Microsoft has spent the past several months refining Bing results on the web and the desktop. Now, it's Windows Phone 8's turn. An upcoming Bing refresh for the platform will reduce the search filters to three -- Web, Images and Videos -- while providing more relevant information on the first result screen. The tool is also more likely to show usable results in the first place, with immediate answers available for subjects like flight schedules, movies and word definitions. Photo hunters get some additional love between infinite scrolling and auto-sized thumbnails. Just don't expect the new Bing features right away. Microsoft is delivering the update to American devices over the course of the next few weeks, with international users to follow afterward.

Dual-SIM phones are handy in regions where international travel and prepaid service are common, but even those devices aren't always enough for jetsetters. Thankfully,GooPhone and LG have come to those customers' rescue by launching the first smartphones based on a new MediaTek Triple-SIM chip. Both the leaked GooPhone X1+ (shown above) and a just-shipped variant of the Optimus L4 II (after the break) can juggle three phone lines without a big hit to battery life. Neither tri-SIM phone is high-end: the X1+ reportedly carries a 5-inch FWVGA display and a dual-core MT6572processor, while the L4 II sports a 3.8-inch HVGA screen and an unnamed 1GHz chip. Despite those limitations, we suspect the handsets will be vital to anyone who'd rather not switch SIMs when crossing the border. LG's phone is already on sale in Brazil, while the GooPhone X1+ should ship to multiple countries within the next several days.

If you're a Nokia Lumia 820 or 920 owner, you now have a chance to try the Amber update a little early. WindowsMania.pl has posted unofficial ROMs (820, 920) that upgrade international versions of the Windows Phones to the Amber release ahead of Microsoft's rollout. Both ROMs are relatively easy to install from a PC usingNokiaViews.com's instructions, although they're risky: they require wiping the phone's data, and there's no guarantees of future official upgrades. Even so, the new code may be worthwhile for Lumia fans who'd rather not wait a few weeks for a minor OS refresh.

Apple and its developer community have had a few rough weeks: hackers struck Apple's Dev Center in mid-July, and the company's efforts to both recover and rejuvenate the portal have been slow going. Things are looking up, however, as the company just sent word that it will restore most of the remaining services this week. These will include crucial elements like enrollments and renewals, although Apple has already extended current developers' memberships to avoid interruptions. While there's still a few missing pieces, it's clear that developers can soon return to business as usual

We finally got our hands on a Chromecast over the weekend and we love it! But it wasnât without a bit of a speed bump. Including a quick initial setup, we had a YouTube video playing in our living room about three minutes after the package hit our mailbox. But we spent the next twenty minutes feeling like a moron because we couldnât get the Netflix app on an Android phone to cast the video. Turns out there is a bug in the Netflix app that doesnât add the Chromecast icon for all devices.
The issue is that the newest version of the Netflix app isnât pushed to all devices. A fix is on the way, but weâre not good at waiting. We used this technique to trick Netflix into thinking we have different hardware. Notice from the screenshots above that one lists our device as an LG-P769 manufactured by LGE. Thatâs how our /system/build.prop file originally looked. By using the BuildProp Editor app we changed those settings to Nexus S by samsung. After rebooting several of our apps were missing from the app drawer, including Netflix. But they all still worked hitting the Play Store for reinstallation and we now have no problem casting Netflix.

Android console firm apologises to early donators who didn't receive hardware before retail launch
Ouya is offering store credit for its digital store to any of its Kickstarter backers unhappy with its service.
After backing the Android consoleâs crowdfunding campaign nearly a year ago, a number of donators only received their unit after it had launched at retail.
Some users have also allegedly reports missing controllers, while others have been unhappy with slow responses to their issues sent to customer service.
As an apology, the company is giving $13.37 in store credit to each user affected.
âIt wasn't OK that some of you-our most loyal supporters-didn't get your Ouya until after it was on store shelves,â read a statement from Ouya CEO Julie Uhrman.

Use your Google account to find your phone and keep all your data safe.
With the new Android device manager, any lost device - running on Android 2.2 or above - can be located and called.
Phones get lost, it is one of those inevitabilities in life. Whether its been left in a bar, on the train or even found its way into the deep, dark depths of the sofa - it will happen.
Similar to Apple's 'find my iPhone' the Android equivalent locates the device via a Google account, informs the owner of its exact whereabouts, and if it is nearby gives the phone a call at maximum volume - even if on silent.
Any data left on a device need not fall into the wrong hands, as the device manager gives the option of clearing the phone of all personal information quickly and securely.
The service will be available later this month, along with an Android App to enable users to manage all their Android devices.

Samsung has filed a trademark for a wearable digital electronic device called the Galaxy Gear.
According to the listing, the Galaxy Gear will take the form on a wristwatch, wristband or bangle.
Earlier this year, Samsungâs executive vice president, Lee Young Hee, confirmed that a smart watch was in development, and although he was tight lipped about its name, features or release date, there were rumours circulating that the watch would be named the Galaxy Altius.
Whether that was a code name or working title, it looks like the device Lee mentioned is now the Galaxy Gear.
Samsung isnât the only firm trademarking a name for its new wearable device. Apple recently went on what appeared to be a trademarking rampage, registering the name âiWatchâ in a number or countries, including Russia, Mexico and Japan.

US talk radio conservative Rush Limbaugh has taken a break from laying into anyone leaning to the left of the American political spectrum, to level his polemic canons on the tech blogger community â claiming as a rule it âhatesâApple.
Furthermore, he asserts that Apple is in fact the Republican party of tech journalism. In that itâs the victim of constant biased media attack.
He says:
âI would venture to say that nine out of 10 bloggers writing high-tech hate Apple. Apple is the equivalent of the Republicans on these blogs, and Google, Android, and Samsung are the equivalent of the Democrats.â
Itâs the sort of rhetoric that doesnât get levelled too much at the international tech sector, usually contained to the world of divisive US politics. And itâs quite easy to pick apart these diatribes. So letâs do that.
There probably are blogs that favour Apple or Google/Samsung to some extent, because thatâs sort of the point of a blog.
To make a general point, Iâd argue Apple just get written/read about more than any other tech firm. Going by clicks per story, you can say with a good degree of confidence people are usually more interested in Apple than any other tech firm.
And of course there is a predilection across media as a whole, from the Daily Mail to the Guardian â in which ânegativeâ stories tend to be more interesting too. It would certainly be strange if there wasnât a fair few stories of this type on Apple floating around the web.
Besides which the way tech media âblogsâ and âwebsitesâ share stories and sources, it doesnât seem to be overly useful to separate out one element anyway. Websites concerned with writing tech news are something of an intertwined beast at this stage.
But regardless of this, if any such coverage has been a thorn in the side for Apple, itâs been doing a good job of hiding the pain. You wonât know this, not being plugged into the pulsating veins tech trade like us, but I can tell you the iPhone is selling quite well.
Indeed, Apple is so colossally successful that the idea of casting it as some sort of downtrodden victim of a cabal of vicious bedroom bloggers seems a bit hysterical to say the least.
But itâs difficult to talk on any meaningful level about this without drawing out a specific example of supposed bias. To this point, one listener to Limbaughâs show emailed in and asked for some names of the offending sites.
He responded with:
âFolks, I've thought about it, and there's nothing to be gained by it. If I call 'em out, all they're gonna do is get happy that I'm giving them attention and elevating attention. It's not gonna change them. If I start naming people, the same thing. It's one of these unfortunate things.â
I suppose thatâs not a terrible point, but making it does reduce the conversation to:
âSomeoneâs doing something bad.â
âWho?â
âIâm not telling.â
"Ok."
But we do want to know what you think â is there bias in the blogging community or the wider tech media against Apple?

Spotify has started rolling out its new âBrowseâ feature which brings curated playlists to the music streaming service.
The new feature offers playlists for different moods and environments, as well as the ability to browse through new and popular releases.
Spotify has been in the news recently due to Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke saying the service leaves âshareholders rolling in itâ. The bandâs producer Nigel Godrich also spoke out, saying it pays new artists âF*ck allâ.
In an odd move, Radioheadâs co-manager Brain Message has backed Spotify, even though Thom Yorke has pulled recent albums from the service.
The Browse feature is being gradually rolled out on iOS and Android starting today.

Features:
* Very accurate sound emulation with high quality re-sampling
* SVP chip support for Virtua Racing (needs a fast device)
* 6-button controller and 4-player multitap support
* Backup memory and save state support, auto-save and ten manual slots for save states.
