Two new models with curved screens and new sensors planned for release next year.
Apple is said to be working on two new iPhone designs featuring larger displays and glass screens that curve down at the edges, reports Bloomberg.
New sensors may also be included on the devices that can tell the difference between a light or heavy touch.
The screen size of iPhone has always resulted in the smartphones being overshadowed by rivals such as the Samsung Galaxy range, which has a selection of different sized displays to choose from.
The rumoured phones are to boast a 4.7 inch and 5.5 inch screen making them the largest iPhone to date, and putting them in a better position to compete against larger counterparts.
Dennis Chan, an analyst at Yuanta Financial Holding Co, said: “Screen size is one of the things where Apple has to catch up to the Android Camp.”
Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Round – the world’s first curved display smartphone with a 5.7-inch, Super AMOLED, Full HD screen, 7.9mm thickness and a weight of 154g
LG also released a curvy smartphone, with Wolverine-like self-healing body in late October.

Since Vodafone rolled out its 4G services, it has experienced quite a mix up in customer behavior concerning device usage.
44 per cent of Kiwis use their 4G ready mobile as a portable hotspot so they can access the internet on their tablets or laptops, where as before people were more likely to find a café or shop with free wi-fi.
It appears as though people are really taking advantage of the increased speeds, as the most popular activities online when using a 4G device are shopping, streaming music and videos, reports Vodafone New Zealand.
In other parts of the world, 4G is not being as warmly embraced as in NZ. In China, less than ten per cent are happy to pay for 4G, even though 80 per cent were't impressed with their current mobile network speed.
62 per cent of New Zealanders are using video streaming sites more since upgrading from 3G, and are more likely to stream music from free services such as Spotify.
4G usage hits a high during lunchtime, and then again as kids finish school and commuters tackle the long commute home.
Vodafone has acquired more than 1.3 million Kiwis across the country since launching the 4G services in New Zealand just over eight months ago.

Neo.emu v1.5.13 is released. NEO.emu is a Neogeo arcade and home system emulator based on Gngeo 0.8-svn (GPL), designed and tested on the original Droid/Milestone, Xoom, and Xperia Play, but works on many devices with similar specs (performance is better than previously released Neogeo apps from personal testing). * Multiplayer-capable Wiimote + Classic Controller, iControlPad, and Zeemote JS1 support (no need to purchase a separate app, see website for full instructions)

It's less than a day until we're expecting to see carriers other than AT&T offercustomization options for the Moto X, and it looks as if Verizon's already getting its ducks in a row. One of our eagle-eyed readers has spotted that Big Red has thrown up a Moto Maker page, which should, from tomorrow, let you select various cover and button combinations for Google's new mid-ranger. Naturally, the page is currently inactive, but at least you can bookmark it ahead of tomorrow's anticipated announcement, right?

[Brett's] girlfriend is very concerned about cell phone security — So much so that she used a PIN so secure, even she couldn’t remember it.
Beyond forgetting the PIN, the phone also had encryption enabled, the bootloader locked, and zero permissions for the Android Device Manager to change the PIN. Lucky for her, [Brett] had purchased an STM32F4Discovery Development Board a few months ago, and was itching for a suitable project for it.
Now unfortunately, Android allows you to pick a PIN of anywhere between 4 and 8 digits, which as you can guess, results in a massive number of possible permutations. She was pretty sure it was only 6 digits, and that she didn’t use a 1, 2, or 3… and she thought it started with a 4 or a 7… and she didn’t think any of the digits were repeated… This helped narrow it down a bit, from 1 million possibilities to about 5,000 — assuming all of the boundary conditions she remembers are in fact correct.
[Brett] started by writing a C library to generate permutations of the PIN, testing the board on his own phone to make sure it works with a known PIN, and boom, they were in business.
28,250 PIN attempts later, they decided they were not. Did we mention you can only enter 5 PINs in every 30 seconds?

Microsoft might have just shared a slew of happy Xbox One news, but it also has something sad to announce: the death of Xbox Video support for Zune. To be precise: Zune's PC client, whatever Zune players are left out there and even Windows Phone 7 devices will no longer be able to play Xbox Video content starting February 2014. Redmond says it's a result of the company updating its video catalog to be able to add high-quality files to the service more quickly. Seeing as Zune marketplace was also axed recently, this doesn't come as a huge surprise. That doesn't mean you can only use Xbox Video on the company's consoles, though -- it'll still be very much accessible on Windows Phone 8 devices, Windows 8/8.1 PCs and the service's yet-to-be-launched website.

One of the hallmark features of Google's Nexus 5 flagship smartphone by LG isn't its bodaciously big 5-inch HD display, its 8MP camera, or its "OK Google" voice commands. That has all been done before. What does stand out about the Nexus 5 is Google's new Android 4.4 Kit Kat OS and LG's SoC (System on Chip) processor of choice, namely Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 quad-core. Qualcomm is known for licensing ARM core technology and making it their own; and Qualcomm's latest Krait 400 quad-core along with the Adreno 330 GPU that comprise the Snapdragon 800, is a powerful beast. Google also has taken the scalpel to Kit Kat in all the right places, whittling down the overall footprint of the OS, so it's more efficient on lower-end devices and also offers faster multitasking. Specifically memory usage has been optimized in a number of areas. Couple these OS tweaks with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 800 and you end up with a smartphone that hugs the corners and lights 'em up on the straights. Putting the Nexus 5 through its paces, it turns out preliminary figures are promising. In fact, the Nexus 5 actually was able to surpass the iPhone 5s with Apple's 64-bit A7 processor in a few tests and goes toe to toe with it in gaming and graphics."Ars Technica has a similarly positive view of the hardware aspects of the phone, dinging it slightly for its camera but otherwisefinding little to fault.

via http://0xff.akop.org/2013/10/31/spar...6-20-released/
I have just released a new version of Spark 360 to Google Play. This is a minor maintenance release which fixes a number of bugs, such as the appearance of PSN popups and Xbox Live status information. This release also adds Terms of Use Update warnings, which should explicitly notify you if the terms on the site change (they have changed very recently), and removes the MS Points converter, since Xbox Live is discontinuing the use of Points.
Since it’s been almost a year since the last Spark 360 release, now seems a good time to mention my future plans with the app. Since releasing its source, my goal has been to maintain it in a workable state, if not occasionally add features. While there haven’t been any new features lately, I have tried to keep the application workable – if a defect persists for an unusual length of time, there’s a good chance that I’m not aware of it (in which case it’d be a good idea to file a new issue at GitHub).
As for longer-term plans for the app – it’s probably a safe bet that I won’t be able to make any more large scale changes (and there are many to make). I was hoping that open sourcing the app would create an influx of third-party contributions, but that has not been the case, and I have since moved on to other projects.
Xbox One is now a little more than two weeks away, and chances are the web interface will change dramatically to accommodate the console’s new features. If that does occur, work on the app will likely cease – I don’t get a chance to play as much as I used to, which also limits my interaction with the app.
Of course if the changes are minor, I will continue to do my best to keep the app functional.

In this article I’m going to create a jQueryMobile based client for Jamendo Radio.
The JQuery Mobile based UIs can be run on almost every smartphone platform; iOS, Android, Windows Phone, BlackBerry10, Tizen, Firefox OS etc. The development of JQuery Mobile based UIs is very nice, since you can develop them with HTML and JavaScript in a standard desktop browser.
