Big Blue Bubble’s hugely popular and critically-hailed My Singing Monsters is the winner of the Global Game Stars (GGS) competition at GMIC 2013, passing hundreds of other titles from around the world represented at the Silicon Valley technology conference this past Wednesday.
The event kicked off Monday, October 21st, with three full days of seminars, panel discussions, and exhibitions, as well as talks from industry moguls and mobile specialists. The Global Game Stars competition was adjudicated by several major players, to include representatives from Onavo, PopCap, and Kabam, among others.
My Singing Monsters first received the distinction of a GGS Top 10 finalist, recognized alongside games from Canada, USA, Denmark, China and more. Directed by Big Blue Bubble CEO Damir Slogar, a demo of the game was presented in front of hundred of attendees at the Thought Leaders Stage. Following the presentation, My Singing Monsters was revealed as the winner of the competition.
“We were up against some really innovative games, but it’s great to walk away #1!” said Bryan Davis, Business Development Manager for Big Blue Bubble.

Sony announced that it will release PlayStation®App, a new application for mobile devices, on November 13, 2013 in North America, and on November 22, 2013 in Europe. PlayStation®App will be available free of charge.
Playstation®App can be downloaded onto various mobile devices, such as iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch and Android™ based smartphones and tablets, from the App Store and Google Play*1. Once installed, these devices can be used as second screens in supported PlayStation®4 (PS4™) titles, and users can easily access PSNSM features such as Friend Lists and Trophies. Furthermore, users will be able to exchange messages with members of their Friends List, and browse through news and information on the official PlayStation®website. PlayStation®App comes with a variety of features that allow users to seamlessly access and enjoy the world of PlayStation®.
The following features are available on PlayStation®App:
- Directly access various PSNSM features and information
- Users can access their own profile screen.

Metz, located in Lorraine, has been for centuries an historic garrison town. After its annexation to Germany following the Battle of France in 1940, it became a stronghold for the Third Reich and a major target for the Allied forces. Following the Normandy landings, the U.S. Third Army under the command of General George S. Patton attacked the city fortifications and, after four months of fighting, broke through and freed Metz from occupation in late 1944.
Soon you will be able to relive those days in the latest expansion of one of the most critically-acclaimed tactical wargames, Battle Academy: Fortress Metz. With new Panzer Brigades and units like the German Jagdpanzer IV/70, the Hummel, Sdkfz 234/1 armored cars and more, Fortress Metz is a must-have expansion!

Apple's plan to launch the iPad Air with cellular data support for T-Mobile was apparently just the start of a larger strategy. US Cellular has announced that it will offer the featherweight tablet on November 8th, while regional carriers like Bluegrass Cellular, C Spire and GCI say that they'll stock the device in the "coming weeks." Of the bunch, only US Cellular has mentioned that it will also sell the iPad mini with Retina display; that's not surprising, though, when Apple hasn't even picked a release date for its own stores. It's doubtful that the new cellular iPad providers will make a big impact on Cupertino's bottom line, but the company clearly wants to leave no network uncovered.

One may seem like a paragon of modernity compared to its 94-year-old rival, but the UK's two biggest retailers have a lot in common. For starters, both Amazon and Tesco succeeded far beyond their original missions (bookseller and greengrocer, respectively) to become retail giants. Both understand the value of consumer data and exploit that information mercilessly. Finally, both sell dirt-cheap Android tablets in the hopes of maintaining a foothold in our living rooms, hearts, minds and, most importantly, wallets.
In the UK, there are around 50 million people who don't own a tablet or any other mobile computing device. That's the group of people that Tesco is going after with theHudl, an Android tablet that's aimed squarely at "them" rather than "us." Priced at ÂŁ119 ($191), but available for ÂŁ60 ($91) if you redeem Clubcard vouchers, it's not a surprise that the company sold 35,000 units after launch. So, is it better than the Kindle Fire that it seeks to emulate? And when all is said and done, is this the device for which we'll be stuck doing technical support when the in-laws inevitably purchase it?

Still waiting for Google to make its often-leaked Nexus 5 official? Sit tight -- one leak suggests the device's unveiling could be just around the corner. The latest render from @evleaks shows a two-toned Nexus 5 with a white backplate, but the post's text is even more revealing: "In white," it says. "11/1." It's definitely a vague statement, but in light of Google Play's recent product page leak, an early November launch would be right on schedule. The latest rumors and leaks promise a device with a 4.95-inch 1080p display, a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 CPU and LTE available in both 16 and 32GB models and, apparently, in black or white. Reportedly starting at $349, it certainly has our attention. We'll let you know when we hear something official.

Email service FastMail.fm has an blog post about an interesting bug they're dealing with related to the new Mail.app in Mac OS 10.9 Mavericks. After finding a user who had 71 messages in his Junk Mail folder that were somehow responsible for over a million entries in the index file, they decided to investigate. 'This morning I checked again, there were nearly a million messages again, so I enabled telemetry on the account ... [Mail.app] copying all the email from the Junk Folder back into the Junk Folder again!. This is legal IMAP, so our server proceeds to create a new copy of each message in the folder. It then expunges the old copies of the messages, but it's happening so often that the current UID on that folder is up to over 3 million. It was just over 2 million a few days ago when I first emailed the user to alert them to the situation, so it's grown by another million since. The only way I can think this escaped QA was that they used a server which (like gmail) automatically suppresses duplicates for all their testing, because this is a massively bad problem.' The actual emails added up to about 2MB of actual disk usage, but the bug generated an additional 2GB of data on top of that.

Like the DualShock 3, the next iteration of the PlayStation controller design works surprisingly well on an Apple-branded computer. Product developer Chris Gallizzi demonstrates the functionality in a Vine clip below, but offers no explanation on how he was able to convince the Sony controller to play nice with Apple's hardware.
If the DualShock 4 functions similarly to its predecessor in this capacity, it should offer simple Bluetooth connectivity under OS X. Simply fire up your Mac, turn on the controller, follow a few simple instructions, and you're done. Creating the link takes less than five minutes, and requires no more skill than changing your desktop's wallpaper.

An anonymous reader writes with a link to the New York Times' summary of a security and privacy disaster that's been inspiring angry posts on various social networks, including LinkedIn itself:"Security researchers are calling LinkedIn's new mobile app, Intro, a dream come true for hackers or intelligence agencies... Intro redirects e-mail traffic to and from users' iPhones and iPads through LinkedIn's servers, then analyzes and scrapes those e-mails for relevant data and adds pertinent LinkedIn details... Researchers liken that redirection to a so-called man-in-the-middle attack in which hackers, or more recently, intelligence agencies, intercept Internet traffic en route to its destination and do what they will with it."

If you're a Twitter user and you own an iPhone, chances are you'll have come acrossTweetbot, the popular Twitter client from Tapbots. Following Apple's iOS 7 announcement back in June, the two-man team has been hard at work rewriting the app to utilize the new features and fit with the cleaner look of Apple's latest OS. Just over a month after iOS 7 launched, the app is finally ready: Tweetbot 3.0 is available for $2.99 on the App Store.

Despite absorbing MeeGo, learning to run Android apps and pushing through asignificant UI overhaul, devices running Tizen are notoriously hard to come by. Developers eyeing the platform in Japan, however, just got one more option: the Tizen build kit, from Systena. It's a package that includes developer tools, manuals and technical and consulting services from Systena, but the real star of the kit is the included 10.1-inch developer tablet. Packing a quad-core 1.4 GHz ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage underneath a 1,920 x 1,200 display, this slab offers a Tizen 2.1 experience built specifically for app development and product demonstration. The company hasn't publicly posted a price for the kit, but interested developers can request more information through the company's website. The rest of us will have to settle for flashing our own devices.

Brits in the market for a cheap 7-inch tablet have been spoiled of late, what with the launch of Tesco's ÂŁ119 Hudl and Argos' ÂŁ100 MyTablet. "But, hang on," Carphone Warehouse's thought, "we sell a budget tablet, too." And so, seeking some attention itself, the UK retailer has discounted its Avoca tablet from ÂŁ99 to ÂŁ49 (around $80) -- until November 4th when the offer expires, anyway. That investment will get you a 7-inch display at 800 x 480 resolution, a 1GHz Rockchip CPU, half a gig of RAM, 8GB internal storage (a microSD slot for up to 32GB cards is present), a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, a WiFi radio, Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and, of course, a healthy dose of bezel. Carphone Warehouse may have succeeded in undercutting its UK competition, if only temporarily, but we can't help but think you'll probably get what you pay for in this instance.

If you were disappointed that your country missed out on the initial iPhone 5s andiPhone 5c launches, we have good news: you can (probably) buy the smartphones today. As promised, Apple has released both devices in 35 more countries, including Russia, South Korea and wide swaths of Europe. There hasn't been quite as much fanfare as there was in September, however. Our colleagues at Engadget Chinesecovered the launch in Taiwan, and noticed that retail demand was mixed -- since many customers could pre-order their iPhones, only some stores had long queues. Those who haven't yet seen the new iPhones won't have to wait long, at least. Apple plans to ship the 5s and 5c to 16 more countries on November 1st, and the handsets should reach100 nations by December.

Many have griped about the Moto X's $200 on-contract price, which is a lot to pay for hardware that's frequently considered mid-range. Motorola must have heard that grousing, as the price of its 16GB Android flagship has dropped to $100 for both AT&T's Moto Maker variant as well as the plainer Sprint and US Cellular versions. AT&T's customized 32GB phone is also cheaper at $150. The regular 16GB AT&T and Verizon editions still sell through the carriers for $200, although it's possible to pick up either of them for $100 at third-party stores like Amazon. While the discounts won't sway those who insist on high-end hardware, they could easily tip the balance for anyone who was holding out for a better deal.

Scentee wants to expand your smartphone horizons and add smell to the senses your phone already stimulates. The plug-in accessory attaches to headphone socket on both iPhones and Android smartphones and, when told to by the companion app, releases a burst of fragrance, paired with a customizable LED light. It's ridiculous, but that's very much part of the Japan-made accessory's charm. The most important factor here is arguably the range of scents available, and Scentee hasn't held back. In no particular order, aromas include rose, mint, cinnamon roll, bacon, coffee, curry, jasmine, ylang-ylang, lavender, apple, coconut, strawberry and er, corn soup. They're joined by a special limited edition Korean BBQ collection that'll be available on November 15 and includes three extra 'flavors': two different type of meat and, well, baked potato. This bundle's particularly skewed towards Japanese customers, although we're already infatuated with the idea of on-demand bacon smells. We've sniffed our way through several options during our time with the accessory -- the video (and more details) are right after the break.
