-Secure is reporting that a new worm, Beselo, is in the wild. The worm, similar to the Commwarrior worm, targets only S60 2nd Edition handsets such as the Nokia 6600. The worm is notable for its use of social engineering; when spreading it appears as a JPEG or MP3 file which is more likely to be opened by a user. However simple common sense can readily protect you against infection.
Although the file appears to be a JPEG or MP3 file when you try to open the file it will start an instance of the application installer. At this point the sensible user would cancel the install process.
Phones can not be infected unless the install process is completed. This requires you to go through several dialogs confirming that you want to install and unknown application.
We would advise you that you never install an application of unknown origin, especially one you receive unexpectedly via Bluetooth or MMS.
All recent S60 handsets (S60 3rd Edition) are unaffected, the virus is not compatible with he new version of the software platform. Changes in the platform's security model mean worms of this type are no longer possible. There are no known virus of worms targetting S60 3rd Edition phones.

There it is, just as we thought. The 8GB iPod nano now in pink anodized aluminum. A fitting new member to bear the third-generation nano's pastel palette. The perfect color to celebrate Valentines Day or uh, cancer. Two hours of downtime for this? Check the business-side, front, after the break while waiting for the official announcement.
Update: It's official. Still $199 with free engraving and 24 hours shipping. Yes, starting from right now.

Just as expected, the former Gizmondo Europe director is free at last -- well, almost. Barely a year after Stefan Eriksson was sentenced to "three years" in the slammer, he's now been let loose from behind bars and is currently "awaiting expulsion." Purportedly, everything was nearly in place to ship him back to Europe prior to Christmas, but apparently, the Swedish consulate has taken its sweet time in preparing a new passport. What's still unclear, however, is whether the Ferrari Swede will be flown back to Sweden or Germany, but if all goes to plan, we'll be liveblogging the whole ordeal as soon as that news breaks (we jest, we jest).

Without a 3G iPhone announcement at MacWorld, Apple remains focused on increasing the penetration of their generation-one handset. True to the rumors circulating the intertubes last week, AT&T is now offering the iPhone to business customers. Plans break down as follows:
2 year commitment, voice service, and data plan required
$45 per month for unlimited data, visual voicemail, and 200 SMSes; $55 ups the SMS limit to 1,500; $65 for unlimited everything
An extra $25 per month nabs a 20MB montly data plan good for 29 countries, $60 per month ups the limit to 50MB
Activate by 31 March and qualified accounts will receive a service credit of $25 per month good through 31 December, 2008 -- yeah, that's a sweet deal
We have a funny feeling that the timing of this has something to do with IBM's imminent announcement of Lotus Notes mail for the iPhone. Now get on the horn to IT, they'll be dreading your call.

So the rising discontent with Apple's new habit of selective feature enabling got us thinking -- while we're not experts on the subject, the generally accepted reasoning for the $20 iPod touch upgrade fee is the accounting requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act: iPhone and Apple TV updates are free since revenue from those products is realized as a subscription over a period of time, but iPod touch updates can't be free since Apple just records that revenue directly. That certainly makes sense to us when applied to things like the 802.11n Enabler, which was trivially cheap and turned on unadvertised hardware features, but it strikes us as being a pretty big stretch when applied to a $20 package of new software applications. iPod name or no, the iPod touch is essentially a little computer, and the whole purpose of software is to enable "significant unadvertised new features" on a computer. For Apple (or anyone) to say that a mail app is a "significant new feature" for a computer is pushing the line just a bit far, and it makes us wonder how the company accounts for new versions of iTunes, QuickTime, and Safari, each of which add new features to already-sold Macs -- and how things are going to play out when the iPhone / iPod touch SDK is released next month. We've got a call into Apple to get to the bottom of it all, we'll let you know what (if anything) we find out.

Just when you think you've reached the apex of your iPhone's capability, there comes another accessory-maker, modder, or developer to prove you wrong. One new feature comes in the form of a piece of software for Jailbroken iPhones (or touches) called PocketGuitar. The premise of this software is simple -- it allows you to "play" the phone like an actual instrument, as well as strum along to your stored music -- thus fulfilling a number of twisted, rock-nerd fantasies. When you're done perfecting a version of "Frankenstein," you can use your phone to stalk your estranged lover... provided you're using Conice's 6 x 18 zoom attachment for the phone, a hideous plastic beast that snaps onto your normally trim device. Hey, no one ever said stalking was going to be easy.

Well, that was quick. It appears firmware 1.1.3 has already been Jailbroken. The solution is not available to the mainstream yet, as both teams are holding back until the iPhone SDK launches in April. Nevertheless, there is video proof; jump to catch some shaky evidence of installer.app playing nice with 1.1.3.

The Financial Times reports that UK sales of the Apple iPhone weren't quite up to par, selling 190,000 phones against a target of 200,000 in the first two months. Some analysts even projected sales in the range of 350,000-400,000. Many cite the high price of the phone, saying the average phone is free and the average plan is under £30. In the UK the iPhone goes for £269 and the plan is £899 over 18 months. In U.S. Dollars thats $529 for the phone and $98/month for the plan. Ouch

Alex has released his excellent Puzzle Game Collection on the Pocket PC:
Finally, a version 0.1 alpha is now available.
This is really an alpha version.
That means that a lot of things are not working.
For instance, Sudoku is not working at all!
Because I didn't implement keyboard's input...
You can play all other games, but after a game you've to close the game and to restart it...
Game lost (like in Mines) is not detected yet.
I released this alpha version to get a maximum of feedbacks.
So, you know what you've to do now...
The .exe is attached to this post or here is the direct download link: http://www.puzzlemaniak.com/blog/ppc/pzmk.rar.
;-)
Thanks a lot Mollusk for your support !!!
