The messaging app doubles downloads overnight and receives 60,000 five star reviews.
We reported yesterday that BBM had reached five million downloads, however if you thought that was impressive then get this – the messaging service has now hit a huge ten million downloads in the first 24 hours, doubling overnight.
It is one of the best single-day openings for a mobile app ever, moving up the rankings in 75 countries topping the charts in the App Store and earning around 60,000 five-star reviews on Google Play.
The waiting time to begin using BBM has really riled some people up - however if the general feedback from app stores is anything to go by, it sure is worth it.
We scoured the Internet and found out how people are reacting to the renewed BBM craze. Not all entirely intellectual, but straight from those who will use it the most.
Here are the top 15 reactions that tickled us:
1. ‘2007 called, they want BBM back.’
2. ‘Everyone got rid of Blackberries for iPhone cause they hated BBM, every iPhone user now has BBM? wtf RIP Blackberries your no longer used..’
3. ‘BBM: Another messenger to talk to the same people, it's like buying five remotes for the same TV.’
4. ‘After criticizing BBM for BB now the Android and iPhone users are all rushing after the app’
5. ‘The Universe is once again embracing BBM! In just 24 Hours 10 Million people have downloaded it! That's Amazzzzzing!
6. ‘It’s like using a BlackBerry, but you’re not using a BlackBerry’
7. ‘I'm pre-liking it because I'm still waiting in the bloody queue, so until further notice I hate it’
8. ‘This certainly takes you back and is just as great as it always was.’
9. ‘Not sure how this is going to stand against the likes of WhatsApp, Viber, free text messages, and all the other free messaging services that are out there now.’
10. ‘Seeing all these BBM pins is like Christmas three years ago.’
11. ‘Top tip on how to use BBM without waiting in line: Buy a BlackBerry!!!’
12. ‘Thank god there’s now BBM for iPhone. We can finally talk to the remaining 3 people on the planet with Blackberry's’
13. ‘I feel like a kid on Santa’s knee, except Santa is telling me to sit there for 24 hours until I get my f**king present. So worth it though. It’s a comfortable knee.”
14. ‘Simply the best messaging app out there - Always was, always will be. Good move BlackBerry.’
15. ‘BBM is making man feel stupid waiting in line like its lunchtime. Am I some Dick'ed Biscuit’

Belkin has revealed a new set of accessories for therecently announced iPad Air.
The range includes three new QODE-branded keyboard cases, and a line of protective folio covers which Belkin says are “designed around the way you use your iPad”.
The three products under the new QODE brand name include the QODE Ultimate Keyboard Case, which has dual-sided aluminium for protection and is aimed at “those looking to use their iPad as a laptop replacement”. It also includes a rechargeable battery with 264 hours of battery life. The Ultimate Keyboard Case will cost £109.99.
Meanwhile, the £89.99 QODE Thin Type for iPad Air is designed for portability and “ease of attachment for those who don’t want a keyboard all the time”, offering 79 hours of battery life and technology that automatically turns the keyboard off when not in use.
The last product, the QODE Thin Style is focused on a slim design which still protects the iPad and can be tucked away flat for touch screen use in ‘handheld media mode’.
All of the cases include Belkin’s ‘TruType’ keyboard, which the accessory firm says gives ”superior typing accuracy, optimal tactile response and a comfortable, laptop-like feel”.
Belkin’s iPad Air collection consists of eight unique cases and folios.
The FreeStyle Cover is said to be Belkin’s thinnest case, and uses a QuickStand cover that operates both as a stand and additional protection.
The LapStand Cover (£44.99–£49.99) is made for “use while lounging” and has ‘ComfortForm’ material, which is designed to keep the iPad Air balanced on a lap.
For those looking for more style, the FormFit (£39.99) comes in a range of colours and patterns.
Also available is the Classic Strap Cover (£24.99), the TriFold Cover (£34.99), the Stripe Tab Cover (£39.99), the Dash Tab Cover (£39.99), the Quilted Cover (£44.99) and the MultiTasker Cover (£49.99).

Windows Phone naysayers have always argued that the OS doesn't have enough of the most popular apps out there, but Microsoft is quieting down the critics, one a handful of apps at a time. This time around, we can add Flipboard to the list of in-demand apps that are finally coming to Nokia devices. We'll first see the app on its first Windows RT tablet, the Lumia 2520, as the company just announced on stage at Nokia World, before it rolls out to Windows Phone 8 devices in the coming weeks.
The Lumia 2520 is also set to launch with Nokia's new Storyteller app, displaying photos and videos in the form of stories, as well as the updated Camera app, which is already coming to Nokia's 6-inch smartphone: the Lumia 1520.

Samsung's on a mission... to make a Galaxy phone for everyone. If you're in the UK, and fancy a mid-range slice-of-Sam, then maybe the Galaxy Express 2 is the right fit for you? Exclusive to Vodafone stores at launch (more retailers to follow,) the Express 2 has a fairly sizeable 4.5-inch (qHD) display, comes with Android 4.2/JellyBean, a 1.7GHz dual-core processor, 8GB onboard memory (expandable by a further 64GB via SD card) and 5-megapixel camera. The LTE phone comes with all the regular software trappings we've come to know and love/not mind from Samsung, such as S Travel, S Translator and Story Album. There will be two color options when it launches with Vodafone tomorrow (Ceramic White, and Rigel Blue,) the latter being exclusive to the UK's "big red." Clearly this aims to mop up all the Galaxy S4 Mini customers that wanted a slightly larger screen, in exchange for a worse camera. No word on price though, we'll update the news once we find out.

If you've been curious why the screen on your Kindle Fire HDX has a blueish tint around the edges, wonder no more. To help achieve the HDX's vaunted color accuracy, Amazon used blue LEDs to light the display, which is why you see an azure hue peeking out around the screen's sides on books and web sites. The shopping giant further explains that this lighting technique increases battery life by 20 percent too. The "we want you to know" heading on the HDX's product page has the full details, and our video review is a click away if you're still on the fence about buying one.

After a couple of high-profile reports about how the plastic iPhone isn't faring too well in the laser-cut shadow of the iPhone 5s, here's a bit of evidence to the contrary. It comes courtesy of stat collectors at an app marketing platform called Localytics, who claim they've spotted a distinct upwards trend in the number of Americans using a 5c relative to a 5s. Whereas usage of the flagship metal iPhone was 3.4x higher during the launch weekend, this ratio has drifted down to 1.9x one month later, suggesting that a secondary wave of not-so-early adopters is happy to give the cheaper model a bit more consideration. Of course, these ratios don't tell us anything about absolute sales figures for either handset -- we'll have to wait on first-hand info from carriers or from Apple itself (perhaps as part of today's event) before we know those.

Over 64% of compatible devices are already running iOS 7, according to Apple, making it by far the company's most successful mobile operating system. In all, iOS 7 was downloaded over 200 million times in the first five days after it was released.
Apple also reported paying developers over $13 billion to date, thanks to the over 1 million apps available in the App Store, which have hit over 60 billion cumulative downloads. (Apple still has the edge over Android; there are about 900,000 apps available in the Google Play store.)

If you've been waiting for the MacBook Pro with Retina display to get a big processor upgrade, today's your lucky day. Apple has just refreshed its high-end portable line with Intel's Haswell chips, delivering Iris graphics and battery life improvements much like those from the recent MacBook Air update. The 13-inch model manages nine hours of battery life, and the 15-inch unit can last for eight hours on a charge. Both computers carry faster PCI Express solid-state drives, Thunderbolt 2 ports and 802.11ac WiFi, while a higher-end 15-inch variant ships with dedicated GeForce GT 750M video. Either new Mac costs less than its predecessor, too. The 13-inch system starts at $1,299 for a model with a dual-core 2.4GHz Core i5, 4GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD; its 15-inch counterpart starts at $1,999 with a quad-core 2GHz Core i7, 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. Both laptops are available today.
Update: Apple has quietly axed the non-Retina 15-inch model; you can still buy its 13-inch sibling (unchanged since its early 2013 update) at a lower $999 price.

Pointing out that it was once mocked as something that would "never replace netbooks," Apple CEO Tim Cook boasted that the company has sold 170 million iPads since the device's launch. "Remember netbooks?" He quipped. According to Cook, there are 475,000 iPad apps, and they're not those "stretched out" apps you may see on other platforms.
Of course, Apple faces continued competition from those other platforms, and, has seen its market share drop from 60 percent of all tablet sales a year ago to 32 percent by this summer, according to IDC. However, iPads, according to Cook, are used up to four times as much as competing tablets, and are ranked first in customer satisfaction (presumably by J.D. Power).

Turns out it's not just Macs getting an OS update today. Apple has now also released version 7.0.3 of iOS -- a decidedly less major upgrade, but one that will no doubt be welcome to anyone having technical issues since updating to iOS 7. It's not all bug fixes, though. The update also brings with it support for iCloud Keychain to let you share passwords and credit card info across your various devices, along with a new password generator for Safari that will help you choose more secure passwords. You can find a rundown of all the promised fixes at the link below.

T-Mobile CEO John Legere was dropping hints last week that his carrier would play a part in the new iPad launches, and we now know just what he meant. The Apple Storementions that both the iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display will have options for T-Mobile LTE in addition to the AT&T, Sprint and Verizon support we've seen in previous iPad generations. There's even a special treat for choosing Magenta's network -- like customers using other 4G Connect devices, iPad owners will get 200MB of free data per month. They can pay for 2.5GB ($30) or 4.5GB ($40) per month if they need more, and the device remains unlocked. The new option only makes sense in places with good T-Mobile coverage, but it could prove tempting for iPad fans who aren't keen on paying for cellular data.

"I installed Ubuntu Touch "1.0" on my first-generation Nexus 7 tablet and have been using it as my main tablet system for the last four days. Here's how it went. First off, the installation was surprisingly painless. I followed the official instructions and didn't encounter a single problem. That being said, the installation is really geared toward software developers, power users or people already comfortable on a Linux command line. If you're not in one of those categories, I recommend holding off for the time being. Once installed, Ubuntu Touch booted up rather quickly — in only just a few seconds (a fair bit faster than Android 4.x on the same tablet). And, immediately, I was presented with a short tutorial that appears the first time the system is booted, which, I might add, has got to be one of the slickest, least annoying tutorials I've seen. But... there were problems. The battery life was, to put it mildly, terrible. Performance has been mixed, and the OS was prone to what I call 'The Pulsating Seizure Feature' a few dozen times over the weekend. In a nutshell: launching apps (and, occasionally, moving between apps) can cause the device to freeze and begin flashing the screen rapidly."

You know what it's like, you're in the cinema enjoying an amazing piece of workmanship on the silver screen, only to have it spoiled by an annoying glow a few seats away – something Morphsuits tried to stop last year.
Fear not, in-screen phone use is soon to be a thing of the past. Sort of.
American cinema chain AMC, who has more than 400 Stateside venues and one in Manchester, UK, has plans to introduce a texting aisle to theatres in the US, according toThe Independent.
The idea is to cut down on the number of rogues who use their mobiles and disturb the cinematic experience, adding soundproofing and barriers to the rear row to prevent disturbance. Regal and IMAX are also said to be considering similar initiatives.
Presumably it means couples looking for a popcorn and petting session will now need to do so at the front of the screens, with sexting replacing back row fondling.
Meanwhile, Shazam is currently condoning in-cinema device use, encouraging cinema goers to tag adverts in exchange for freebies and competitions.

9.7-inch tablet is 20 per cent thinner and 28 per cent lighter than the iPad 4.
After all of the iPad 5 talk that's simmered for months, Apple's new tablet has arrived in the form of the iPad Air, which takes inspiration from its lightweight MacBook line.
Additionally, Apple has also revealed the iPad Mini with retina display.
The new tablet weighs just one pound and is 20 per cent thinner and lighter than the iPad 4 and comes with the usual 9.7-inch screen.
Meanwhile, the bezel and edges around the screen have been given a trim to make content on the retina display stand out more.
The Air also features A7 chip, which helps the ten-hour battery life consume less power, wi-fi and LTE connectivity and it is, of course, powered by iOS 7. Colour options include silver or grey.
The App Store now features more than one million apps, with 475,000 of those made solely for iPad.
Pricing for the wi-fi version is as follows: 16GB £339; 32GB £479; 64GB £559; 128GB £639.
Pricing for the wi-fi and LTE version is as follows: 16GB £499; 32GB £579; 64GB £659; 128GB £739.
Meanwhile, the 16GB iPad 2 with wi-fi now costs £329 and £429 for the 16GB wi-fi and 3G model.
Sales of the iPad Air begin on November 1st.
Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, said: "iPad created an entirely new mobile computing experience, and the new iPad Air is another big leap ahead. It is so thin, light and powerful, once you hold one in your hand you will understand what a tremendous advancement this is.
"iPad Air with its 9.7-inch Retina display weighs just one pound and packs the incredible performance of iOS 7 running on a 64-bit desktop-class Apple A7 chip, and delivers all-day battery life in the lightest full-sized tablet in the world."
Since when is ten hours "all-day"?
Comparatively, Nokia introduced a 10.1-inch tablet earlier today for $500.

And it will cost you up to £659 for the pleasure of owning one.
Apple's so-called iPad 5 has arrived as the iPad Air, while what was expected to be named the iPad 2 has been dubbed the iPad Mini with retina display.
Catchy.
The sequel shrunken tablet still sports a 7.9-inch screen, which now boasts 1080p HD viewing thanks to the retina display.
Meanwhile, the A7 chip featured in the iPad Air can also be found in the Mini to offer eight times the graphics performance of its predecessor.
Most businesses that introduce small tablets opt for seven-inch designs, such as the newly released Tesco Hudl and Argos MyTablet, but Apple is keen to note its Mini has a 35 per cent larger screen.
Pricing is as follows for the wi-fi versions: 16GB £319; 32GB £399; 64GB £479; 128GB £559.
Pricing is as follows for the wi-fi and LTE versions: 16GB £419; 32GB £499; 64GB £579; 128GB £659.
Additionally, the original iPad mini is now costs £249 for the 16GB wi-fi model and £349 for the 16GB wi-fi and cellular version.
iPad Mini with retina display will launch in November, but no word on the exact date.
The App Store now features more than one million apps, with 475,000 of those made solely for iPad.

Apple has announced a new iPad and iPad Mini alongside fresh MacBook Pros and more.
The new iPad Air weighs one pound, and is powered by a 64-bit Apple A7 processing chip, which was said to have twice the performance of the iPad 4 and runs 72 times faster than the original iPad. The M7 motion processor chip, found in the iPhone 5S, is also in the iPad Air.
The tablet has a five megapixel iSight camera, which can record HD video, two microphones for FaceTime, and is available in silver, white, black and Space Grey. The battery life is equal to that of its predecessors – 10 hours. It will be released on November 1st, starting at $499 (£308).
The new iPad Mini features Apple’s Retina display, meaning that it has the same resolution as the iPad Air. Also shared with the iPad Air is the A7 chip, giving it a four-times processor and eight-times graphics boost over the old iPad Mini, which has been reduced to $299 (£184).
The new iPad Mini, like the iPad Air, will be available in silver, white, Space Grey and black, and will start at $399 (£246) when it’s released “later in November”.
Apple also showed off a new Mac Pro, held a demonstration of OS X Mavericks and the news of a series of free updates for its iLife apps.

Senior VP of software engineering at Apple, Craig Federighi, took to the stage at the new iPad Air announcement event to showcase the latest Mac operating system update: OS X Mavericks.
He also revealed a new MacBook Pro and Mac Pro.
The OS is said to be built on three main components: “core technologies, features to smooth the experience and apps.”
Federighi went on to state that just by installing Mavericks, Mac users could extend their battery life by an hour.
The OS also brings improvements for the iBooks app, which will allow users to view videos inside the book they are reading, and Calendar, which can extract information from messages and emails to automatically schedule appointments.
"It’s a fantastic release that extends your battery life, has some great new features and some really fun new apps,” said Federighi.
“It’s a new era for the Mac.”
Mavericks is free for Mac users, and is available now.
Following the Mavericks announcements, Apple senior VP Phil Schiller took the stage to reveal a new 13-inch MacBook Pro, which is powered by an Intel Haswell processor, and is claimed to have nine hours of battery life. The 13-inch MacBook starts at $1,299 (£801) and is available now.
A bigger brother to the 13-inch MacBook Pro was also revealed – the 15-inch MacBook Pro, which has a Crystalwell graphics chip and starts at $1,999 (£1234).
Apple then unveiled a new Mac Pro, which they say is powered by the fastest chip they’ve ever designed – the Intel Xeon E5 – and which also has the fastest memory ever produced by the company.
Joining the powerhouse components is 1TB of flash storage and dual workstation graphics, which Apple said is enough to power three 4K displays, while staying “astonishingly” quiet.
The Mac Pro starts at $2999 (£1850) with 12GB of RAM.
Apple also announced several updates and changes to its ‘iLife’ series of apps. The image app iPhoto has been redesigned with its Photobooks feature added to iPads.
iMovie has also been revamped, with several desktop features making their way onto its mobile versions.
The music production app GarageBand has also been redesigned, and can record up to 32 tracks on 64-bit devices.
The app features virtual musicians who can improvise and fill around user-created audio, but who can also be edited and adjusted by users.
The iLife updates are free and available today, and join a revamped set of iWork apps, which have had iCloud support added.
