LG has revealed that its Flagship Optimus G smartphone has sold over one million units in four months.
While the company is optimistic about growth in 2013, the one million Optimus G sales puts the device significantly behind its rivals, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone 5.
LG expects to sell 45 million smartphones in 2013, although this could be a challenge seeing as the company only sold seven million in Q3 of 2012.
The iPhone 5 managed to ship two million units in just the first weekend of mainland sales in China alone. LG may have some way to go before its smartphone range reaches that kind of hype, but Nexus 4 sales should help the firm claw closer to its 45 million sales target.

AtnSnes is Snes9x emulator for Symbian. It is actually based on DrPocketSNES version 6.4.4, which in turn is based on snes9x 1.39
The Symbian days are over for me, and I finally uploaded the app into the Nokia store The Nokia QA guys didnāt like the mario icon, so I had to remove it, and use crappier icon instead. This version should work with all Symbian Anna & Bellle phones.
Whatās new
- new crappy icon, since the mario icond didnāt pass nokia QA
- now avaiable in nokia store
Known issues:
- Mounted shares(Dropbox etc.) breaks the filemanger, so do not use mounted shares.
- Does not work on Nokia 500, since it doesnāt have GPU.

It's been nearly two weeks since Apple made its 15-inch next-generation MacBook Pro available as a refurb and now the 13-inch model's ready to follow suit. Listed on the company's online storefront today, iFans averse to full retail pricing can now snag the base model with a 2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, 4GB RAM and a 500GB HDD for $1,019 (about $180 less). That's if you hate your eyes, but have slightly more respect for your wallet. Or... or you can go for the gloss and get the Retina model with the same processor setup, 8GB RAM and a 128GB SSD (configurations of up to 512GB also available) for $1,439 -- so long as you're willing to pay more of a premium. However it shakes down for you, there's no denying you're in store for savings and the pleasures of a product that's almost brand new.

Phablet ā a phone/tablet hybrid ā has become an industry term for a smartphone sporting a five-inch screen or larger, and IHS iSuppli says shipments of said devices will hit 60.4 million in 2013. That's equivalent to a 136 per cent year-on-year growth on the 25.6 million shipments made last year.
The data comes following last week's CES, which sawHuawei debut an enormous 6.1-inch Ascend Mate smartphone, just 2cm shy of measuring the same length as a Kindle Fire tablet.
Vinita Jakhanwal, director of small and medium displays at IHS iSuppli, said: "The move to offer larger-display smartphones reflects the efforts of both device and panel makers to differentiate their products.
"With consumers demanding more lifelike viewing experiences, the trend to offer such devices makes perfect sense, especially considering the increase in rich content that is being made available on smartphones."

Googleās Nexus 7 tablet outsold Appleās entire iPad lineup in Japan throughout December.
This is the first time another tablet has dislodged the iPad from the number one spot since the first modelās launch in 2010.
Research from BCN shows that the Asus-made Nexus 7 took 44.4 per cent of the market in December, while Apple managed 40.1 per cent.
The report cites cost as a major factor for Japanese consumers, with the Nexus 7 costing around $100 less than a comparable iPad mini.
Around 3.6 million tablets were sold in Japan during December, nearly three times as much as the same period in 2011.

Final Fantasy All The Bravest is a chaotic, combat-focused RPG coming to iOS tomorrow, January 17, priced at $3.99. The New Zealand App Store description describes continuous fights with enemies based on the series' Active Time Battle staple, and as the trailer above shows these fights involve character-stuffed parties, with as many as 40 party members taking on enemies at once. It's a good thing attacking is simply done via taps or drags across multiple characters. Another twist comes via 'Fever,' an event that occurs once every three hours and, when activated, lets you attack without waiting for ATB gauges to fill.
All The Bravest features 20 progress-unlockable characters, all based on series jobs like Thief, Blue Mage, and Knight. There are a further 35 'Premium' series characters such as Cloud from FF7 available via in-app purchases, priced $0.99 each. In a cheeky move, each purchase provides you with a new character at random, meaning it might take more than a few goes if you're after a specific one. You can also purchase additional stages based on areas from Final Fantasy 7, 10, and 13, available as 'World Tickets' for $3.99.
All The Bravest features 30 songs from the series, most of which unsurprisingly are battle themes, as well as leaderboards and social networking options. We've reached out to Square Enix for further details on the game and its release in other regions.

Shortly after blaming video games for the Sandy Hooks shooting the NRA released an iOS shooting game that bore the disconcerting age rating of 4+. After much hullabaloo, Apple has changed the age rating to 12+ for "frequent/intense realistic violence."NRA Shooting Range, no longer deemed appropriate for four year olds.
New York senator Charles Schumer felt that despite skipping the 9+ age rating entirely, the new restrictions weren't high enough. "Apple did the right thing by acknowledging that this game isn't for young children, but should go farther and make the restrictions as tight as possible," said Schumer to CBS News. "The NRA has acted in an unbelievably hypocritical fashion by blaming the nation's gun violence on video games and movies, then coming out with a game for children featuring assault weapons. Apple should not facilitate children using it."Let's not get carried away here; the next rating up is 17+ followed by "no rating." The game may be a steaming pile, but content-wise you're not doing more than shooting inanimate objects. As it turns out, Schumer isn't the only New York politician outraged by this app. New York mayor Michael Bloomberg said, "It is the height of hypocrisy. If you remember the head of the NRA's speech on television, he blamed violent children's games for causing things like the terrible tragedy in Connecticut.""One month and one day or maybe one month to the day, the NRA comes up with its own violent app. I don't know what else to say. I don't know how to describe it. The PR, the stupidity of doing it, is just mind-boggling," he added. On the other end of the spectrum is former Speaker of the House and Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich who told CBS This Morning "My understanding is that it is a gun safety app and that it's for young hunters to learn gun safety," he said. "I would recommend people watch the entire app before they render judgment."

For those who haven't yet found a reason to check out the three-month old PlayStation Mobile store, Sony's got a rather compelling one for ya: freebies. Starting today, one game will be available gratis every seven days as part of a "New Year giveaway," which will last six weeks in total. To obtain the complimentary titles, you'll need either a Vita, or a device that's been PS-Certified -- an honor currently bestowed upon several Sony slates, a bunch of Xperia and Sharp handsets, and HTC's One series Android phones. Samurai Beatdown is the first cross-platform game to lose its price tag, so if you've got rhythm, hack and slash your way over to the PlayStation Mobile store to get downloading.

The entire Galaxy lineup pushes Samsung - and Android - forward
[h=3]Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.[/h]
Samsung Electronics recently announced that its flagship Android smartphone, the Galaxy S III, has sold over 40 million units since its launch in Summer 2012. The company says the phone currently has average daily sales of 190,000 units.
The entire Galaxy S product line has sold 100 million units for Samsung. The Galaxy S III's predecessor, the Galaxy S II, hit sales of over 40 million units in 20 months on the market.
In contrast, demand for Apple's iPhone 5 may be lower than previous models, according to reports from the Wall Street Journal, Nikkei, and the New York Times. All three outlets cite Apple's cutbacks on screen orders for the latest iPhone. The news has sent Apple's stock tumbling down to a closing price of $485.92 today, down 3.15 percent. The company is expected to share official earnings numbers on January 23.
Research firm Strategy Analytics expects that this will be the year of Samsung ascendant, with estimates of 320 million Samsung smartphones shipped in 2013 versus 180 million iPhones. Kiwoon Securities analyst Kim Sung-in told Reuters that he expects the number of Samsung phones sold to reach 320 million, with tablet sales doubling to 32 million units.

Londoners would be well advised to keep their wits about them when using their mobiles in public, after the Metropolitan Police found that an average of around 160 phones are stolen every day.
The findings show that 56,680 mobile phones were stolen between April and September in 2012, which, when broken down, reveal that an average of 79 iPhones and 157 mobiles in total were stolen each day.
Mobile phones are now the most common stolen item, making up for 70 per cent of belongings taken in muggings. And whatās more, these figures show no sign of falling, after it was revealed last month that 9,751 mobile phone offences were committed. This number is also set to rise this month, with the Metropolitan Police indicating that these kinds of offences tend to rise in January when compared to December.
The findings coincide with the launch of a new advertising campaign aimed at warning the public of the risks of personal robberies.
Simon Letchford, detective chief superintendent, said: āWeāre trying to make people think differently about this campaign ā having your personal possessions on show gives robbers a chance to make easy money. If you are a victim, you may lose things that have a personal value to you and which canāt always be replaced, in addition to the cost of replacing items.
āWhile we continue to work to reduce these offences there are a number of practical steps you can take to help protect yourself ā including videos and advice tips we have made available via our MPS website ā and would urge the public to view these.ā

Square Enix has launched a new teaser site for a new game announcement planned for January 17 - this Thursday.
The site simple shows the date surrounded by silhouettes of character sprites.Kotaku has discovered, embedded in the site's source code, a link to an iTunes app page for a 'Final Fantasy: All the Bravest', which not only seemingly confirms Apple iOS as the platform, but also coincides with the site's URL, which contains the characters 'ff_atb'.
Long-time fans of the series may also recognise the sprites as characters from Final Fantasy V and VI which, along with the game's subtitle, suggests a new Final Fantasy game that draws characters from multiple titles.
Square Enix registered domain names and filed a trademark application for a project called 'All The Bravest' back in November last year.
Expect all the details to be revealed on Thursday.

News of a decline in demand for iPhone has seen Appleās share price fall to its lowest point in nearly a year.
Appleās share price fell 3.6 per cent to $501.75 yesterday ā a 28 per cent fall since its September 2012 high.
Bloomberg reports that Apple has ordered just half of the 65m iPhone 5 displays it had originally targeted for this quarter and last month cut its production by 30 per cent.
However, JP Morgan analyst Mark Moskowitz claims that the alteration to orders āmay also be due to suppliers becoming more adept at building the latest iPhone, reducing the need for Apple to order excess partsā.
Added Moskowitz: āThe bigger message related to any potential order cuts could be that iPhone 5 manufacturing yields and thereby gross margin are on the rebound.ā
Thatās not to say Apple isnāt facing a tough fight in the months ahead, however.
Atlantic Equities Service analyst James Cordwell stated: āWeāre getting close to saturation. The real growth is going to come from emerging markets, and Appleās share in emerging markets is much lower than it is in other markets at the moment due to such high prices.ā
Apple is rumoured to be readying a lower-spec budget version of the iPhone which it will reveal in the summer.

Featured spot in prime-time advert up for grabs for winning app
Microsoft has launched a contest for Windows Phone 8 which gives developers the chance to get their app featured on a televised advert.
Next App Star is designed to help give developers more visibility and attract more customers by being advertised on a āprime-timeā commercial in the US.
The contest is open to developers around the world, with the deadline for registered developers to opt-in through the dev centre ending on March 5th. The contest is open to apps already released and those published before the deadline.
App submissions will be judged on an āequal weighingā of user ratings and app quality, as well as the implementation of new Windows Phone 8 features such as Live Tiles.
Once the deadline passes, 64 apps will be put head-to-head in a public vote over the following several weeks, which will gradually narrow the number of choices to 32, 16, 8, 4, 2 and then the winner.
Prizes up for grabs include cash, a Nokia Lumia 920 Windows Phone and a one-year free Dev Centre subscription ā with the winner gaining a place in the Microsoft advert.

Budget smartphone line significantly outperforming manufacturerās premium handset.
The demand for budget smartphones appears to be on the rise, after Nokiaās recently published quarterly results revealed that its cheaper Asha device is outselling its flagship Lumia handset at a rate of more than two-to-one.
Nokiaās quarterly figures showed that of the 14 million Lumia and Asha smartphones sold, only 4.4 million were made up of the premium device.
The growing demand for less expensive smartphones recently sparked rumours that Apple is planning to introduce a more affordable iPhone model to the market in the near future.
Ian Fogg, principal analyst at IHS, told the BBC: "We forecast that by 2016, 31 per cent of the global overall handset market will be low-end smartphone.
"An entry-level smartphone is very different from a high-end smartphone," he explained. āSmaller, cheaper devices have processors from two or three years ago, they have small screens with low resolution, and weaker cameras. They can all do email and the web but gaming and browsing is a much better experience on the higher end phones."
In the UK, entry-level smartphones are available from as little as Ā£29.00, while at the higher end of the market, Appleās iPhone 5 retails for around Ā£529. And with Apple operating at the premium end of the spectrum, one certainly wonders whether it would be wise for the firm to make the move into lower-cost devices.
"Apple makes high quality products, it doesn't make cheap products," Fogg added. "That doesn't rule out Apple creating a cheaper iPhone that still has high quality components. Look at the iPod range - they started with a premium price product, then they added the mini, the Nano, the shuffle - they went to a range of products hitting different price points."
