This program functions similar to the typical guitar tuners you buy in stores, and anyone familiar with these shouldn't need to read these instructions. Basically, you play a single string on the guitar, and the program listens to the note and tells you if the note is sharp, flat, or just right.
Funiculus can only be run on an iPhone (and not an iPod Touch) because the iTouch lacks an internal microphone. http://sourceforge.net/projects/funiculus/

If you're ready to drop 45 bones on a tricksy SIM from a back-alley internet joint called One-Stop-China.com in the hopes of unlocking an iPhone, then behold the X-SIM II. While not hardly the first SIM-based unlocking effort, this "Turbo SIM" (or so they call it) won't work in Germany, UK, Australia, but it will supposedly free up an iPhone running v1.1.2, and bootloader 4.6. Caveat emptor (as if we really had to tell you).

The Treo 680 and 750 are getting a little long in the tooth, are they not? The 680 has a spiritual successor in the Centro -- the 750, though, not so much (come on, the 500v does not count). That might just be where this "Drucker" comes into play, a phone listed on Vodafone's 2008 roadmap that alleges Windows Mobile 6.1, a 320 x 320 (!) display, 2 megapixel camera, GPS, WiFi, and triband 3.6Mbps HSDPA when it comes down the pike this July. In fact, we can pretty much guarantee it'll be replacing the 750v, seeing how it says so right on the slide. Sadly we don't have any visuals on this one (something tells us this ominous gray box isn't the actual phone), but it looks like Voda's targeting a price of £270 (about $534) and we'd be pretty shocked if we didn't see an AT&T launch in roughly the same time frame.

Nothing like a good round of crappy mockups and likely-fuax leaked Jobs to get the old rumor juices flowing. Check out a few of these pre-Macworld photoshops circulating the internets, and the MacRumors um, rumor, which has the full leaked "scoop" on what Jobs is going to be announcing on the 15th (MacBook Nano 13-inch ultraportable with SSD, MacTouch dual-screen multi-touch folding / sliding SSD tablet, Mac mini redesigned with solid state, half the height and named the Mac Nano, Penryn Mac Pro with Blu-ray option, Penryn MacBook Pro with black aluminum option, iSight-enabled Cinema Displays, blah blah blah). Here's a hint: we have no reason to believe any of this anything but positively fake and pure speculation. Enjoy!

MNPlight aims at getting rid of the need for a computer with iTunes. It runs on your iPhone, and is able to modify the iPhone calendar, address book and iPod databases.
MNPlight can be of particular interest for Linux users who don't have iTunes, but it can also be used by other users when they want to update their iPhone data when they are away from their iTunes computer.
If you keep using iTunes, you may experiment problems with the Calendar and the Address Book since modifications done on your iPhone won't be seen by iTunes.
Changes:
Mails:
Save big mail attachments on iPhone
Options:
Bug concerning deletion of imported mime types fixed http://movenplay.gforge.inria.fr/

iDemocracy is the very first iPhone 1.1.1 jailbreak and third-party app installation solution for the Windows platform, written by Drakenza which is (at least partially) automated, and has a GUI interface. It is currently supported on Windows XP/Vista and requires only iTunes, an iPhone, and the Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0.
iDemocracy 2 brings all kinds of new features like free ringtones on firmwares 1.1.1 and 1.1.2, as well as File Browsing (using Manzana) and all kinds of other wonderful things.
iDemocracy NOW SUPPORTS FW 1.1.2. However, it cannot unlock OTB 1.1.2 iPhones running bootloader 4.06 (yet). There will be a release 2.1 shortly after the release on the 16th which will add this functionality as soon as possible.
Features:
User-friendly GUI interface and instructions that will guide you through every step.
No need for computer knowledge--it does all the command-line scripting for you.
Jailbreaks (gives access to the file system), installs AppTapp Installer.app for third-party apps.
Now supporting unlocking for any SIM card using the aptly named anySIM.app
You can have a jailbroken 1.1.1 iPhone in 3 minutes and 47 seconds.http://code.google.com/p/idemocracy/

Chris Howard has an interesting commentary at Apple Matters on recent trends in OS market share that says that while OS X has seen continual growth, from 4.21% in Jan 2006 to 7.31% in December 2007 at the same time, Linux's percentage has risen from only 0.29% to 0.63%. The reasons? 'Apple has Microsoft Office, Linux doesn't; Apple has Adobe Creative Suite, Linux doesn't; Apple has easily accessed and easy to use service and support, Linux doesn't; Apple is driven by someone who has some understanding of end-user needs, Linux is not,' says Howard. 'Early in the decade it seemed that if you wanted a Windows alternative, Linux was it. Nowadays, an Apple Mac is undoubtedly the alternative and, with its resurgence and its Intel base, a very viable one

Apple's been hit with antitrust lawsuits over the dominance of the iPod / iTunes system before, but there's a new case brewing down California way that argues not that Apple has illegally tied the iPod to iTunes, but that Apple has abused its dominant market position by not supporting WMA. That's right, we've come full circle -- Apple is now being accused of locking Microsoft out of the market. The case, brought by San Diego attorney Stacie Somers, claims that since Apple disables the WMA functionality of the PortalPlayer chip inside many iPods, it's shipping "crippleware," and that it's doing so deliberately to abuse its position as the market leader. Of course, unprotected WMA files import into iTunes on Windows just fine, so this is really a DRM compatibility issue -- and given Apple's official position on DRM and the fact that Microsoft's own Zunes don't exactly play nice with all the flavors of WMA DRM, this suit could be over sooner than expected.
