter.
MacRumors reports that a senior store leader at an internal Apple Retail Store meeting mentioned October 14th as being an ‘immense’ day for Apple.
According to the source, it was also revealed in the meeting that the whole month of October will be very busy for stores and the company itself.
This is in keeping with rumours that Apple will hold a media event on September 16th detailing new products. It’s thought the firm will release two different sized smartphones, with the release dates being scattered a month apart.
If the report is correct, this may indicate that one model will be available immediately after the press event, with the flagship iPhone 6 hitting retail in October.
The iPhone 6 is expected to come with NFC connectivity, 10MP camera, and humidity, pressure and temperature sensors.
In other Apple news, an app called 1Password has demonstrated how the extensions update to iOS 8 can be used in conjunction with the app to allow other third-party devs to tap into 1Password and fill in your passwords without ever leaving their own app.
Apple demonstrated the benefits of iOS 8 extensions at this year’s WWDC, where it showed how users will be able to edit photos across various apps without having to jump between them.

The constant war to jailbreak and patch iOS has taken another step in favor of the jailbreakers. Georgia Tech researchers have found a way to jailbreak the current version of iOS. What the Georgia Tech team has discovered is a way to break in by a multi-step attack. After analysing the patches put in place to stop previous attacks, the team worked out a sequence that would jailbreak any modern iPhone. The team stresses the importance of patching all of the threats, and not just closing one vulnerability and assuming that it renders others unusable as an attack method. It is claimed that the hack works with any iOS 7.1.2 using device including the iPhone 5s.

Marat Fayzullin hat eine weitere Version eines GameBoy Advance Emulator VGBA-Android veröffentlicht.
Quote:
I have been busy fixing GBA emulation bugs this week. As result, Sword of Mana, Rayman 3, and a few other popular games work flawlessly in the new VGBA-Android 4.5 released today.
As users keep asking me for compatibility with other GBA emulators, I am now now storing in-game saves in VBA-compatible .SAV files, by default. You no longer need to enable this feature in the Settings and manually rename files.
Finally, I have fixed a few native code crashes that appeared after introducing the custom screen feature. If you experienced crashes recently, they should be gone now.
- Now saving VBA-compatible .SAV files by default.
- Disabling windows with invalid coordinates (fixed Sword Of Mana).
- Resetting rotation when BG size changes (fixed Rayman 3 Swamp Zone).
- If Duel Masters doesn´t work for you, truncate it to 4MB, 8MB file is wrong.
- Fixed After Burner in Sega Arcade Gallery (by handling illegal reads).
- Fixed playfield and in-game saves in Crazy Taxi (no longer hangs).
- Fixed screenshots when using custom-positioned screen.
- Fixed crash when drawing custom-positioned screen.
- Fixed accidental crash when drawing overlay.

With the impending launch of the iPhone 6 likely just a month away, more images have been leaked depicting what looks like the design of the new device.
Shared by iPhone vendor Feld & Volf via the company’s Instagram page, MacRumors has posted images that purport to show the iPhone 6’s rear shell and front panel.
Although various images have already been leaked, portraying the rear shell and front panel, these are the first pictures to show the two parts together.
A side view of the new 4.7-inch phone shows how slim the model will look, which is expected to be approximately 7mm.

The images also show a glossy aluminium finish with rounded edges, as well as an embedded Apple logo.
The volume buttons have also been redesigned into a pill shape, and a relocated right-side power button is also visible.
Other possible specs include a 10MP camera, sapphire screen, NFC connectivity, plus pressure, humidity and temperature sensors.
Other rumours are also circulating, as reports suggest a new reversible lightning cable is being designed specifically for the phone.
The rumoured release date for the iPhone 6 is September 9th, so until then we will have to wait and see what the new model has in store for us.

Xiaomi Inc to bring microconsole's games offering to Chinese audience via streaming boxes and smart TVs
Troubled microconsole Ouya is making a push for the Asian market through a new partnership with Xiaomi Inc, a Chinese smartphone manufactuer.
Ouya CEO Julie Uhrman told Reuters that while details are still being finalised, it's likely that the device will get a dedicated channel on Xiami's streaming boxes and smart TVs, allowing gamers to buy and download Ouya's offering of independently developed titles.
Xiaomi is also expected to help market Ouya games in the region. Revenues will also be shared between Ouya, Xiaomi and games developers.
"For the likes of Xiaomi's MiTV, its set-top boxes and other Android set-top boxes that are entering the market, this could be a turning point… in bringing great content and developers to gamers and into a region that they have never had access to before," said Uhrman.
"The whole [Chinese] industry is still in a very early development stage. There is an opportunity for both Xiaomi and Ouya."
China is the third biggest games marketing in the world, but it is tough for Western companies to break into - partly because the sale of traditional games consoles was banned until April this year.

It's hardly uncommon for smartphone batteries to lose some of their oomph over time, but Apple just might be able to help if your iPhone 5's battery has been flakier than usual. The folks in Cupertino have figured out that some of the iPhone 5s sold between its launch in September 2012 and January 2013 have batteries that may "suddenly experience shorter battery life or need to be charged more frequently" and has kicked off a program to replace them free of charge. Mosey on over to Apple's support page to see if your iPhone 5 is one of the affected units -- if it is and you live in the United States or China, you can reach out and claim your replacement battery right now. What's that you say? You're one of those proactive types and already shelled out money for a replacement? Reach out anyway, because Apple may have a refund waiting for you. Alas, the rest of the world will have to wait just a little bit longer -- Apple plans to launch the program in other countries on August 29th.

The new VGBA-Android 4.5.2 version is now on Google Play. I have been fixing pending emulation issues lately, so this release makes 10+ previously broken games from my bug list work. - Removed "Save VBA Save File on Exit" option, as no longer necessary.
- Implemented proper shutdown of DropBox and BoxArt threads at exit.
- Fixed stale timer thread remaining after exiting a game.
- Went through the global bug list fixing various emulation bugs.

You may have heard that the Windows Store has a serious problem with counterfeit apps; for every legitimate title, there's seemingly a horde of fakes meant solely to take your money and run. At last, though, Microsoft has detailed what it's doing to cull these scams from its shop. To begin with, it recently toughened up the requirements so that app categories, icons and names reflect what you're really getting; hopefully, you'll see less junk going forward. The folks in Redmond are also scouring the existing catalog, and have pulled 1,500 apps so far. There's still a long way to go (search for "iTunes" and you'll see plenty of copyright abuse), but this represents a good start.

If you ask many pundits when Apple will unveil its often-rumored wearable device, many of them will say October. However, we may have to revise those expectations a bit. Recode's sources now claim that Apple will unveil the gadget on September 9th -- you know, the same day that many expect to see at least one new iPhone. There's little to back the claim at this point beyond the site's reputation for accurate leaks, but the timing makes sense given that the iPhone and the mystery wristwear are expected to work virtually hand-in-hand. As for actual technical details? Besides the expected fitness and home automationsupport, there isn't much more to say -- most likely, you'll have to wait a couple more weeks to get the full scoop.

Next time you're playing a favorite game on your iPhone and iPad, a huge ad -- or worse, a minute-long video roll -- might take over the screen. iAd platform's full-screen interstitial banner and pre-roll video ads, which were first announced earlier this year, are now available to developers. The full-screen ads appear as transitional screens, say, whenever you reach the end of a game level, while the video ads come in 15, 30 and 60-second variants. These are already available on other ad platforms, of course, but iAds were typically more unobtrusive, just banners that you can click on to launch advertisers' websites. As you'd expect, these new options will cost devs a lot more money. But if Apple does unleash an iPhone with a much larger screen (possibly this September), then these ads might just be worth their cash.

The rumor mill surrounding Apple is at full force right now. But while people are still waiting for the supposed bigger-screen iPhone (or iPhones) and a smartwatch to show up, we can now add one more device to the list. According to Bloomberg, Apple's set to introduce a 12.9-inch iPad in 2015. Citing sources familiar with the matter, the report claims that production on said iPad, which would be Apple's biggest yet, is scheduled to begin as early as Q1 of next year, noting that it's all part of Tim Cook's plan to "shake up the iPad line." Of course, this isn't the first time we've heard whispers on a 12.9-inch tablet from the iPhone maker, as some outlets have previously reported on leaked parts from a device being known as "iPad Pro." Now whether or not Apple is actually working on one, that's yet to be determined -- but even if it was, let's not forget that companies tend to have a change of heart from time to time.

Spotify has offered free, ad-supported streaming to Android and iOS for months, leaving Windows Phone users wondering what they'd done wrong to be so roundly ignored. Today, it seems, Spotify has finally remembered that they exist, and has announced that both Windows Phone 8 and 8.1 devices will enjoy "free" music from today. The updated app, available from the Windows Store, also has a few other tweaks, including better search and discovery features, helping you to work out which artists you love, and which artists are, eh, kinda okay, I guess.

Fans of mobile operating systems not called "Android" or 'iOS" might be sad to hear what Huawei's head honcho just told the Wall Street Journal. In an interview, Richard Yu spoke about the company's plans regarding Tizen, Windows Phone and a long-rumoredhomegrown OS, and basically said they were all doomed.
According to the executive, unnamed mobile networks had asked Huawei to make Tizensmartphones, but Yu feels that the platform has "no chance to be successful." It's a bit of a u-turn, since the company has previously had a research unit looking into the Samsung-made software, but Yu said that he shut it down.

If you're an iPhone user, you may want to be cautious about opening messages that contain phone numbers in the near future; they may cost you a lot of money. Developer Andrei Neculaesei notes that maliciously coded links in some apps will abuse the "tel" web handler (which covers dialing) to automatically make a phone call the moment you view a message. Potentially, an evildoer could force you to call an expensive toll number before you've had a chance to hang up. The exploit isn't limited to any one app or developer, either. Facebook Messenger, Gmail and Google+ all fall prey to the attack, and it's likely that other, less recognizable apps exhibit similar behavior. Apple's Safari browser will ask you before starting a call, but FaceTime's behavior lets you pull a similar (though not directly related) stunt.

Samsung has unveiled its latest wearable device, the Gear S, which comes with 3G connectivity.
The smartwatch can perform a number of tasks without the need to be connected up to a smartphone, including receiving notifications from social networks, receiving and replying to messages, and most notably, making and receiving phone calls.
As well as 3G, the Gear S has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Users can switch between different connections and have their information automatically synchronised with their smartphone.
It also features a two-inch curved Super AMOLED display at a 360x480 resolution and runs on the Tizen operating system.
“Samsung is leading this exciting and rapidly developing wearable category through progressive innovation,” said JK Shin, CEO and head of IT & mobile communication at Samsung Electronics. “The Samsung Gear S redefines the idea of the smart wearable and the culture of mobile communication. It will let consumers live a truly connected life anywhere, anytime.”
Health and fitness is also a focus for the Gear S. It comes with built-in GPS and S Health features such as Nike+ Running.
The Samsung Gear S smartwatch will be available from October. There is no word on pricing as of yet.
