Apple is believed to have rejected millions of iPhone devices, returning them to manufacturer Foxconn citing quality concerns.
China Business reports that the US firm rejected between five and eight million iPhone handsets "due to appearance of substandard or dysfunctional problems."
Whilst it remains unknown which model iPhones were returned, the news is likely to have significant impacts for both companies.
The report estimates that Foxconn could take a loss of around $1.6 billion over the issue. Meanwhile, the sheer number of devices returned by Apple is almost certain to have an affect on the firm's iPhone stock levels.
This isn't the first time that Foxconn has found itself in hot water with Apple. Following the release of the iPhone 5, a number of customers opted to return their handsets, complaining of scratches on devices just removed from the box.

Starting today, developers interested in building apps for Mozilla's Firefox OS can buy the first handsets running the open source platform.
Geekphone, the Spanish firm manufacturing the phones, has unveiled two different models – the Keon and the Peak.

Apart from patching up software and hardware issues, the Ouya's biggest hurdle is the same one that every new console faces: Games. That's where Kellee Santiago comes in. Santiago made a name for herself withthatgamecompany, the studio behind Flow, Flower and Journey. After departing thatgamecompany in 2012, she joined Ouya earlier this year as its head of developer relations. That makes it her job to both work with Ouya's current developers, reach out to new ones and, perhaps most importantly, help curate the content on the Ouya store.
"One of the, I would say, main goals for the console is to create an ecosystem in which any developer can find the right audience for their game through Ouya." That means creating a system that is "naturally diverse" to begin with, she says, and "taking a look at what are our early developers naturally gravitating to. What is [the] content we want to get onto the platform in order to increase the diversity of our portfolio."
That also means avoiding "the trap that many new distribution channels can fall into, which is sort of feeding into the early successes of the games that were accepted by the initial audience of the platform." That's easier said than done, and Ouya has a handful of battles to fight.

Pre-orders of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 have already begun at AT&T, but the operator has been oddly silent about the actual date customers can expect to purchase one in stores and online. Now that T-Mobile and Sprint have both announced specific launch dates (April 24th and 27th, respectively), the largest GSM carrier in the country has followed up by declaring its intent to sell the flagship Samsung device on the 27th of this month. This is four days earlier than the anticipated pre-order shipment date, which means the HTC One has merely a full week to bask in the spotlight by itself. What's more, if you simply couldn't wait and jumped on those pre-orders, you'll get yours a full 48 hours early (read: April 25th). As expected, the GS 4 will be offered for $200 (16GB) and $250 (32GB) in both black and white.

The iOS versions of last year's PSP title go for a hefty sum
[h=3]Namco Bandai[/h]bandainamco.co.jp/en...
In October of last year, Namco Bandai launched the Japanese release of iDOLM@STER: Shiny Festa for Sony's PlayStation Portable. The game had three versions, Honey Sound, Funky Note, and Groovy Tune, each with its own song list, characters, and OVA episode. All three versions cost 5,980 yen ($60.30/£39.44) for the UMD version or 5,380 yen ($54.25/£35.49) for the downloadable version. The PSP version remained Japanese only, so any English fans were out of luck until now.
Namco Bandai has localized iDOLM@STER: Shiny Festa in English, but the game is being released on iOS instead of its original platform. The three versions of the game have been renamed: Harmonic Score, Rhythmic Record, and Melodic Disc. The iOS versions have retained the PSP games' content and their premium pricing. All three games cost $54.99 on the Apple App Store.
The price point puts Namco Bandai's games far above even the company's own previous high of $14.99 for the iOS version of Soul Calibur. The game also contains a DLC store for future song releases. The release of the expensive iDOLM@STER: Shiny Festa is a bold move by the publisher, especially in the crowded App Store.

Samsung is testing a way to control your mobile device with your brainwaves. If that project succeeds, it would truly be a case of science fiction brought to real life. According to MIT Technology Review, Samsung's Emerging Technology Lab is collaborating with Roozbeh Jafari, assistant professor of electrical engineering at the University of Texas, Dallas, on the early-stage research. That research involves placing a cap 'studded with EEG-monitoring electrodes' atop the head of a convenient subject, who then concentrates on an onscreen icon blinking at a particular rate. Concentrate hard enough, and the subject can launch and interact with applications. However, Samsung also indicated that mind-controlled mobile devices are quite a ways off, if they ever appear in a market-ready form at all. 'Several years ago, a small keypad was the only input modality to control the phone, but nowadays the user can use voice, touch, gesture, and eye movement to control and interact with mobile devices,' Insoo Kim, Samsung's lead researcher, told the Review. 'Adding more input modalities will provide us with more convenient and richer ways of interacting with mobile devices.' In any case, it's a crazy concept, the sort of thing Philip K. Dick might have written up as a short story; but it's one evidently grounded in reality.

While we like the convenience of shopping the iTunes Store from any device, that doesn't mean we want the download wherever we happen to be -- just ask anyone trying to buy the Beatles Box Set using a flaky coffee shop hotspot. As of a quiet update noticed by Macworld, customers won't have to risk a long wait for some of their impulse purchases. Buy from iTunes on any device and you now have the option to defer very large downloads, whether they're music box sets, movies or TV shows. Shoppers have to live in an area where iTunes in the Cloud is up and running for downloads elsewhere, but that's about the only major catch. Swing by the source link for Apple's explanation of how its delayed gratification works for each format.

Official teasers rarely provide much in the way of detail, but this one from Nokia at least comes with a pretty picture. It reveals the rounded design language we have come to associate with the company's latest feature phones, but with Z and Shift keys that imply we're looking at a physical QWERTY handset rather than a candy bar -- potentially something along the lines of the Asha 205. The picture is accompanied by a blog post confirming that this'll be a product from Nokia's Mobile Phones team rather than the folks behind Lumia, and that the announcement will happen at 7am GMT (3am ET) this Wednesday. The time zone is suggestive of an Asian or European launch, so it may or may not be worth setting your alarm clock.

We've seen a possible case, what could be the front portion of Apple's next iPad and this time around, Tactus has got its hands on the other half, the rear casing. Unfortunately, it's the not-so-interesting view, but we can still make out the space for the hole for the camera lens, sharper corners and the same dark blue finish we saw on both the fifth iteration of the iPhone and the iPad Mini. Tactus reckons it'll hold onto the original iPad's 9.7-inch display, but surround it with a thinner bezel. As for the rest of the specs that will eventually reside inside the redesigned shell, well, we'll have to wait for the official reveal from Apple for the full story.

Don't let the name fool ya -- "WhereverTV" wasn't on any iOS devices until this morning when the Neuros-powered streaming global television service got an App Store launch. It's intended for a wide variety of iOS devices -- the iPhone 3GS through the 5, as well as iPod Touches and iPads running iOS 4.3 or newer -- and offers access to WhereverTV free international TV streaming options, as well as paid options for Greek, Moroccan, and Arabic programming (the app's been available on Android devices for some time now).
Users aren't limited by connection, either, as even 3G signal is supported by the app; of course, we wouldn't suggest you go depending on that option, but it will functionshould you try. WhereverTV is also promising updates in the future, such as DVR scheduling and playback, as well as more free channels. That is, in addition to the company's ongoing quest to make good on its name.

Industry professionals discuss what devs can do to regulate and improve the business model
Self-regulation and educating parents are key to the future of in-app purchases in games, a number of developers have told Develop.
The Office of Fair Trading recently launched an investigation into the use of IAPs in children’s games after concern that some games had been using unfair practices to encourage users to spend money.
Speaking to Develop, Assyria MD Adam Green said that any controversy surrounding in-app purchases and free-to-play was less about games, and more about up-front parental controls and warnings.
He said that burying such crucial information in a menu was not enough, and that enabling or disabling parental controls should be a key part of the registration and login process.
“Additionally the 'would you like to pay $x for Y' should form part of the login box as kids will have clicked 'ok-buy' and got to the login page before they request a password off their parents, by which point there's no way for a parent to see what the child is actually trying to do.,” said Green

Underwhelming adoption rate could be due to limited launch.
Facebook has around 700 million monthly active mobile users, but the company's new Android-based Facebook Home service has only been downloaded from Google Play 500,000 times in five days, according to TechCrunch
Budding Home users must have the Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps for the feature to work, but theservice is only available for the newly released HTC First, as well as the HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy S III and Samsung Galaxy Note II, which could be stunting growth.
Meanwhile, Facebook has confirmed it is in talks with Apple and Microsoft to launch Home for iOS and Windows, and recently introduced the interface's Chat Heads messaging feature to devices running the iPhone maker's OS.

Lawbreaking maverick hit with AU$110 fee.
Here at Mobile Entertainment we strive to keep news diverse, whether that's reporting about apps, the mobile web or brands. But every now and then we happen across news that makes the mind boggle, such as a man declaring he was using his phone while driving because his ex-wife was harassing him.
Of course, driving while using the phone is a massive no-no in most countries, and it turns out riding a pushbike while using your mobile is also illegal in Australia.
A woman riding an outlandish double-decker bicycle found out the hard way when police cut her phone conversation short and handed her with a AU$110 fine, according to the Adelaide Now.
A spokesman, commented: "Cyclists are vulnerable road users and are reminded that the road rules also apply to them."

Samsung is to showcase its upcoming Galaxy Note 3 device at this year's IFA show in September ahead of its expected Q4 release.
Rumours surrounding the device continue to circulate, particularly regarding the device's near six-inch display and metallic outer body.
SamMobile reports that the device will feature a thinner, lighter display than its predecessor, the Note 2, measuring in at 5.99-inches.
Whilst the resolution of the Note 3's display is yet to be confirmed, SamMobile reports the device will feature an 'unbreakable' plastic display, moving away from the standard glass OLED screens used in Samsung's previous devices.
Combining both a metallic outer frame with an 'unbreakable' display will certainly make for a more durable device, but it remains to be seen if consumers will opt for a smartphone sporting an almost six-inch screen.

Sorry for the lack of updates for the past few weeks, but I have still been working on the Raspberry Pi version of my emulator. I have not done anything else to ax86 besides checking that my changes to rpix86 have not broken anything in ax86 (as they share most of the source code).
I again hope to focus more on ax86 in the future, but as I just released version 0.06 of rpix86, it is possible that I need to continue fixing bugs in it, in case I broke something or the new features do not work as expected. I will try to write short blog posts like this on here as well, though, even if I don't currently work much on ax86.
