DressUp is some kind of fun application. It let you load a picture and modify it with putting different kind of textiles etc on it.
Changes:
Multi-wardrobe support. After stopping a frame, you can now go back to the wardrobe and add more costumes.
“Dismiss Mode”. You can now switch from move mode (where you move around the costume elements) to dismiss mode (a tap removes costumes). Use this to clean up your picture before snapping it.
Clean picture taking. I now hide the status bar and the navigation bars before snapping pictures.
Snap to Album. By request, you can now snap photos to your album rather than just sending them by email.

Erica Sadun has updated his/her(?) collection of utilities for the iPhone.
Following utilities are with this pack:
Individual Utilities
alert
Alert is pretty much your one-utility source for all command-line alerts. It lets you customize text, buttons, and images and offers special features like timed alerts (no human intervention necessary) and progress indicators. Run at the command line for the full documentation and feature set. An early version of alert is documented here
autosnap
Like snapngo, autosnap grabs the contents of the screen and serves it via bonjour. Unlike snapngo, autosnap automatically names and serves files and can be triggered from your Mac using FileCatcher. Tap on the "File Throw Auto Snap" server and your iPhone snaps a picture and shares it to your Mac. The file appears on your desktop.
catch and throw
Command-line bonjour file sharing. Throw a file to another iPhone or iPod touch, where you catch it. Each takes one argument. Throw requires the file to send. Catch uses the path to save to, e.g. throw foo.amr and catch newsound.amr.
doAlert
You supply a string and doAlert opens an alert window with that string.
doPrompt
doPrompt opens an alert window with a string you supply and prompts the user to enter a text reply. The utility prints the result to stdout. (For Greg Hartstein by request)
doQuery
You supply a string and doQuery opens an alert window with that string asking "Yes" or "No". After running, you can get the result in $? (For Benanzo by request)
doSafari
Takes one argument, the URL to open in Mobile Safari.
ip-print
Scrapes the current ip-address used by your iPhone or iPod touch.
playaudio
Play an audio or video file from the command line on either iPod touch or iPhone.
phoneCheck
When run, determines whether the host is or is not an iPhone. If so, the environmental variable $? gets set to 1. If not, to 0. This lets you run an if statement in your shell script immediately after.
phonetime
Phonetime converts iPhone times into understandable dates, and will return the current time and the epoch time on request.
plutil
Property List utility modeled on OS X's plutil.
restart
Restart issues a launchctl command that restarts SpringBoard. Use this utility whenever you add or remove Applications to update the display and SpringBoard to recognize new items.
sendFileByMail
For iPhone or iPod touch with mail configured. SendFileByMail takes, at this time, one argument, a file to send by mail. It opens the mail program, creates a new message with that attachment.
showPic
Sometimes you just want to peek at a picture without having to bring it back to your development platform. showPic lets you do exactly that, with some crude resizing ability (double-tap is not supported yet but pinching is). Just give it one argument, the name of the picture to display.
snap
Snap grabs the contents of the screen and saves it to a snapshot in png format. Snap takes one argument, the name of the file to snap to.
snap2album
Thoroughly updated with better fidelity, this utility snaps a picture of your screen and adds it to your Photos library on the iPhone and (possibly) the iPod touch--even though that doesn't have a camera. It's unclear whether the iPod touch will sync to its album.
snapngo
Snapngo grabs the contents of the screen and then serves it via bonjour, using the file name you specify, e.g. snapngo fileshot will send fileshot.png to whatever device is listening for it. This is meant to be used with FileCatcher, so you can snap on your iPod touch or iPhone and the file instantly appears on your Mac Desktop.
sound
Sound takes one argument (y or n) and enables or disables system sound.
timedAlert
Takes two arguments, a number (in seconds) and a string. This displays the string as an alert for that number of seconds and then auto dismisses. (by request for Benanzo)
toggle
Very basic command-line app hiding toggle. It adds or removes application identifiers from the Special category.
toJPEG
Convert a file to JPEG. Meant for use with PNG. Be aware however, that the iPhone will read a png file that you just rename to jpg. This is meant more for files that must be in JPEG when sent back to your personal computer.
xwidg
Xwidg supports transferring your non-standard Applications into /var/root/Applications. It links to them via the undocumented /Widgets folder. Xwidg creates or deletes the folder and restarts SpringBoard. This lets you easily hide all third party apps (good for Genius Bar visits) or link them back. Xwidg takes no arguments. It looks for /Widgets and remove the symbolic link if present or adds it when absent.

Splendid news on the Canadian front -- it seems as if that proposed tax on digital recorders and storage devices (you know, like Apple's iPod for instance) will actually not come to pass. According to Judge Karen Sharlow, the board "had no legal authority to certify a tariff on digital audio recorders or on the memory permanently embedded in digital audio recorders." The ruling enables all music lovin' Canucks to breath a sigh of relief, as it makes tacking on fees ranging from C$5 ($4.95) to C$75 ($74) in order to "compensate the recording industry for music that was copied" illegal . From here, a decision still needs to be made to clarify the legality (or illegality) of copying music from discs to DAPs, but at least we're seeing a touch of levelheadedness in the music biz, regardless.

A fancy mirror contraption not quite what you had in mind for video conferencing on your iPhone? Fret not, friends; Ecamm Network is back at it, this time devising a way to stream video from the camera -- at 30fps, no less -- to the Mac of your choice over WiFi. Even better, the clever cats hooked it up with Bonjour, so the Mac just sorta sees it as a camera without any configuration needed. The possibilities are pretty endless (or limited, depending on your point of view), but we suppose it's nice for iPhone owners to instantly have a free, remote cam for iChatting, if nothing else. The download isn't available yet, but Ecamm is teasing that they just might be willing to demo it at their Macworld booth this week.

Hi all today i got my hands on the JXD301 a games console/Media player thats buzzing in the homebrew scene at the moment. Heres my review of the JXD301.
Foreword
I am not an expert on anything even though i webmaster one of the biggest homebrew sites, i am infact a fan just like most others and more of a noobie than an expert, if i dont know i ask, so from me youll get a review in a way that as long as it works then im happy, i am no expert so you wont get a massively technical explanation youll get a straight yes or no.
What is the JXD301 ?
Heres the description:
The JXD 301 boasts a 3.0" LTPS TFT display making it a premier portable media player. It supports many audio files such as MP3, WMA, FLAC and video files such as RMVB, FLV and AVI files. Ordering and Delivery
I ordered my JXD301 from USA retailer GP2XStore.com (who sell a lot more than just GP2X). The order was dealt with within the hour and was shipped the same day which was very impressive, nothing worse than ordering and waiting weeks for the console. Shipping and the console were at a good price too, even more so with the weak dollar .
My parcel was delivered by EMS and i had no Customs Charges something which pleases me no end and even though it was the festive season it arrived within 4 days, yet another plus.
Opening the Packaging
The console comes in a box which tells you what it does etc but no mention of emulators most likely to avoid customs etc. The console itself is a similiar size to a GBA Micro although thinner. In the box was a soft case for the console, Headphones, USB Lead, USB Adapter, Driver Disc, Manual and Worldwide Compatible Power Lead (you just need a shaver plug in the UK).
The Review Itself
Turning on the JXD301 reveals what must be the best GUI on any handheld system ive ever played, its so user friendly and easy to use, plenty of options to change, bright and cheery. A major thumbs up so far.
Connecting the system to my laptop via USB cable was an horrid experiance it just wouldnt work at all, i then went to my PC and it connected straight away, godknows why this happened, but i wasnt happy with it.
I then tried some roms and movies on the console and to my surprise the movies played quite well infact i enjoyed watching heroes on the jxd301 so much that ive got 6 episodes on now
On the rom side of things GBA Emulation was a waste of time, sure it booted up but was as slow as hell.
Nes emulation was much better infact quite decent.
Snes emulation was amazing with sound on its crap but the speed was very very nice. I did find the controls a tad strange without L and R buttons.
GB/GBC emulation seemed to be crappy, whatever emulator they ported over didnt work well at all, low compatability and no sound.
Megadrive emulation was also nice enough but sound is rubbish luckily the games play reasoably well.
NeoGeo emulation is also a plus for the console, roms need to be with a .neo extension
The Ebook reader also seemed pretty decent and because i love my harry potter ebooks its great to read when i feel like it
Battery time for me lasted about 4 hours ive heard its supposed to be a lot more but thats what i got out of the system.
Conclusion
The JXD301 is a nice console/media player for the price, it has a nice built in battery and 2GB hard drive and the build quality and display on the screen are very good. The GUI is simply the nicest on any console in my opinion, For movies your going to have to try and see what works best for you in terms of encoded quality, the tv shows i tried ran decent although an adult film i tried was a fraction slow but in some ways that was a benefit
On the emulation side of things Snes and Nes with Neogeo trailing were passable but not awesome. GBA was a waste of space and GB/GBC and Megadrive need a lot of work.
But for the price and with some excellent coders already working on the console this could be the budget emulation console of the year. The lack of buttons even though its a fairly powerful machine mean for purists this wont do but for people who play now and again and for collectors of retro consoles then its well worth a try.
Ill give the console a score of 6.8 out of 10 - Lets pray that the homebrew scene can support this console
For those of you who have brought a JXD301, please share your reviews via comments

The GBA Emulator for Nokia Series 60v3 Phones has been updated:
Updates from vBagX 1.20 S60v3
1. fix some emulation bugs (some unaligned ldm/jump, thumb blh jump)
2. fix some compatibility problem. provide an option for user selection speed/compatibility. mode 3 is very slow and is not recommended.
3. Sound is more smooth when speed is enough. Make sure speed option is normal (not fast) to let sound smooth
4. media key support (on s60v3, app can only capture volume up/down now)
5. simple cheat file support. for ABC.gba, write a cheat file named ABC.gba.cht. Its content format is as follows:
2002A46=0A
3006FA2=006C
2004250=000063
that means it lockes [0x2002A46] to byte 0x0A, locks [0x3006FA2] to halfword 0x6C, locks [0x2004250] to word 0x63

EvolutionRGB is a senseless and beautiful iPhone game of fire, plants and water.
It allows the player to draw on the touch screen using different elements, like fire, water and plants. These elements interact with each other, so that the screen evolves over time. The iPhone's builtin accelerometer is used for the gravity direction so that water always falls down and fire burns upwards.
Changes:
moved evolution states directory to main directory of zip file (for Installer.app distribution)
Installer.app will now install 3 default evolution states: "Title", "Waterfall" and "YinYang" http://code.google.com/p/evolutionrgb/

News from Zoddtd:
When asking about my work on the SimCity port for the iPhone and iPod Touch, many users of gpSPhone simply wanted a bit of a performance boost. This brought me back to thinking about an issue I have seen with Springboard and all applications running on the iPhone and iPod Touch. It seems whenever setNeedsDisplay is called, Springboard lands up taking up to 5% to 20% CPU time! A quick example of this would be to run the Apple Calendar application and run ‘top’ through SSH. In Calendar rub your finger across the screen to highlight a bunch of days in the month. This causes a screen refresh, and also about 15% CPU utilization within the Springboard process shown by top! It seems across the board on any application
Now you may say, why even call setNeedsDisplay then? It’s pretty much required to update the screen and therefor see new things being displayed. So I have been working out ways to reduce the need to call setNeedsDisplay as often. I have been able to reduce Springboard’s CPU usage by half what it use to be by just calling it less often. I also have seen a good performance boost in my applications such as my Gameboy Advance emulator gpSPhone.
Beta Tester Club members of ZodTTD.com may now test this performance enhanced version of gpSPhone v1.3.0. ZodTTD.com forum members who donate are instantly upgraded to Beta Tester Club status.
This will be a short beta depending on the results and what other features may be absolutely required.
I hope to see Springboard no longer take so much CPU time for such an odd reason, in future firmwares.
Thanks for the support everyone.

News from Zodttd:
So I wake up to a slew of requests to port the SimCity source code released, to the iPhone and iPod Touch. This is, quite frankly, a dream come true. I’ve always been a huge fan of SimCity, and here’s my chance to do what would become my favorite port of all time.
This project will be somewhat tough since even though it was well written, the source is for X Window for Linux.
So should I begin work on yet another project, or should I focus all my attention on updates to gpSPhone, for instance?
What is sure to be my favorite project, may not be your favorite. Let me know here:
