Enjoy this special moment that can only occur between one happy iPhone user and their consenting device. You'll get to witness the miracle of icon rearranging, the joy of Google Maps location finding, and the unending pleasure of homescreen Safari bookmarks. We didn't grab the multiple SMS recipient function on film, but we assure you it's exactly like it should have been to begin with.

So let's just boil down the newly-available firmware 1.1.3 to the nitty gritty, shall we? Here's what Apple's latest juicy morsel is going to do to your iPhone (or iPod touch, if that's how you roll and you have $19.99 to spare) once you can finally reliably get it from iTunes:
Maps: New hybrid view, same as Google Maps. Satellite imagery and street mapping available on a single view.
Maps: Location triangulation. Uses nearby WiFi access points and GSM towers (on the iPhone, anyway) to roughly guesstimate your current location.
Web Clips: Web bookmarks can now be saved as home screen icons, including zoom and location information.
Home screen: Icons on the home screen can now be rearranged.
Home screen: Up to 9 home screens can now be created and "flicked" between.
SMS: A single text message can now be sent to multiple recipients; groups can be recalled for future use.
iTunes: Movie rentals are now supported.
iTunes: Support for lyrics.
Additionally, the iPod touch now features Mail, Maps, Stocks, Weather, and Notes, all of which were previously exclusive to the iPhone. Cheers!

Jonz has released a new version of his Nes Emulator for the iPhone:
NES.app lets you play Nintendo games on your iPhone. It is a fully functional, feature-rich Nintendo emulator.
NES.app uses an emulator core we call NESCore, which we've forked from pNESx and InfoNES and re-engineered as a highly-portable and high-performance Nintendo emulator core.
In order to use NES.app, you will need ROM images of Nintendo games. ROM images are files containing the dumped instruction code from a physical cartridge. In many cases, you are legally entitled to posess a ROM imageof any game that you presently own. ROM images for NES are widely available online, or with the appropriate hardware, you can dump them yourself directly from the cartridge.
Features
Multitouch: Use the directional pad + A + B, or other combinations
Landscape Mode: Turn the iPhone counter-clockwise to play in landscape mode
Zapper Tap: Tap objects on the screen to shoot them
Full Screen: Enlarge your NES picture to the max possible
Save State: Save an instant snapshot of your game and come back to it later
Game Genie: Use Game Genie cheat codes
... and many more
NES.app is not iPhoneNES!
NES.app started as a fork of iPhoneNES v0.01, but has been completely rewritten to run very fast, and with many additional features including sound, multitouch support, full-screen, landscape mode, game genie codes, saved games and much more. It now contains zero code from the original iPhoneNES project.
2.0.3 [jonz] Cleaned up controller images

News/release from Sweetlimre:
Hi,
GizMenu is a launcher for the Gizmondo, it allows you to place links to all of your games / apps in a nice looking, skinable menu system.
Latest Release: 2
Previous versions of GizMenu were an attempt at a shell replacement, this new version is an "Autorun Launcher".
This is how the change came about :
After looking at the new gmenu2x and porting it to the Giz, I was struck with an idea.
Instead of making GizMenu a full shell, why not have it as an Autorun launcher, then you get the best of both worlds: All standard capabilities and shell, plus a really kick-ass launcher.
So.. what I did was make a small Autorun program that does the following:
1. Checks an ini file for a menu to launch.
2. Creates eCursor (hidden) through eCursorLib
3. Creates the menu process
4. Waits for the menu process to exit
5. Checks some shared memory to see what the menu wanted to launch
6. Launches the process, conditionally enabling eCursor
7. Wait for the process to exit.
8. Relaunches the menu.
Special a "Bang" command "!EXIT" can be sent to the Autorun, which will cause it to exit and return to the standard GUI.
So without too much further ado, I present:
GizMenu 0.9, based on gmenu2x 0.9
and
Autorun for GizMenu.
Unrar the archive to the ROOT of your SD card (backing up any other autorun you may have as it will overwrite it).
Launch the Autorun in the standard manner.
Keys in GizMenu:
PLAY: Launch selected link / Confirm action.
FORWARD: Cancel action.
FORWARD: Clear Link text item
FORWARD: Goes up one directory in file browser.
L, R: Switch between sections - PageUp/PageDown on lists.
STOP: Bring up the manual/readme.
REWIND+L: Decrease volume for the selected link
REWIND+R: Increase volume for the selected link
BRIGHT: Bring up the contextual menu.
HOME: GMenu2X options.
REWIND: Help
The rest is pretty self explanitory.
Look in the Sections\System folder under GizMenu for "Exit" which is an example of the !EXIT bang command and in the Sections\Applicatios folder for "tre" which launches Tascal Registry Editor with eCursor enabled.
As eCursor is running under the Autorun process, you can enable it using the hot key (modify eCursor.ini in the root to change the hot key as per usual).
Suggestions, bug report etc. welcome.
I've been using this now for a while and its really useful.

Today Apple announced that it's sold 4 million iPhones in the 200 days since launch, at a rate of roughly 20,000 a day. The phone apparently attained a 19% share in the smartphone market in the first quarter of its existence, and Steve Jobs says the phone bested Palm, Motorola and Nokia put together in the space in the first 90 days. It sounds like a pretty impressive pace, especially given the fact that only 1 million had sold by September of last year, but Apple still has a ways to go to compete with the likes of RIM.

It's not all love for the iPhone today -- Apple just announced that Mail, Maps, Stocks, Notes and Weather are all coming to the iPod touch. New touch owners get 'em all for free, but all of you early adopters will have to cough up: the bundle is going to set you back a whopping $20. The new Maps app can't use cell-based location-finding like on the iPhone, but it can still figure out where it is using SkyHook's WiFi hotspot database. The touch also supports webclips and the reconfigurable home screen now, but we're a little unsure why all this has to cost $20 -- why no love, Apple?

The iPhone got its expected firmware upgrade, delivering version 1.1.3 that we've seen and debated about before. It delivers new features like the ability to send SMS messages to multiple recipients at once, faux-GPS on Google Maps via triangulation, Google Maps showing the hybrid map view, drag and drop icons on the home screen and bookmarks on the home screen (i.e. Webclips). There are also some new features, such as videos with chapters, the ability to display lyrics on music.

Bad news from Erica Sadun. The application "Listen.app" is cancelled, due to various problems. Listen.app gave you the possibility to send a piece of music to a database, which tried to identify it and give you appropriate information on it.
Here are what Erica Sadun said:
After talking to Gracenote, I have discovered several things. First, that their Track ID service is not available for noncommercial licensing. Second, that the costs for commercial licensing is beyond the amount to which I can possibly be committed to.
If you don’t mind spending $1 a shot, you can use your iPhone for music ID. Dial #43 (that is #ID). You won’t be charged for songs that the service fails to identify.

Francis released an update ot his application Waves.
Waves is a small toy for your apple iPhone or iPod touch. You can select a predefined image or your own wallpaper and you can touch the screen to generate some wave effect over the image. A floating button can also be added in order to generate the effect in the different screens of the device (i.e. the picture app).
Release notes:
Hi, There is a sporadic problem with the 1.1 version of Waves causing sometimes some troubles during the device reboot when the floating button is enabled.
That's why a 1.1-1 version has been put on the installer in order to remove it from your device before I can make a fix.
The download is currently removed from this page too.
Sorry for the troubles.
Francis.

MNPlight aims at getting rid of the need for a computer with iTunes. It runs on your iPhone, and is able to modify the iPhone calendar, address book and iPod databases.
MNPlight can be of particular interest for Linux users who don't have iTunes, but it can also be used by other users when they want to update their iPhone data when they are away from their iTunes computer.
If you keep using iTunes, you may experiment problems with the Calendar and the Address Book since modifications done on your iPhone won't be seen by iTunes.
Changes:
