Sports Car Challenge by Fishlabs Entertainment and Volkswagen (China) has been named the best „Corporate Game“ at the award ceremony of the Digital Communication Awards 2012, which took place in Berlin on Friday, September 14th, 2012. In doing so, the title came out on top of more than 500 competitors from all over the world.
The free 3D racing game had originally been developed by Fishlabs Entertainment in late 2011, when Volkswagen (China) tasked the Hamburg-based premium game developer to create a high-end racing simulation in order to strengthen the popularity and prestige of super sports cars in China. Even though the app has originally been tailored to the Asian market, it also performed very successfully in Europe and the US, where it received raving reviews and won over millions of fans. The title features 10 classy super sports cars by renowned brands such as Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche and Volkswagen with authentic equipment (e.g. paint jobs and rims) and engine sounds. It is currently available for free for iPhone, iPad, iPod touch and a broad variety of Android smartphones and tablets.
Throughout the production, Fishlabs Entertainment and Volkswagen (China) have been particularly intent on incorporating the respective brand presentation into an authentic gaming experience – and by doing so, they have come up with a premium brand game that leaves the bigger part of the competition on the App Store far behind in terms of gameplay value and overall quality. By supporting various Web 2.0 features, such as the implementation of a number of Social Media features that enable the fans to share high-scores and screenshots on the walls of the four most popular social networks in China, Sports Car Challenge managed to reach a huge target audience and become especially popular among technology-affine young gamers in China and everywhere else in the world. So far, the title has generated more than 4.5 million downloads as well as an average playtime of 6.1 minutes and 8.2 sessions per user, with tendency to rise. In total, this adds up to more than 451 years of voluntary brand engagement and a media value of 6.3 million Euro.
The Digital Communication Awards are handed out by the Quadriga Hochschule Berlin. In the course of the ceremony, a high-ranking, 30-strong jury awards prizes for particularly outstanding achievements in the field of digital communications in a total of 35 different categories.
