The chaps at Delphi were just showing us a cool concept; they were using a web app on an iPhone to control a GMC Acadia vehicle. The prototype on display was able to check the automobiles vital stats, open and close windows, retain user configurations for seating options and even start the ignition. Check out the video of it in action after the jump.
The iPhone takes control of these options remotely, which could be dangerous, but as it is only at concept stage, we are sure Delphi will work out the nooks in the system. Either way, we imagine this will give rise to a whole new motor sport; racing real cars with Wi-Fi connected iPhones—sweet. Make it happen, Delphi.

Freeware application ourTunes downloads music from any shared iTunes library on your network to any folder on your computer. There's a good chance you've heard of ourTunes (or a similar app, myTunes) before, as it used to be the go-to app for sharing music with your peers using your iTunes library, but every time Apple updated iTunes, ourTunes would die another death. Well, it's back, and it works with iTunes 7. I hadn't used ourTunes in a while, and things seemed to be working differently, so to get you up and running, here's how it works.
First you'll want to download the ourTunes.jar file from the Save OurTunes web site. If it's not already installed, you'll also need to download and install Java on your computer.
Now fire up iTunes and ourTunes on your computer. Before you go any further, I'd recommend choosing a download folder for all that music you're about to download. Done? Then let's move ahead.
If there are other computers on your network, you'll see them start popping up in the ourTunes (and iTunes, for that matter) sidebar. In ourTunes, click on the name of the library you want to download music from. ourTunes will work a little magic, creating a duplicate entry for this shared library in your iTunes sidebar. Click on the duplicate library in iTunes, let it load the library, and then you're ready to go.
So how do you download songs? Easy—just play the song in iTunes and ourTunes will start sucking down the file to the folder you chose above. It downloads quickly, so you don't have to listen to the entire song before moving to the next. Generally songs just take a few seconds to land on your desktop.
Problems?
I only ran into one problem testing ourTunes, and it only appeared on my Mac (Windows tests went without a hitch). When you choose the download folder, for some reason ourTunes was incorrectly saving the folder with a weird sort of duplication. That is, if I chose ~/Documents as my download folder, ourTunes tried saving to ~/Documents/Documents. The way I got around this was to create a second Documents folder inside the original Documents folder, then choose ~\Documents as my download directory. I'd assume this bug will be addressed eventually, but in the meantime that workaround should do the trick.
If you're sick of the restrictions Apple places on iTunes music sharing on your local network, ourTunes will do the trick. ourTunes is freeware, Windows and Mac only, requires Java.

With just Jiggy and a browser, you'll be able to write an awesome iPhone application in a matter of minutes. JiggyApps run natively on the iPhone, so there is no messing around with HTML and the limitations of Mobile Safari. At the same time, you don't need a compiler or even a Mac, because JiggyApps are written in JavaScript.

Categories allows you to create categories on your desktop. These are icons that are like folders that can contain other icons to launch. This allows you to organize your desktop rather than having it be a huge mess. The app comes with a GUI configurator so that you do not have to edit text files. When you add an app to a category, it is removed from the springboard list so that it no longer shows up on the main desktop. When you remove the app from the category it is returned back to the springboard.
Changes:
fixed a bug on 1.0.2 firmware - the "Show Assigned Apps" toggle didn't work

Google told us that we wouldn't see any Android devices until the end of the year, but a funny thing happens when you put up the entire SDK and an emulator for a platform -- all them crazy hackers start hacking. Apparently Android was natively booted on a Freescale-based dev board called the Armadillo 500 back in November, but the floodgates were really opened when a Hungarian group called Eu.Edge discovered that basically any device with an ARMv5TE chip could run Google's baby. Armed (heh!) with that information, tinkerers around the world have gotten a variety of Sharp devices running Android: the SL-C760, C3000M, SL-C3000 series, and the SL-6000 have all been confirmed running the OS. Hopefully that means we'll be seeing a lot more unofficial Android devices soon

Rumors have been swirling that Apple will be offering movie rentals over iTunes for weeks now. Now it would appear that Warner Bros have joined Disney, Twentieth Century Fox, Lions Gate and Paramount in the initial launch. This, according to sources speaking anonymously to Bloomberg. The announcement is expected to be made on January 15th according to the report, presumably during Jobs' MacWorld keynote. Both new releases and older titles will rent for $3.99 for 24 hours. Bloomberg's sources also indicate that Fox may join as a supplier of movie downloads. While the details may change, an iTunes rental service announcement on Tuesday seems a near certainty given the recent multi-source, confluence of data.

Noda has released a Media Encoder for the Ipod, heres the release details:
A converter videos for the iPod Touch / iPhone (and other iPods ...)
Version 1.0
Presentation:
Well, first thing: why the umpteenth video converter for iPod?
All iPod owners who are trying to convert videos ca know, they were all tested converisseurs existing (Vidéora, VLC, Quicktime, Xvid4PSP, GOM encoder, etc. ..), despite their numbers, there are always recurring defects:
-- It is slow
-- Ca lot of videos not beautiful
-- Ca lot of videos too big
-- Ca bug with certain formats
-- It is boring to use
-- It's too complicated
-- You can not easily convert videos full of a sudden
-- Etc.
(Happily, it's never all these defects at a time when meme)
Et comme ca do some time now that I am the happy owner of an iPod Touch, bah I started to get tired of all these converters that the c ** t'installent 5000 codecs and that you never leave the result that you want.

-- Super easy to use (no room for improvement)
-- Easily handles batches of files to be converted, with the possibility of dragging (you can even add files while ca encode)
-- Can be forgotten in background (possibility of changing the priority)
-- 6 profiles suited to the majority of needs:
* 3-speed encoding (plus c'est slow and the better the quality), and each is chosen to optimize the file for a small size or better quality. I spent the aprem tweaker to these profiles, you tell me news
So now, I ca do in 2 days y'a therefore means that bugs can trainer in the corner, I count on you to test it and let me know your suggestions
I will see in the future to add support for subtitles (embedded in the videos), I wait for the moment your return on the quality and performance of different profiles.
History:

Here comes the first update ! I made a quick little changelog for this 1.1 version...
If you don't want to read it, I basically optimised CPU and Ram usage, and the exe is smaller
- Reduced file size
- Faster game loading
- Much lower CPU usage (and thus saves the battery too)
- Requires 25% less ram (around 3.5MB should be perfect)
- New useless difficulty menu transition
- Fixed a bug when clicking on a number overlapping another button
- Stylus should be more reactive now
- Wheel Number doesn't move partially off the screen anymore
- Saves undo/redo and input method on game save !
update : version 1.11 already, found a quick and minor speed optimisation to do, should be 10-15% faster

EvolutionRGB is a senseless and beautiful iPhone game of fire, plants and water.
It allows the player to draw on the touch screen using different elements, like fire, water and plants. These elements interact with each other, so that the screen evolves over time. The iPhone's builtin accelerometer is used for the gravity direction so that water always falls down and fire burns upwards. http://code.google.com/p/evolutionrgb/
