Hello, All!
I have just published iNES-Android 3.7.2, the new version of my NES/Famicom emulator, to the Google Play Market:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...d=com.fms.ines
This version comes with the much extended Freeze/Restore feature, fixed Cheat Editor, and some relief for tablet owners, who can now toggle the action bar with a vertical fling gesture. Flinging up hides the action bar, flinging down makes it reappear.
Here is the full list of changes:
* The action bar can now be toggled with a vertical fling gesture.
* Added screenshots, autosaved state, and two more slots to the Freeze/Restore.
* Added Italian translation.
* Made Cheat Editor remove whitespace from input and save cheats reliably.
* Optimized screen updates sync, for better framerates.
* Fixed cut-off landscape display on Nexus7 and other tablets.
* File selector now memorizes the last seleted position.
* Now pausing gameplay immediately when opening Android menu.
Have fun!

This week´s VGBA-Android 3.9.9 release further automates Cheatopedia by making it automatically detect what game you are playing and memorize the last page you have been on. It also makes things a bit more comfortable for tablet owners, who now can toggle the action bar with a vertical fling gesture. I am still puzzled at the reasons Google had for replacing the MENU button (physical or virtual) with the screen-eating action bar, but at least you can flick it away now in VGBA.
Get VGBA-Android here: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.fms.vgba
Full list of changes:
* The action bar can now be toggled with a vertical fling gesture.
* Cheatopedia now remembers the last open entry and reopens it.
* Cheatopedia automatically opens entry for the current game.
* Minor fixes to Pokemon Emerald cheats.
* Minor fixes to Italian translation.
VGBA-Android 3.9.8 changes:
* Added screenshots, two more slots, and the autosaved state to the Freeze/Restore feature.
* Improved GameShark / ActionReplay emulation, more cheats work now.
* Fixed Mario&Luigi hangup when entering the main city.
* Fixed Fire Emblem Cheatopedia entry, all Fire Emblem cheats now work.
* Fixed Porygon2 cheat and added "Buy Master Ball" cheat to the Pokemon Emerald Cheatopedia entry.
* Made Cheat Editor remove spaces from input and save cheats reliably.
* Added Italian translation.

Marat Fayzullin has updated his (commercial) GameBoy emulator VGB-Android.
Quote:
Hello, All!
I have released VGB-Android 3.6.1, the new version of GameBoy Classic,
GameBoy Color, and Super GameBoy emulator for Android devices:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...id=com.fms.vgb
As a temporary promotion, I am lowering the VGB-Android price to $2.49

less than what it costs me to support users, so I will not be able to
keep this price forever. So, get VGB while it´s cheap
Here is the list of new features and fixes in this version:
* The action bar can now be toggled with a vertical fling gesture.
* Added screenshots, autosaved state, and two more slots to the Freeze/Restore.
* Cheatopedia now remembers the last open entry and recognizes the current game.
* Made Cheat Editor save cheats reliably.
* Optimized screen updates sync, for better framerates.
* Now pausing gameplay immediately when opening Android menu.
* Cleaned up handling of Android physical keys.
* Fixed cut-off landscape display on Nexus7 and other tablets.
* Fixed HBlank DMA transfer (Pokemon Crystal).

Following the successful release of Fouring Cursed Diamonds for iPhone, iPod touch und iPad by the international multiplatform publisher Immanitas Entertainment, the exciting puzzle game is now available free for all Android devices on the Google Play Store.
In order to recover the legendary treasure of Isla Bonita, players must break the treasure’s curse by removing jewels in a very specific order. The task is to find four stones of the same color arranged in a square. The larger the square and the more jewels it contains – regardless of color – the more points the player receives. If special stones are removed from the board, valuable time or a higher multiplier can be gained, to name just two examples. In addition, coins can be won, which can be used to purchase helpful special abilities, such as bombs or additional time, the limiting factor in this game, in the in-game shop.
At the beginning, players receive up to 15 lives, depending on the type of registration (via e-mail or Facebook). Whenever the time expires in a level, the player will lose a life. The higher the level, the more difficult it will be to steal the jewels and escape to the next level before time runs out.
Features:
- Over 100 levels full of puzzle fun
- Valuable special abilities, such as bombs and fireworks
- Online highscores on Facebook
- Item store with lots of extras
Fouring Cursed Diamonds is now available for free on the Google Play Store for all Android devices in the following languages: German, English, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian and Thai.

Sports Car Challenge by Fishlabs Entertainment and Volkswagen (China) has been named the best „Corporate Game“ at the award ceremony of the Digital Communication Awards 2012, which took place in Berlin on Friday, September 14th, 2012. In doing so, the title came out on top of more than 500 competitors from all over the world.
The free 3D racing game had originally been developed by Fishlabs Entertainment in late 2011, when Volkswagen (China) tasked the Hamburg-based premium game developer to create a high-end racing simulation in order to strengthen the popularity and prestige of super sports cars in China. Even though the app has originally been tailored to the Asian market, it also performed very successfully in Europe and the US, where it received raving reviews and won over millions of fans. The title features 10 classy super sports cars by renowned brands such as Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche and Volkswagen with authentic equipment (e.g. paint jobs and rims) and engine sounds. It is currently available for free for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and a broad variety of Android smartphones and tablets.
Throughout the production, Fishlabs Entertainment and Volkswagen (China) have been particularly intent on incorporating the respective brand presentation into an authentic gaming experience – and by doing so, they have come up with a premium brand game that leaves the bigger part of the competition on the App Store far behind in terms of gameplay value and overall quality. By supporting various Web 2.0 features, such as the implementation of a number of Social Media features that enable the fans to share high-scores and screenshots on the walls of the four most popular social networks in China, Sports Car Challenge managed to reach a huge target audience and become especially popular among technology-affine young gamers in China and everywhere else in the world. So far, the title has generated more than 4.5 million downloads as well as an average playtime of 6.1 minutes and 8.2 sessions per user, with tendency to rise. In total, this adds up to more than 451 years of voluntary brand engagement and a media value of 6.3 million Euro.
The Digital Communication Awards are handed out by the Quadriga Hochschule Berlin. In the course of the ceremony, a high-ranking, 30-strong jury awards prizes for particularly outstanding achievements in the field of digital communications in a total of 35 different categories.

It's not just the Android side of things that's getting a little love from Netflix, the iPhone app just got a refresh too. The new design brings the mobile version much more inline with the tablet edition that got a revamp last December. The update brings with it the ability to resume watching shows, right from the top of the app view, along with the sliding rows of titles, and custom recommendations that you may be familiar with from other versions. The new interface gets the official walk-through in the video after the break, but as it's available now, you might just want to fondle the source link directly.

[Hyeinkali's] iPod Nano looks right at home on the dashboard of his 2001 Honda Accord. He got rid of the simple LCD clock and the buttons that were used to set it. The hack holds the iPod securely in place, but it remains easy to remove and take with you.
He started by popping out the bezel that holds the clock module and hazard light button in place. The original display was about the same width as the Nano, but he wasn’t interested in mounting the mp3 player under the dash. Since he needed to be able to take it with him to sync his music library he made a space near the bottom of the bezel to accept the connector end of the USB cable while keeping the device accessible. After connecting the other end to power he covered the hole in the bezel with mesh and put everything back together. We’re not sure if audio is piped into the car stereo via a cable or through Bluetooth, but it does feed to the head unit.

The WiFi adapter in your laptop has a special mode – monitor mode – that can be used to listen in on WiFi traffic and, with a little patience, can be used to crack a WEP password. Surprisingly, this monitor mode can’t be found on any Android device due in part to the limitations of the hardware. A group of three researchers, [Ruby], [Yuval], and [Omri], decided to spend their vacation adding monitor mode to their Android smartphones, allowing for a much more portable version of WiFi pwnage tools.
The phones used by the researchers – the Nexus One and Galaxy S II – used Broadcom chipsets that didn’t support monitor mode. To get around this limitation and allow the OS to see full 802.11 frames the team needed to reverse engineer the firmware of this Broadcom radio chip.
The team has released a firmware update for the bcm4329 and bcm4330 chipsets found in the Nexus One and Galaxy S II. The update may work for other phones with the same chipset, but don’t take our word on that.
There’s still a lot of work [Ruby], [Yuval], and [Omri] need to do. They’d like to add packet injection to their firmware hack, and of course create an APK to get this into the wild more easily.
If you have experience with kernel development and would like to help out, send the team an email. The source can be found at google code if you’d like to play around with it.

World's richest ever company continues to shatter records
Apple shares rose to an all-time record of $700 in after hours trading thanks to the imminent release of the iPhone 5.
The rise was sparked by the tech giant’s latest smartphone which garnered more than two million pre-orders after its first day on sale, more than twice the iPhone 4S sold in the same period.
Sales of the iPhone 5 were so strong that Apple claimed demand had exceeded initial supply, with many deliveries now scheduled for October instead of the September 21st launch date.
This time last year shares in Apple were worth $400, with share prices almost doubling since then to make the US firm the richest company of all time, with little sign of slowing down.
Shares closed at $699.78, $8 higher than the previous close.

Runic Rumble—a wild, unpredictable fighting game where spells can be deadly. Runic Rumble can now be downloaded for $2.99, and it’s available for Android and iOS.
Players were first introduced to 2D fighting games in Capcom’s Street Fighter II: The World Warrior—and in 1993, Sega’s Virtua Fighter defined the modern 3D fighter. Now, Runic Rumble takes a new turn in the fighting genre with a 2.5D perspective, precise gesture-based controls, and Retina graphics filled with unbelievable particle effects—the likes of which players have never seen on mobile.
The game is set on the world of Ámorrá, a brand new universe concocted byEpiphany Games. In Ámorrá, some things are exactly as they seem . . . and others are anything but. Aki, a Shaman, is on a mission to become a Great Wizard. A mischievous little creature with a sharp mind (and even sharper tongue), Aki has just escaped the bonds of servitude. Short in stature and fearless, Aki will not stop until he unlocks new, ever-more-powerful spells and discovers the origins of his people.
One night, while creeping around an eerie, deserted campsite looking for food and maybe the odd trinket to pocket, Aki is accosted by a powerful and mysterious Entity. Enraged by Aki’s trespass, the Entity transports Aki to another dimension where he is forced to fight for the Entity’s entertainment. Will Aki be able to escape—or will the Entity enslave Aki’s soul forever?
Features:
- Experience stunning visuals and fast-paced gameplay
- Use intuitive gesture-based controls
- Choose from 24 Spells—each with their own unique draw pattern
- Battle through more than 22 campaign levels and four levels of Guided Training
- Defeat endless waves of opponents in the Challenge Arena to score powerful spells
- Learn new spell combinations in the Free Training mode
- Combat enemies ranging from Spell Casters to Walking Fiends
- Play on both smartphones and tablets
“Special moves were always our favorite gameplay mechanic in fighting games,” says Morgan Lean, founder and CEO of Epiphany Games. “Runic Rumble takes the concept of a ‘Hadouken’ and builds an entire game around attacking and defending with magic. Runic Rumble’s beautiful graphics and gesture-based controls are the perfect introduction to the magical world of Ámorrá.”
Runic Rumble can be downloaded from the App Store and Google Play.

“Due to the great success we’ve had with Nightfall, we are excited to introduce an expansion pack for fans,” said Joel Goodman, CEO, Playdek. “The new additions in Nightfall: Martial Law give players the opportunity to surprise opponents as they vie to come out as victor in the end.”
Martial Law provides new Game Center Achievements (http://www.apple.com/game-center/), if users are logged into a Game Center account and new unlockable Promo cards.
A free update to Nightfall is required in order to purchase the Nightfall: Martial Law expansion. To purchase Nightfall for iOS visit iTunes.
