Fisticuff enthusiast NetherRealm Studios is developing a free-to-play adaption of the upcoming Batman: Arkham Origins for release on iOS during the "console game launch window," Warner Bros. announced in a press release yesterday. An Android version will surface later on "in the holiday timeframe."
The mobile version will stage fights between Batman and "a number of DC Comics' most deadly assassins" within Gotham City. Besting bad guys will reward players with a "number of unique Batsuits" as well as "in-game currency and rewards." Those who register both the mobile and console versions with a Warner Bros. ID account will also gain access to exclusive content.

The Mercury News has an exclusive sneak peek of Apple's planned headquarters in Cupertino, which Steve Jobs personally sought approval for in 2011. 'We found that rectangles or squares or long buildings or buildings with more than four stories would inhibit collaboration,' Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer said, explaining the motivation behind the so-calledApple Ring. Nice, but if you wanted to hurt the feelings of the Design Gods at Apple, you could point out that, for all its $5 billion glory, what Apple calls 'the best office building ever' doesn't look all that different from an old-school $3.95 6250 BPI magnetic tape reel (still available on eBay, kids!)."

Ouya is preparing to unlock USB storage capabilities through a limited closed beta run, which will be rolled out in phases starting next week. Those who wish to participate in the closed beta may sign up through this page right now.
Outside of USB storage, this update – which Ouya is calling "Ogopogo" – also adds videos to game pages, so developers can upload footage to better sell their experiences to prospective buyers. Then there are the requisite bug fixes that come with any update, including a fix for the HDMI wakeup issue that has been bothering some Ouya owners out there.
Earlier this week, Ouya trumpeted a new milestone: 25,000 registered developers creating or have created Ouya games. Close to 500 games and apps exist on Ouya, which launched in July for $100. We spent a lot of time with the console, so if you'd like to know more our review is a great place to start.

HeroCraft is harvesting funds for real-time strategy game Lords of Discord, which is planned for release on iOS in June should it reach its funding goal. Android, Mac and Linux releases will follow in 2-month increments. A downloadable copy of the game can be secured by backing the project with ÂŁ6 (about $9.50).
Lords of Discord's turn-based, stationary battles will play out between the human and demon races, with around 30 units among each race to call to war. Units will earn experience in battle, advancing along their assigned skill trees and evolving into sub-class characters with new mechanics and aesthetics. Squads of common units will be led by Heroes, which will play the leading role in battles as one of three classes: the close-combat-favoring Warlord, the agile archer, Ranger, or the elementally-inclined Wizard.
Squads will fight to keep opposing forces away from their Citadel, a home base of sorts that will allow players to construct buildings, learn new spells and bring on additional units. Special units will also allow players to conduct Terramorphing, an act of transforming the map's terrain to better suit whichever race is conducting the Terramorph. The more land a race has Terramorphed to suit their needs, the more their conquest will be funded by mana and gold harvested from the map.
Lords of Discord will offer two race-specific campaigns comprised of a dozen missions each, though the game's Kickstarter page notes that the Demons' campaign will launch "a few months" after the game in a free update. The initial release will also include 10 maps to host battles between AI or human opponents. The game will also feature a turn-based "play-by-mail" option for multiplayer, which will allow players to log in, do their turn and then get back to work. Not that anyonewould play games at work.

One of our favorite travel photogs, Austin Mann, snapped up an iPhone 5 and flew to Iceland last year in order to pit Apple's latest flagship against its prior king in a bitterly cold camera test. This year, Mr. Mann hopped a flight down to Patagonia in order to pit the iPhone 5s' sensor against that of the 5. One of the more remarkable findings was the dynamic exposure applied to panoramas with the 5s; in his testing, pans that involved dark and light subjects were accounted for properly without the use of HDR. The result was a far more evenly lit panoramic image, whereas prior iPhone cameras tended to blow out a portion of the image to compensate for another portion.
The 5s also demonstrated dynamic range that was said to be "remarkably better" than on the 5. In post-processing, images taken with the 5s maintained integrity far better than the 5 when using Snapseed to recover details lost in shadows. Not surprisingly, shutter lag has gone from impressive to "nonexistent," and he noted that the 5s' burst mode is intensely useful for action shooters who need to quickly grab a litany of shots (say, of a lion pouncing on its next meal) and select the one with just a few swipes.
The iPhone 5's camera was certainly no slouch, but Apple's tweaking seems to have produced a markedly superior camera on the 5s. Interestingly, in a gallery of side-by-side comparison shots, the 5s displayed results that were a bit flatter with less noticeable contrast. According to Mann, "photographers will liken this to a RAW image, which doesn't look as nice off the bat, but has a lot more flexibility for editing on the backend." For more comparisons -- including a look at the 120FPS Slo Mo mode -- point your browser of choice right here.

With pretty much every spec of the Nexus 5 already leaked, it was only a matter of time before it popped up prematurely in a video. The seven-minute clip shows the device from all angles and running various apps like Google Earth, albeit without any sound. The unit matches a previous accidental photo leak from Google, but it's unlikely the final version; the software is listed as KeyLimePie, the back is marked with "Not For Sale" and the camera lens appears rough around the edges. One Week Creations notes that the original video (likely from retailer, Club SFR Smartphones) was set to private, but you can catch a rip of it via YouTuber Enaze Uddin after the break.

Google isn't done trying to improve exposure for tablet-optimized Android apps. As of November 21st, Google Play will default to showing "Designed for tablets" apps when owners of those bigger devices browse top lists. Customers can still find phone-sized software if they like, but those titles will be marked as "Designed for phones." While simple, the switch could represent a big help to tablet users building their app collections -- and developers looking for a little extra attention.

"It's been a long time since many have seen a dreaded "blue screen of death" (BSoD), but it's back and in the in the most unlikeliest of places. Oddly enough, some Apple iPhone 5S owners are reporting BSoD errors, though they're a little different from the ones you may remember seeing on Windows desktops. Rather than spit out an obscure error code with a generic description, some iPhone 5S devices are suddenly turning blue before automatically restarting. The Numbers app in Apple's iWork suite, a free program with new iPhones, seems to be the primary cause, though BSoD behavior has also been observed in other applications, according to complaints in Apple's support forum."

MeBoy is a gameboy / gameboy color emulator for Nokia S40 full touch and Asha phones. The MeBoy is based on JavaBoy developed by Neil Millstone. I just made a simple UI for it for the Nokia Asha phones. It has been a quite some time from my previous emulator port for mobile phones, and I kind of got bored doing them. However hacking with Nokia Asha got me started with this kind of projects again, and it was fun ;-)
Currently the games with battery saves are not working, but I’m trying to fix it. I’m recommending simple games from the beginning of the GameBoy era such as Super Mario 1, Duck Tales etc.
MeBoy running on S40 full touch:
Compatibility
As said, currently only simple games without battery saves are supported. You can find & edit the compatibility chart at MeBoy wiki-page at: https://github.com/Summeli/MeBoy-Asha/wiki
