Family-based studio Disparity Games’ first game has reached number one on the Australian iPad charts. “Run Fatty Run” spent a week in Australia’s top ten, reaching the number one spot on iPad paid apps and the number three for paid games on iPhone.
The whole family had an active part in development and are thrilled with the game’s success. Veteran game developers Jason and Nicole Stark worked on the game full time while their eldest daughter, Alia, was responsible for the game concept, their second daughter, Raven created the comic art and their two youngest girls helped out on game testing.
The family are big fans of their game-making lifestyle. “It can be a bit weird knowing that my artwork is being seen by thousands of people” says Raven, “But It’s awesome to know so many people are enjoying it”. Alia agrees, “I’m full-time studying Psychology but I love being able to design games in my spare time that people play and enjoy. I’m just hoping my future employers don’t mind hiring a psychologist who made a game about overweight people being eaten by tigers!”
The Starks are keen to start on their next games project, “Ninja Pizza Girl”. Set in an over-urbanised near-future where the only form of reliable pizza delivery is underpaid teenage ninjas, “Ninja Pizza Girl” is an action platform game loosely based on Alia’s real-life experiences as a Pizza delivery girl.
About Run Fatty Run
Run Fatty Run is frantic arcade action on iOS and Android that pits one overweight man against government Health Care gone mad. Players guide the main character, Bert through an urban landscape of hills, obstacles, tough old ladies and their most relentless enemy – food. Bert must run, smash and roll his way home as he defies the government’s best intentions.
Run Fatty Run features 36 courses of scaling difficulty, a main character of varying body size, multiple game endings and unlockable comics revealing the origins of the obesity solution.

YoYo Games today announces that B.A.S.E. Jumper, the latest game to be made in-house using the company’s GameMaker: Studio technology, launched simultaneously on the App Store and iTunes, Amazon AppStore, Chrome, Facebook, YoYo Games Website (HTML5), Google Play, Mac App Store, NOOK and Samsung’s Tizen App Store.
B.A.S.E. Jumper sets players the task of completing incredibly dangerous B.A.S.E. jumps from buildings, antennas, spans (as in bridges) and earth (as in cliff tops). Players must guide the titular B.A.S.E. Jumper to terra firma and into the safety of his friends as the local sheriff patrols, hell-bent on catching the player in the act. Obstacles such as cranes, boulders, trees, bungee jumpers and zip liners all conspire to get in the way of each descent, with each discipline coming with its own unique set of obstacles according to theme. A jump from a building will see cranes and police nets in the way, while a jump from a power line antenna is strewn with high-voltage hazards. With four worlds to dive through and more than 60 achievements to unlock, B.A.S.E. Jumper is the ultimate parachute dive for all platforms and devices.
“B.A.S.E. Jumper is the first title we’ve launched across so many platforms simultaneously,” said Stuart Poole, head of publishing at YoYo Games. “This achievement highlights the incredible flexibility and power of GameMaker: Studio’s one-button export functionality and represents an immense saving in time and resources for developers compared to ‘hard way’ porting by coding a version for each platform.”
B.A.S.E Jumper pricing varies by platform:
App Store and iTunes – $0.99
Amazon App Store – $0.99
Chrome – Free
Facebook – Free
Google Play – $0.99
Mac App Store – $4.99
Nook – $0.99
Samsung’s App Store – $0.99

grey may LLC is launching Speed Kittens worldwide on October 4th. iPhone®(3GS or newer) and iPod touch®(3rd generation or newer) owners will be able to get Speed Kittens for $0.99 on the App Store(SM).
Prescott, Arizona - Speed Kittens is an action game that focuses on your reflexes, quick thinking, and aiming. You are in control of a squad of kittens ranging from adorable to hot-shot, and if you have ever seen a kitten on a jet pack you've probably noticed how clueless they can be when it comes to ace fighter pilot aviation. Luckily, they have you!
Zeppelins that are carrying milk will try their hardest to get to the other side of the screen, and your job is to crash kittens into them and spoil their plans! (Just don't spoil the milk...the kittens won't like
that...)
A typical scene in Speed Kittens will have kittens flying around aimlessly or free-falling, with zeppelins speeding by. Uh-oh! A zeppelin is getting close to escaping! Quickly you tap and hold onto a kitten.
Next, while still holding, you use your cat-like reflexes to dodge two other careless kittens about to crash into your feline ace. You have the shot now, you make a long swipe towards the zeppelin and release, launching the kitten. Nice shot! Thanks to your sniper aim another bottle of milk is saved.
Speed Kittens features:
- Detailed animations bring the game to life.
- Beautiful moving backgrounds.
- Random gameplay elements; every time you play, something will be different!
- Fast-paced gameplay. Get ready for a rush.
- Lovable characters.
- Unlockable Kittens! Anything from a Ninja Big Cat to an R Lion with aviator sunglasses.
- Practice Mode, Realistic Physics, Power Ups, Game Center, Achievements, and much more!
When the programmer, Marcus Schwab, was asked about the development process of Speed Kittens he simply said “Meow!” Now that is the sign of a guy that is dedicated to his game(and possibly a little crazy.)

News outlets are reporting that AMD has partnered with BlueStacks to bring Android apps to AppZone Player, something that will apparently allow the more than 500,000 mobile apps to run on your PC. From their announcement: 'What's special about the player on AMD-based products? There are many challenges with running apps that were originally designed for phones or tablets on a PC that in most cases has a larger screen and higher resolution display. To solve this, BlueStacks has designed and optimized the player for AMD Radeon graphics and in particular, our OpenGL drivers found in our APUs and GPUs so you get a great 'big-screen' experience. Additionally, the apps are integrated into AppZone, our online showcase and one-stop-shop for apps accelerated by AMD technology.' Unfortunately this appears to only work on AMD-based PCs (although nowhere does it say that it won't work on Intel CPUs or non-Radeon GPUs). Also no word on how they overcame the difference between a mouse and touchscreen (think pinch to zoom)."

Android app store celebrates by slashing selected content to just 25 cents.
Google Play hit 15bn app downloads back in May, and just four months later the platform has notched up another ten billion to cross the 25bn milestone.
Of course, it's still some way behind the App Store which reached25bn and 30bn downloads in March and June, respectively.
That said, Google Play is miles ahead of the 3bn downloads BlackBerry App World reached in July.
The app store formerly known as Android Market also plays home to 675,000 apps, and is celebrating its latest milestones with discounts for the next five days.
Users will be able to secure content from Gameloft, EA, Rovio and more for just 25 cents, choosing from games, magazines, films and so on.
Jamie Rosenberg, director of digital content, Google, said: "Twenty-five billion is more than twice the distance, in miles, that the Voyager 1 spacecraft has travelled since its launch 35 years ago.
"It’s the amount of time, in minutes, that have passed since some of our earliest ancestors began to set foot in Europe. And now, thanks to all of you, it’s a Google Play milestone. We look forward to the next 25 billion."

And almost half use their phones to compare prices.
New data from digital researcher Econsultancy finds that 25 per cent of shoppers have used their phone to buy a product or service in the past year, rising from 13 per cent in 2011.
43 per cent are also using the devices for prices comparisons and reviews to make sure they're getting the best bargain available, up from 19 per cent in 2011.
Reserve and collect options are also popular for 80 per cent of people, who do so via the web and mobile apps.
Interestingly, two-thirds of respondents said they prefer to use a mobile site ahead of an app, despite the latter platform supposedly providing users with a richer experience, while around a third use smartphones to locate stores.
Ashley Friedlein, CEO of Econsultancy, said: "Consumer shopping habits andpreferences are rapidly evolving. Retailers must quickly adapt to support therise of the multichannel shopper."

Apple device really is holier-than-thou.
It shouldn't be common for a new phone to come with glitches, but it is.
The Lumia 800 had battery problems, and the Galaxy Nexus had sporadic earpiece volume variations.
Of course, Apple is renowned for faults, demonstrated with the signal failure on the iPhone 4 and Siri unlocking 4Ss to unauthorised users.
Now, CultOfMac reports an error on the iPhone 5 camera, despite a revamped 8MP design that comes 25 per cent smaller than its predecessor.
Users have taken to forums to complain of a 'purple halo' effect, which causes an unavoidable lilac flare to splash across the photo when a bright light is in the frame.
The common belief is that the halo is caused by light refracting off of the camera's Sapphire lens cover – a new feature that wasn't used on previous devices.

flaregames GmbH, a leading developer and publisher of mobile games, today released Royal Revolt!, the company’s 3D reverse tower defense game. The title is being developed by Keen Flare, the joint venture between flaregames and Frankfurt-based studio keen games. The game is now available in the Apple AppStore for free for iPhone, iPod and iPad.
The colorful and humorous Royal Revolt! is about a young prince, who after the death of his father, the king, had his kingdom stolen. With simple and intuitive touch controls, the player directs the Prince through the beautifully designed levels and helps him conquer 30 castles to get the country back.
Royal Revolt! is a "reverse tower defense" game, where the player is on the offense, taking castles instead of defending them.
"Royal Revolt! is our most ambitious game to date, and we‘re striving to achieve a seven-digit number in terms of downloads," said Klaas Kersting, CEO of flaregames.
Pete Walentin, Managing Director of Keen Flare, added, "This game is the first project to be completed from the collaboration of keen games and flaregames. It has everything that both companies are focused on: high production quality, accessibility and challenging gameplay, all while adhering to fair free-to-play principles. To say we're very proud of this title is an understatement. "

Game developer 10tons Ltd. announched today the release of the skill based physics puzzle game King Oddball Ends The World for iOS devices. The game is available immediately in iTunes App Store with an introductory sale price of 1,99 USD. The regular price after the sale is 2,99 USD.
”King Oddball Ends The World is definitely something else. The eccentric audiovisuals don't tell the whole story. It's odd how deep and strategic gameplay you can achieve with a game mechanic that is this easy to get into.”, says Tero Alatalo, CEO of 10tons Ltd. ”It's curiously hard to put down.”
In King Oddball Ends The World, the player controls a floating rock head of unknown origin. The King swings a large boulder back and forth by his tongue, and the player releases the boulder by tapping the screen. To achieve this, the player has to figure out how the boulder will bounce and roll as impacts and explosions affect it.
