German site TelekomPresse has gotten its hands on the BlackBerry Z10, a touchscreen smartphone that is particularly similar to Apple's iPhone 5.
In a demonstration video, the tech site shows off the Z10 and its Siri-like voice control functionality, which parallels the Siri technology used on the iPhone 5 in both form and function.
Initial impressions of the two devices show a number of differences, with the Z10 packing a 4.2-inch screen that belittles the four-inch display of the iPhone.
Meanwhile, both devices place a power button on the top of its frame, whilst volume controls are placed on opposite sides of the devices.
Unlike the iPhone, which has often been criticised for its limited connectivity options, the Z10 incorporates both USB and HDMI connection on the left side of its frame.

Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 2 get latest version of Android operating system.
Google’s Android 4.1 operating system, a.k.a. Jelly Bean, is coming to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 2 tablets.
The best-selling Samsung tablets will also come with Premium Suite, which Samsung says will offer “dramatic improvements” to both the tablets’ multi-tasking features, along with improvements to the S Pen stylus.
The Galaxy Note 10.1’s Multi Window view now facilitates the new Cascade View feature, that is aimed to allow users to easily resize, move and pin applications in multiple views, running them at the same time or while operating the home screen.
Elsewhere, Air View enables the user to preview content, without having to open the related apps, while the new Quick Command feature offers users the ability to create and preset shortcuts for the S Pen.
The Galaxy’s handwriting software has also been improved, letting users send handwritten notes over email and hand-write directly in the S Planner.

Samsung has announced that an NFC-enabled version of the Galaxy S3 Mini will be available across all major networks in the UK from the end of January.
Powered by Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the S3 Mini includes S Voice, which enables people to tell the phone to wake up, answer an incoming call, or even take a photo. Also featured is S Beam, which allows a 10MB music file to be shared in just two seconds. By combining NFC with Wi-Fi Direct, S Beam is capable of sending larger files between phones.
Simon Stanford, vice president, Telecommunications & Networks, Samsung UK and Ireland said: “NFC technology and the digital wallet started to gain significant traction in 2012, particularly in the run up to the Olympics. It’s an exciting time in the mobile market watching the next phase of its evolution take shape, so we’re happy to announce that we are bringing these new experiences to our customers through our growing number of NFC-enabled devices.”
Samsung has also unveiled its latest advert for the Galaxy Note 2 and S3 devices, which takes a dig at Blackberry devices.
Set within the offices of a fictional game developer, the ad shows shots of Blackberry devices being frowned upon by most of the staff.

Analyst Peter Misek believes that iPhone 6 is preparing to enter production ahead of its release in June/July.
Jefferies analyst Misek told investors in a note this week that Apple is testing two new iPhone prototypes. This coincides with a number of rumours suggesting there will be an iPhone 6/5S as well as a budget/mini smartphone released by Apple this year.
Misek predicts that the next gen iPhone will be 0.8-inches bigger than the latest model, which would give it a 4.8-inch screen.
"Similar to the iPad mini, we expect a concentrated low-cost iPhone rather than a 'cheap' one. Likely specs: polycarbonate case with 4in non-Retina display and no LTE," said MIsek.
At the beginning of the year, PCR reported that there were a number of reports indicating that Apple’s next iPhone device was already in use and running a future version of its iOS software.

Pate has posted some new WIP news of his DOS emulator for the Android, whats Dos you ask well its a way of playing old PC games via emulation, damn cool really
Heres his newspost:
During the past two weeks I have been working on the Mode-X and EGA graphics mode support. I got Mode-X support working already last weekend. As soon as I got the most common Mode-X graphics mode opcodes implemented, I wanted to see whether Doom would run in ax86. The first problem I ran into with Doom was that it tried to detect the type of the floating point coprocessor. This is part of the DOS4GW initialization routines, so even though Doom itself does not use floating point operations, the DOS extender wanted to detect the FPU type. I have not yet added any floating point support into ax86, so I had to add some hacks to simply bypass those FPU operations that DOS4GW uses. This allowed Doom to progress slightly further.
The next problem was that Doom complained "Not enough available XMS memory", which was a bit weird since I had allocated (or so I thought) 16MB of RAM for XMS emulation. After some debugging it turned out that I had made a silly mistake, I meant to allocate 16MB of memory but I only allocated 16KB of memory for the XMS emulation! No wonder that was not enough for Doom to run. Next I ran into an unsupported protected mode far call opcode. I had not implemented all protected mode opcodes when I ported the 386 features from DS2x86 to the Raiden Legacy core, and this was one of those unimplemented versions. Implementing it was pretty easy, but then I ran into a more difficult problem.
I fought the whole of last Saturday with a weird problem where protected mode SS (stack segment) register got an invalid value. I used both my DS2x86 and DOSBox to help me in checking what the correct value should be, but the problem was that those two did not even call the routine where this invalid SS value problem happened! So, this was obviously some more serious and difficult to find problem in my code. After a considerable amount of backtracking I finally found a routine that does get called, and was then able to follow the program flow and see where the code paths differ. Finally I found the problem. There are five similar opcodes that load both a segment register and a general purpose register simultaneously. These are called LES, LDS, LSS, LFS and LGS. I had separate 16-bit and 32-bit handlers for each of those, but for some peculiar reason the 16-bit LDS handler did not have the protected mode code at all! I don't quite understand how and why I could have skipped implementing that, but at least doing that fixed the problem in Doom.
After fixing that I ran into an architectural problem that was caused by my using statically allocated first megabyte of RAM, but a dynamically allocated XMS memory block. This caused those two memory blocks not to be adjacent, which in turn caused problems in some of my memory handlers. I decided to have all my emulated RAM be dynamically allocated (as there is no proper reason why any of it should be statically allocated), and fixing that let Doom to start up and run the demo games fine!

Opera has been in the mobile web browser game for some time now, but it looks like it's set to soon shake things up considerably. As detailed in an internal video obtained byPocket-lint, the company has been working on an all-new mobile browser dubbed "Ice," which ditches the company's own Presto engine in favor of WebKit (bringing it in line with the likes of Safari and Chrome). What's more, Ice looks to fully embrace a touch interface optimized for smartphones and tablets, with gestures replacing buttons and icons on a central home screen replacing tabs. You can apparently look for it to land on both Android and iOS sometime in February, with a new desktop version of Opera set to follow in March (details on it are comparatively light). Head on past the break for some highlights from the video.

Imangi Studios caught us off guard with the out-of-nowhere launch of Temple Run 2 on iOS, but what's the word on the Android version?
The developer told Polygon that the wait won't be long for Android users, with the company intending to launch the sequel to the hit infinite runner on Google Play and the Amazon Appstore.
The developer made it clear that the date still needs to be finalized, adding “with these things, you never know.”
Temple Run 2 launched earlier this week for Apple's tablets and phones via the iTunes App Store.

Often referred to as the godfather of the iPod, former Apple executive and current Nest CEO Tony Fadell played an instrumental part in Apple's resurgence. Recently, Fadell opined on what makes Apple's design process different from the rest of the pack. Fadell explained that a key and yet often overlooked, difference between Apple and other tech companies is that Apple ships 99% of the products that pass certain internal milestones. By way of contrast, during Fadell's tenure at Philips — where he was charged with overseeing the company's audio strategy — the iPod guru noted that Philips would axe 9 projects out of 10, even if a particular product was about to ship.

Up to a million Android users in China could be part of a large mobile botnet, according to research unveiled by Kingsoft Security, a Hong Kong-based security company, this week. The botnet has spread across phones running the Android operating system via Android.Troj.mdk, a Trojan that researchers said exists in upwards of 7,000 applications available from non-Google app marketplaces, including the popular Temple Run andFishing Joy games."Update: 01/19 12:54 GMT by S : Changed summary to reflect that these apps didn't come from Google Play.
