It has been three months since Google launched KitKat, yet it is installed on less than two per cent of all active Android devices worldwide.
New data released by Google shows that KitKat is installed on 1.8 per cent of all Android phones or tablets that log in to the Google Play store.
Jelly Bean is still the most popular Android OS with 60.7 per cent, followed by Gingerbread with 20 per cent and Ice Cream Sandwich taking 16.1 per cent.
With KitKat’s rollout mainly coming to Nexus and Motorola products, it seems many third parties have held back on finalising upgrade plans.

Samsung’s new Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 tablet will be available to buy in the UK from tomorrow – Thursday, February 6th.
The first tablet Samsung’s PRO range will be available from selected retailers, including Carphone Warehouse and John Lewis, as well as the Samsung Experience Store at Westfield Stratford City.
Featuring what the firm claims is the world’s first 12.2-inch WQXGA widescreen (16:10) display, the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 3GB of RAM and Samsung’s S pen.
Simon Stanford, Vice President of IT & Mobile Division, Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland said: “We’re excited to bring the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 to market and set a new standard of excellence for the tablet category. The new MasterGear-Android 2.8.15 adds automatic recognition of some games requiring special hardware, such as Codemasters´ MicroMachines and the MLB Baseball games. I have also split the Settings into multiple tabs, for easier navigation, and moved some of them around.

I have started this week with the VGB-Android 3.9.15 release, a new version of my GameBoy Color, GameBoy Classic, and Super GameBoy emulator:

I have been fixing hardware emulation bugs over the last couple of weeks. As result, Aerostar, Alfred Chicken, Alien Olympics, Robocop 2, Shadowgate, and many other games work now. I have also added the DI+HALT bug emulation, where CPU will execute the instruction following HALT twice, if interrupts are disabled. Had to make this emulation optional though, as some games (such as Robocop) do not work with it. Finally, the Settings dialog is now tabbed, with the separate tab for hardware emulation options, and some other options (such as fast-fowarding and display orientation) have changed their places. - Added optional DI+HALT CPU bug emulation.
- Now enabling LCD controller on startup (fixed Aerostar, Alfred Chicken, and many others).
- Now disabling interrupts on startup (fixed Robocop 2, Shadowgate, and many others).
- Now clearing scratch RAM after reset.
- Settings are now tabbed, for easier navigation.
- Added Emulation section to the Settings.
- Moved some options from Input and Video sections to General.
- Reordered Settings by importance.
- Added Antz and Antz Racing to the Cheatopedia.
- Added Armada FX Racers to the Cheatopedia.
- Added Animaniacs to the Cheatopedia.
- Added Asterix to the Cheatopedia.
