The new XAV-602BT smartphone connected in-dash entertainment system and the XA-NV300T GPS module, has been unveiled by Sony, making it easier and safer toexperience music, navigate and use applications while in a car.
The system combines information taken from a smartphone on a display controlled by the receiver. While app content is displayed on the smartphone, music is played through the speakers, and the use of TomTom's mapping technologies is accessible on the in-car screen.
The system is compatible with iOS and Android, however Android users benefit from an enhanced App Remote technology, which lets the driver use voice commands to control apps and functions such as navigation, music playback, notification readouts plus more.
Andrew Sivori, VP of the sound division at Sony Electronics, said: "With the enhanced Sony-exclusive App Remote technology now featuring a voice UI, the new XAV-602BT entertainment system makes smartphone access and control even more convenient and seamless in the car."
The XAV-602BT also includes high quality video playback, a DVD player, integrated Bluetooth and USB connectivity for Walkman, iPod, iPhone, Android and BlackBerry plus other connectable devices.
In addition, the SiriusXM can be used with the system, which a provides more commercial-free music, sport talk, comedy, and other exclusive programs.
The XAV-602BT will be available in October, priced at around $549.99 and the XA-NV300T GPS module about £249.99 - and is currently being trialled at MERA Knowledgefest in Dallas.

Images posted online claim to prove the inclusion of a fingerprint scanner in the iPhone 5S.
The photos, posted on French website nowhereelse.fr, show the purported iPhone 5S rear shell alongside the shell of the existing iPhone 5, with certain areas highlighted in order to demonstrate the changes found in the new model.
At the top of the phone, the section of the shell surrounding the iPhone 5S’ camera flash is shown to have been split into two small holes, supposedly to house the rumoured dual-LED flash, which doubles the iPhone 5’s single LED, with the upgrade giving a more effective and natural lighting effect to photos. The camera itself has already been rumoured to be receiving a bump in quality, increasing to 12 or 13 megapixels from the iPhone 5’s six megapixels.
The bottom of phone also shows a radical change from the iPhone 5’s design. The metal spacer cushion that backs the iPhone 5S’ home button differs from that of the iPhone 5 by sloping sharply down on one edge, leading to a repositioning of the spacer’s fixing screw.
For many, the change validates building evidence that the new iPhone will include a fingerprint scanner underneath the home button.
The inclusion of a biometric security device has previously been suggested by analysts, with developers also discovering folders in the iOS 7 beta concerning a ‘BiometricKitUI’ and image descriptions of users specifically touching the iPhone’s home button with their thumb.
The iPhone 5S’ announcement and subsequent release are rumoured to happen at an Apple press event on September 10th.

Sony is rumoured to be working on the Sony Honami Mini - an even smaller version of the slim Xperia i1 smartphone which is set to be revealed on September 4th at IFA in Berlin.
Techradar reports the Honami Mini could sport a 4.3-inch 720p display, 2.2GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, a microSD slot, 20.7MP camera and 2400mAh battery.
To make naming matters more confusing, the Sony Xperia i1 was previously known as the Sony Honami, but the potential Sony Honami Mini is also now being referred to as codename Ray 3.
These phones would be the latest in Sony's Xperia line, which includes the Z smartphone, Z tablet and accessories.
The Sony Honami Mini would go head-to-head with other mini versions of smartphones including the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini and the HTC One Mini.
Meanwhile, Apple is said to be working on the iPhone 6 and 5S.

New images leaked online show a possible gold-finish iPhone 5S model.
The images, posted over the weekend on French Apple-focused site MacBoutic, show a new gold coloured finish applied to a shell that closely matches previously leaked photos of the iPhone 5S.
If genuine, the flashy colour scheme would be a step away from Apple’s tradition of two-tone black and white options for previous iPhone and iPad models. The shell would also validate previous rumours of a wide range of colours being available for the iPhone 5S.
While there have been no previous leaks of any iPhone 5S components in any new colours, brightly-coloured volume buttons for Apple’s rumoured budget iPhone 5C phone were leaked last week. The budget phone’s model prefix is supposedly said to stand for ‘Colour’, suggesting that its diverse palette is not to be necessarily matched in the 5S.
Genuine or not, many if not all rumours concerning the new iPhone models are sure to be dispelled on September 10th, when Apple is said to be hosting a press event.

PPSSPP Git (2013/08/18) is compiled. PPSSPP is a fast and portable PSP emulator for Android, Windows, Mac, and Linux, written in C++.
PPSSPP Git Changelog:
* GLES: Disable logic op while alpha blend is enabled. Having them both enabled at the same time makes no sense, and this seems like the safest possible fix for #3220 as logic op usage is rare.
* 360 controller: Update default mapping. Put speed toggle on THUMBR instead of a trigger as the triggers are bouncy.
* Yet another feature that was missing in newui
* Introduce 'lowmem' fonts for Symbian.
Right now it is for all Symbian devices. Although, high mem devices should continue to use the old fonts.
* Merge pull request #3217 from unknownbrackets/softgpu
Fix softgpu's 4444 color conversion
* Fix softgpu's 4444 color conversion.
And use the standard 4->8 swizzling funcs (more self documenting.)
* Small changes. Symbian buildfix.
* Symbian can't compile Software GPU (internal compiler error). Probably can't run it well either. So, disabled.
* Update native.
* Typo/buildfix
* Transfer some features from oldUI to newUI
* Fix loading of non-mapped keys
* Fix checkmark for multithreaded I/O, fixes #3216
* Fixes to default key mappings, add default button, fix saving of mapped controls on Android, fixes #3213
* Misc UI stuff, back button should now work as expected.
* Merge pull request #3214 from Kingcom/Debug
Assemble opcode by typing
* Assemble opcode by typing
* Merge pull request #3212 from unknownbrackets/softgpu
Software GPU width tweak
* Render the display width properly in softgpu.
* Remove very questionable DrawSync override.
* Add support for multithreading in softgpu.
* Report "Software" for sw GPU engine.
* Merge pull request #3206 from thedax/UIImprovements
Improve the Win32 UI

Following the fan-favored trend of turning established series into social-oriented card games, Games Workshop has lent the Warhammer license to mobile developer HeroCraft for Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf.
The free-to-play adaption of the Warhammer series will incorporate cards as a means to advance through turn-based, grid-oriented battles. Example cards included with the press release depict equippable weapons and cards necessary for the movement of units. Winning battles is rewarded with "new weapons, bonuses and tactic cards."
Space Wolf's campaign will include branching storylines and focus on stopping the Word Bearers, a fanatical band of traitors that serve the mechanical Necron race. Players will pick a unit from the Grey Hunter, Wolf Scout, Blood Claw, or Wolf Guard classes depending on their preferred style and tactics.
Space Wolf is planned to draw its launch card sometime in 2014 on iOS, Android and PC.

Electronic Arts is supporting a unique application that allows Comcast cable customers play iOS games on their TV.
A new iOS app, called Xfinity Games, allows iPads to connect to Comcast's cable set-top boxes. The tablet will serve as game controller, while the Xfinity cable box works as a console.
PrevNext1 of 5
Electronic Arts is supplying multiple games for the smart-TV-like platform.
Neither company have announced the project, though the app has now appeared on various App Store aggregator websites following its approval by Apple. At the time of going to press, the service is only available in the US.
As of September 2010, Comcast served a total of 23 million cable customers across the US - showing that the potential market could be significant.
The app's description reads:XFINITY Games powered by Origin delivers console-quality video games from Electronic Arts directly to your television using your Comcast X1 set-top box. You can access a catalog of available games through the XFINITY Games powered by Origin web storefront. If you're one of many Windows Phone 8 users who downloaded the Fresh Paint appwhen it arrived on mobile devices a few weeks ago, you might've been disappointed to find it wouldn't run on certain devices. That's because the initial release of the program was only for higher-end WP8 phones with a healthy dosage of RAM. Now, however, it has been updated to run on Windows Phone 8 handsets with just 512MB of RAM, which includes models like the HTC 8S, the Nokia Lumia 520/521, 620, 625 and 720. So if you now have a qualifying handset, feel free to hit up the Windows Phone Store link below to unleash that pent-up creativity on a digital canvas.

Those of you unhappy with IOS, Android, Windows Phone and BlackBerry can now salute the newest pretender to the crown. The Firefox OS Phone is now available to buy via Ebay.Com for US folks and Ebay.co.uk for us in the UK.
The phones will cost you a very reasonable £60 or $80 and include free delivery and are open to any network.
The phone is powered by a 1.0 GHz Cortex-A5 built-in A-GPS Sensor
This is from the ebay description:
Firefox OS smartphones are the first devices powered completely by Web technologies. It includes all the things people expect from a smartphone — calls, messaging, email, camera — and those that they want, such as built-in social integration with Facebook and Twitter, location-based services like Nokia HERE maps which include local transit and traffic information, much-loved features like the Firefox Web browser, the Firefox Marketplace and much more. So you can take control of your life online and you can use the Awesome Bar (URL Bar) to get where you want to go quickly.
Developers can now build apps powered by open Web standards (like HTML5, JavaScript and CSS) and new Mozilla pioneered Web APIs that enable Web apps to access the underlying capabilities of the handset previously only available to native apps (e.g. camera, telephony, messaging, Bluetooth)

Remember the 2011 iMac's HDD replacement program? It seems like the machine thought it was time for an encore. Apple recently announced that 27-inch iMacs sold between May 2011 and October 2012 may be eligible for a free repair, citing faulty AMD Radeon HD 6970M GPUs (you can find the official statement after the break). The issue specifically effects machines with 3.1GHz Core-i5 and 3.4GHz Core-i7 processors, and can cause visual distortions, white or blue vertical lines or a solid black display. According to 9to5Mac, Apple is also issuing refunds to customers who paid to have the GPU fixed before the program was announced. Fair enough if you're on a budget, but we won't blame you if you use the issue as an excuse to upgrade.

Hankering for a new Moto X, are you? If you're an AT&T loyalist (or just can't figure out a way to slip out of your contract), the carrier has just published its launch details surrounding the most monumental Motorola handset in a decade. The vanilla black and white models will be available for sale starting August 23rd, with the 16GB version going for $199.99 on a two-year agreement and the 32GB variant for $249.99. (WithAT&T Next, the 16GB model is available for $27 per month and the 32GB model is $32 per month.)
Moto Maker shipments will begin on 8/23 as well, with a "lucky few" who registered for early access able to get their orders started on the 19th. Moreover, AT&T will be stocking Skip, and all Moto Maker orders will include a Skip gratis for a limited time. If you're curious to see what kind of crazy coloring options are at your disposal, we're told that major (but not all) AT&T retail outlets will boast a table like the one shown above -- decisions, decisions.

Tired of Apple offering iPhones solely in black or white? If photos obtained by MacBoutic are accurate, you'll get some variety soon... and some bling, for that matter. The repair shop's images reportedly show an iPhone 5S shell in a simulated gold color, supporting recent spec predictions from KGI analyst (and frequent AppleInsidertipster) Ming-Chi Kuo. While it's difficult to verify the snapshots when MacBoutic has erased all logos, this doesn't look like an aftermarket project; the hue extends to normally inaccessible parts of the phone, for example. As a result, we won't be surprised if we see a flashy gold iPhone at Apple's rumored September 10th event.
