Gelahten released a prototype / beta of his new game "Speed Chaineeze".
Release notes:
Thats first beta release of my game.
The main idea: you need to connect shapes by following simple rules:
Two figures can be connected if they have same color or shape, i.e you can build following chain:
[red square]->[yellow square]->[yellow triangle]->[blue triangle].
You can connect only to underlying or placed on the same line figure, up connects are not allowed.
If you open the chain and do not connect at least 2 figures in it, u'll have the antiscore bonus.
Bonus will executed only if figure which contains it would be linked at least as second in chain.
If you just start chain from bonus figure, bonus will fired up and in future versions this will give you antiscore.
Bonuses:
+ Time bonus - Movement (not time) is stoped for a bit
+ Score bonuses (disabled)
+ Paint bonus - Colors underlying figures like rainbow
+ Path bonus - (looks like 3 diff arrows picture :-) ) - on each figure selection would mark next available for connection figures (bonus works for 10 second)
Free/beta version for now has following limitations/bugs:
+ (BUG ) Time bar do not actually shows remained time (45 seconds anyway for level)
+ (DEMO) You can enter player name and this name is saved through sessions, but highscore table is updated using "DEMO" name
+ (TODO) No rules screen still
+ (DEMO) All bonuses are shown and works except SCORE bonuses (+300, -100 e.t.c., they are shown and animated but there is no score changes)
+ (TODO/DEMO) No in game scroll speed change and there is no different difficulty levels
+ (TODO) There are plenty of bonuses shown for now, thats done for testing purposes and bonus quantity will be reduced
I'm going to implement all missed stuff and probably add/repaint some gfx, hope it would be done soon, 'coz running Photoshop CS 3 on my 1,6 celeron laptop with 256 ram is real war for virtual memory.
I'll be glad to hear all proposals and critique. Sorry for my English
Executable must be unzipped and copied to PPC where it could be runned.

Following the shock news that the much derided Gizmondo handheld has been bought back from the liquidator for a second attempt at the market, UK trade publication MCV has caught up with new owners, UK tech company Plextek.
Showing something of the lack of industry experience which got the original company in trouble in the first place, asked about competing with DS and PSP its technical director Ian Murphy is quoted as saying:
"It's fair to say that much of DS's content is not exactly spectacular but it's still a very successful machine because it has a point of difference. There's no reason we can't compete. An open platform will offer something that other handhelds can't."
The mention of an open platform is in reference to the company's plan to relaunch Gizmondo - the device itself will remain "almost identical" - as a homebrew system, for which anyone can create, share and sell games within an online live marketplace.
Ironically, the decision to maintain the basic guts of the Gizmondo isn't in-and-of-itself a bad move, though. Despite the collapse of the business, the device was well designed, featuring an Nvidia 3D chip, as well as inbuilt GPS technology. Indeed, Pocket Gamer's own Gizmondo still gets irregular use as a handheld navigation system, even if the quality of the available games (perhaps with the exception of Sticky Balls) was very poor.
The key question, however, is whether this new attempt can enthuse enough homebrew and indie developers into supporting the system, especially when there are plenty of other opportunities such as WiiWare and Xbox Live Arcade, not to mention mobile games.
Still, maybe at this early stage, we should be charitable. After all, the GP2X series of Linux-based handheld consoles seems to have found itself a niche - although not one that has Sony or Nintendo shaking in their boots.

This is a repackaging, for the iPhone Installer.app program, of this ( http://pxl.ibrickr.com/OpenSSH-4.6p1.pxl ) binary package for a different iPhone application installer program. St also tweaked it a tiny bit.
Release notes:
I replaced the com.openssh.sshd.plist file with the one from my Mac. I also added the sshd-keygen-wrapper file from my Mac. What this means is that ssh will properly start up and shutdown now and ssh can easily be enabled/disabled. The reboot of your iPhone during the upgrade to this version should be the last time it’s needed and that requirement will go away with the next version. For folks doing a new install of this package: the host keys are no longer generated during package installation. They will be generated when you first try to ssh into your iPhone. That means that first login will take longer than usual (approximately 30-35 seconds), but after that, login times will be quick.

Converter is a units converter for iPhone coded by Vladimir Kofman.
Changes:
- Now storing "recently used" units. So it's much easier to work with long lists (like currencies). Currently the value is hardcoded (but will be configurable in the future versions).
- Localization support. Now the application can be easily translated (I've started with Russian and Hebrew).
- Numerous ui enhancements and bug fixes.
- For those upgrading to 1.1.3 - the application seems to work just fine.

Ste, a maintainer of one of the biggest iPhone repro's posted this on his page:
Alert - Please Read - Very Important - Pass This On
The release of the 1.1.3 firmware has caused a ton of headaches for developers and package maintainers. Many packages store media and preferences under /var/root/Media and /var/root/Library. With the release of 1.1.3, most packages will now need to store that stuff under /var/mobile/Media and /var/mobile/Library.
For developers, they have to write their apps to be firmware version aware, so that they can read/write from the correct location, depending on what firmware they are running on. For packagers, we have to install/uninstall that stuff from the right place, depending on the firmware. It’s a nightmare.
Nullriver has released the full 3.0 version - no beta any more - of Installer.app. This release allows packagers to install the stuff mentioned above into ~/Media and ~/Library and Installer.app will put it in the right place, based on the firmware of the device.
This version of Installer.app also provides packagers with the ability to check how much free space is available, before installing, so that we don’t fill up the root partition any more. It also adds features that will help in migrating applications out of /Applications to other locations. There is more - this release is really chock full of stuff to make life easier for all of us.
It is imperative that you upgrade to Installer.app 3.0 as soon as possible. By that, I mean NOW. Right now, today. I am going to start releasing package updates today that will rely on the new features. They will not install correctly on older releases of Installer.app. If you run into any trouble and find you need to manually download and install Installer.app, get it from here ( http://repository.apptapp.com/packag.../Installer.zip ), which always points to the latest version. Other repositories will start using these new features shortly, too, so it really is in your best interest to upgrade right this minute. If you do not, and you have an issue installing any of my packages, my response will be “please upgrade, try again, and only come back if you still have a problem”.
To prevent this kind of chicken-and-egg issue in the future, one new feature in this release is the ability for the package maintainer to specify a minimum Installer.app version required for the package to install. Unfortunately, this time, we can’t really use it, because the older Installer.apps don’t understand that feature.
For a full listing of changes in this release of Installer.app, please see the “Featured” page in your current Installer.app.

Erica is abadoning the work of following of her programs:
I am abandoning work on the following software:
Widgets. It was always a proof of concept and never meant to be anything more. If anyone else wants to pick up work on it, feel free
iPhone Utilities. The iPod touch now has Mail, Maps, Notes, etc. There’s no good reason to maintain a second package. I’ve merged this with Erica Utilities.
Listen. RIP. I loved this program.
PDF Viewer. There is a far better version out there now.
XLaunch. Wiggly jiggly icons make XLaunch unnecessary.
Diagnostics. Again, a proof of concept.
Open URL. WebClips make this an unnecessary utility.
Push2Talk. There is a perfectly good SIP client available now.
