Final Fantasy Tactics and Vagrant Story Director Yasumi Matsuno's episodictactical-strategy game Unsung Story: Tale of the Guardians has been successfully funded through Kickstarter. The Kickstarter campaign earnedUnsung Story developer Playdek a total of $660,126.
While the successful funding ensures Unsung Story will release for PC, Mac, Linux, iOS and Android in 2015, the campaign failed to reach the $1 million goal necessary for a PS Vita port, let alone the more expensive milestones needed for ports on PS4 and 3DS.
Prior to Unsung Story's launch in 2015, Playdek plans to release two digital card games set within the Unsung Story universe. The developer is also exploring the idea of cross-platform play in Unsung Story, but Playdek has yet to confirm the feature for any platform.

The next entry in the Hitman series will venture into the mobile space as a new strategy offering, Square Enix has announced.
Developed by a "small core team" at Square Enix Montreal, Hitman GO stands apart from the AAA action-adventure stealth franchise "while still [retaining] the essence of what a Hitman game is." The game will entirely turn-based and utilize diorama-style areas to navigate through.
"You will strategically navigate fixed spaces on a grid to avoid enemies and take out your target or infiltrate well-guarded locations," the official description reads.
"You really have to think about each move and all the Hitman tools of the trade you would expect are included; disguises, distractions, sniper rifles and even 47's iconic Silverballers."
No release date was mentioned for Hitman GO, but the developer states it's "almost ready for launch" on both smartphones and tablets.
Hitman franchise developer IO Interactive is still working on the next major installment in the series as well.

Nokia is preparing to release its first Android phone, as the lost market share in emerging markets from the death of Symbian has never been recovered. Windows Phone could never be adapted to the entry level devices that have driven growth in these markets, necessitating the move. From the article, 'Nokia was once the king of cellphones in emerging markets. But it has lost ground because it was slow to respond to Android's popularity in many countries. In India, where Nokia's Symbian-powered phones held a big share of cellphone sales just a few years ago, Android was installed on 93% of new smartphones shipped there last year, according to estimates from research firm IDC.

Smartwatch vendor Pebble is apparently working on a new product that will "absolutely batter" Apple's rumoured iWatch device.
A senior source close to Pebble told PCR the unannounced device is set to launch in around six months or longer.
"I feel sorry for Apple, because what Pebble are doing will absolutely batter the iWatch," the source said.
"They're doing things much greater than their steel smartwatch. It's magical, magical stuff. It will hit the market in around six months' time or so."
Pebble revealed the Pebble Steel – a steel smartwatch device – at tech trade show CES in Las Vegas earlier this year.
The company originally made the headlines back in April 2012 after its Pebble smartwatch received significant backing on crowdfunding website Kickstarter.

CBeebies Playtime has been played more than 22 million times in the last three months.
The BBC - who recently adopted WIndows Phone to connect with children - is celebrating its CBeebies Playtime app reaching two million downloads in less than six months by launching a new game.
Andy’s Dinosaur Adventure will be available on an update for the app which has currently been played over 22 million times, at an average nine minutes per play.
That is a total of more than 198 million minutes of CBeebies Playtime played little ones across the UK.
Christmas caused a 300,000 surge in downloads for BBC’s app, with 46,000 downloads on Christmas day alone.
Between launch and Xmas day, 56 per cent of kids used the app in a tablet compared to 44 per cent on mobile – from Xmas onwards players on tablets rose to 62 per cent and 38 per cent on mobile.
The new game, Andy’s Dinosaur Adventure takes children back in time to join Andy. Users get to take care of their own dino, learning what food it likes to eat, teaching it to roar, personalise it with new colours and take photos to share with friends and family.
The update is available now.

Pictures of what is supposedly the next generation iPhone have been released.
It’s Apple rumour time again, this time for the iPhone 6.
The images were published by blogger, Sonny Dickenson displaying what he says is the new iPhone’s rear casing.
It shows the recognizable camera lens and obviously Apple logo – however the alleged new device has a rounded back, and is considerably thinner than the iPhone 4 and 5 models.
Another image released on Twitter by @mornray886 shows a larger screen and Touch ID found of the iPhone 5S.
Sonny Dickenson has previously leaked images of the Galaxy Note 3 as well as Apple’s iPhone 5C – so he may well be onto something here.
Apple has been at the brunt of many rumours, some true some not so much - such as the iPhone wrapped display design which, even if it looked cool, probably wont come into fruition.
Take a look at the pictures below and see what you think.

Emerging markets the biggest driver of smartphone dominance.
Global sales of smartphones totaled on 968 million last year, which was an increase of 42.3 per cent from 2012, reports Gartner.
This equated to smartphones owning 53.6 per cent of the total market, surpassing feature phones for the first time.
The fourth quarter of 2013 saw smartphone sales grow 36 per cent increasing to 57.6 per cent of overall sales – up from 44 per cent year-on-year.
This drive in sales was led by emerging markets such as Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, Asia/Pacific and Eastern Europe, where it grew by over 50 per cent in Q4 2013.
India however made the biggest impact with a 166.8 per cent increase in the fourth quarter – China also contributed a significant part to the market with a 86.3 per cent growth in 2013.
Upstream predicted in December last year, that these emerging markets would increase ad revenue by 70 per cent in 2014, however if sales continue to grow at such a rate, we could see that figure surge.
Concerning devices, Samsung sat comfortably at the top of table with a 31.0 per cent share of the market, followed by Apple with 15.6 per cent.
Huawei and LG shared third with 4.8 per cent a piece and Lenovo answered for 4.5 per cent share.
Android is rapidly on its way to hitting one billion sales this year – as it claims the top spot in global OS use with a 78.4 per cent share, and obviously – even if a long way off - iOS at second with 15.6 per cent.
Microsoft came next with 3.2 per cent and BlackBerry with 1.9 per cent

Listings for phones and tablets carrying the now-deleted Flappy Bird have been pulled from auction site eBay.
The Guardian reports that users who had listed such items are being told that they violated the site’s T&C’s.
“Smartphones and tablets must be restored to factory settings before they are allowed to be sold on eBay,” an email to sellers reads. “Please remove all content from your device, including the game Flappy Bird, before you attempt to list your item again.
“Please be sure your current and future listings follow these guidelines, keeping in mind that additional listing violations could result in the suspension of your account.
“We have credited all associated fees except for the final value fee for your listing(s).”

iAddict: Once an iPhone user, always an iPhone user.
Three fifths of UK iPhone users would always choose a newer iPhone model when upgrading their device without even comparing what is on the market, reports SIMOnlyContracts.co.uk.
54 per cent of iPhone owners asked revealed that they had owned an earlier version of the handset as well.
17 per cent said that they owned a BlackBerry before turning to the iSide, 14 per cent had a Nokia, nine per cent Samsung, four per cent HTC and Sony Ericsson bringing up the rear with two per cent.
Of the 2,275 people aged 18 and over who said that they own an iPhone, only nine per cent stayed old school with an iPhone 3/3GS, 10 per cent had a 5C or 5S, 29 per cent owned an iPhone 4/4S and 52 per cent had an iPhone 5.
Roshan Bholah, founder of SIMOnlyContracts.co.uk, said: “It’s really interesting to discover this blind loyalty amongst iPhone users – they’ll no longer consider other mobile phones on the market, purely because they trust Apple and perhaps like being associated with the brand.”
37 per cent said that they stuck with Apple due to the fact that they were used to the interface, 28 per cent said they thought it was just the best phone available, and 25 per cent were influence by friends or family.
Bholah continued: “The old saying, â€if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ could ring true here, as it’s clearly a case of them having a positive experience with the handset. It’s ultimately the loyalty all brands hope to achieve with their customers – old and new.”

New rumours surface about the anticipated devices.
The Samsung Galaxy S5 is expected to be revealed at MWC 2014, sporting an eye scanner to rival the fingerprint scanner found on the iPhone 5S.
Meanwhile, Tim Cook has dodged questions about whether Apple phablets are on the way, meaning an iPhone 6 could potentially arrive with a five-inch screen. Either way, you can expect "great things."
The one thing the two devices will supposedly have in common, however, is a lack of buttons, according to the Korea Herald.
The bezel-free approach is supposedly because the rival firms want to concentrate their efforts on fingerprint scanners.
A source claims: "The finger-scanning technology will be available on the bottom left and right sides, and not the entire display. Scanning fingerprints on the entire screen, which was much talked about recently, will be available in the latter half of this year as there are still technological hurdles to overcome."
Additionally, the S5 is expected to come with enhanced touchscreen sensitivity to enable gloved use, while the devices are expected to be slimmer, with fingerprint sensors offering health benefits to check pulses.
The latter feature would be in keeping with Samsung's S-Health service, which encourages users to track their fitness and wellbeing. The firm recently invested $7 million in diabetes tech, which we reported as part of ME Fitness Month.

We hope you're ready for a rather interesting month for smartphones. Judging from the teasers, announcements and leaks, nearly all the major mobile players have something big to show in Barcelona next week. What you're looking at above is HTC's own next big thing, a new flagship smartphone that's doing the rumor rounds under the codename of M8. Looks familiar, right? However, there's already some notable changes, including an increase to three Android buttons, which are all now part of the screen. Having said that, according to mob.hr's leak, a bar with HTC branding means the screen will still takes up the same proportion of the phone's surface. Thankfully, the M8 appears to be made of metal just like last year's One, with the same micro-drilled holes for the speakers. According to this leak, expect a flip-top cover to go along with it too -- presumably with peep-holesfor both of those rear-facing cameras.

Even though the VAIO Flip 15 and 13 are both pretty solid PCs, some people might find one to be too big and the other too expensive. To alleviate this, Sony introduced the VAIO Flip 11A, an 11.6-inch laptop with the same Yoga-like designas the other, larger Flips. Available now for $799, Sony' newest convertible ships with Windows 8.1 and is powered by Intel's 2.16GHz Pentium N3520 CPU. What's more, there is also that included copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements 12, a 1,920 x 1,080 IPS screen, NFC support and 128GB of solid-state storage alongside 4GB RAM. It appears Sony is only selling its Flip 11A in the US at this time; that said, let us know in the comments if you see it up for grabs elsewhere. Or maybe it's all part of the company's new business plan.

Jeffrey Stephenson has long had a knack for giving PCs an elegant retro look, and he's now bringing his crafting skills to the mobile realm. His recently completedDuMont project turns an iPad mini, a Jawbone Jambox and a heap of wood into a tiny 1950s TV set, complete with a woven speaker grille; the owner just has to slot devices into the enclosure's side to indulge in some nostalgic viewing. Stephenson isn't officially selling the box, but he is taking inquiries from those who want a tablet TV of their own. If you're wondering how he did it, you can visit Bit-Tech'sforums to check out the project work log.

Samsung isn't going to make a big song-and-dance when it finally reveals its next flagship smartphone, at least not literally. When it announced last year's Galaxy S 4, the company put on a pretty grand show in New York. However, that isn't to say the current darling of Android is keeping everything a secret when it comes to theGalaxy S 5. In fact, the company has shared a surprising amount about what to expect, without us even getting close to the rumor mill. And, because Samsung makes the majority of its smartphone components in-house (processor, screen and battery) many of these announcements are made from the sidelines, months in advance, then not-so-miraculously appear (eventually) in the company's mobile devices.Last year's Samsung flagship didn't scream that it was truly a new phone in its own right ... something that Samsung's Mobile EVP, Lee Young Hee even admitted.
Broadly, Samsung's said that it's had a "back to basics" rethink on its next smartphone -- a good idea given that the GS 4 really didn't fall far from the Galaxy S tree. Slimmer, faster and sharper are all good, but last year's flagship didn't scream that it was truly a new phone in its own right. It's even something that Samsung's Mobile EVP Lee Young Hee, admitted in an interview withBloomberg. "It's partly true that consumers couldn't really feel much difference between the two products from the physical perspective." With this year's model, she added, "mostly it's about the display and the feel of the cover." So that's the front and back, right? At its most asinine, it could simply mean the GS 5 will pillage the faux leather effect that's now the standard on both Samsung Android tablets and its Note 3 series. Samsung's already transplanted the look to a limited-runGalaxy S 4, but it's the mention of changes to the screen that's got us a little more enthused than last year.

Yes, Windows Phones are finally keeping up with the Joneses. Thanks to the latest update, smartphones running Microsoft's mobile OS can now have top-of-the-line components. We got a good taste of how this feels with the Nokia Lumia 1520(spoiler: It's pretty dang good), but most people would prefer flagship specs in a smaller phone. Enter the Lumia Icon, a loaded 5-inch WP8 device exclusive to Verizon that goes on sale in black and white colors February 20th for $200 with a two-year contract. (It'll cost $550 at full retail or Edge pricing.)
The Icon comes with nearly all the same specs as the Lumia 1520: a 1080p display, 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 20-megapixel PureView rear camera (with optical image stabilization, a 1.2MP front-facing webcam, a Gorilla Glass 3 screen, Qi wireless charging, NFC, dual-band WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.0 + LE. Unsurprisingly, the 2,420mAh battery is smaller, and we hope it can efficiently manage the high-def screen and quad-core processor without a huge drain to the battery.
Aside from the battery and smaller screen, the Icon is an exclusive to Verizon, as evidenced by the three carrier-specific logos on the front and back. And while we wouldn't be surprised to see a 5-inch 1080p Lumia device hit the rest of the market at some point, it probably won't look like the Icon. The phone sports straight aluminum sides and a curved back fashioned out of matte polycarbonate. In many ways, the setup reminds us of the Lumia 925, which features rounded metal sides and the same plastic back; the Icon is 0.5mm thicker, but it also doesn't have a distracting camera hump like the 925 has. We'll offer more impressions below, but not before showing off a gallery of images and a brief walk-through video.

If sources who spoke with Bloomberg News are correct, a new Apple TV could be "introduced" as early as April. Apple is currently in talks with Time Warner Cable, among other programming partners, to add video content to the set-top box before releasing the next version.
The third-generation Apple TV came out just over a year ago, and while it's received software updates, both the design and selection of content haven't changed much since the original launched in 2007. Bloomberg's sources echo earlier rumors, saying the next-gen model could include a reworked interface that allows for easier navigation between different types of content. Naturally, there will also be a faster processor in Cupertino's fourth set-top box. Just don't get too set on that spring timeframe; though Apple may unveil the new product in April, sources say the release would coincide with the holiday season, depending on the company's progress in securing partnerships with TWC and others.
