Are you jacked into your iPod 24 hours a day? How about when your cell phone rings?... you know the drill. Pull out one earbud while trying to jam your cellphone headset into the same ear and then pick up the call before it goes to voicemail. It's damn inconvenient and a process no self-respecting geek should ever go through. Now your cellphone and iPod can live together in happy harmony.
The Skullcandy Cellphone/iPod Headset eliminates this cumbersome gadget switching process and replaces both your iPod earbuds and your phone's handsfree headset with one integrated device. When a call comes in simply touch the controls on the cord to silence your iPod or reduce the volume. A built in microphone ensures your calls sound crystal clear, and you get the bonus of better quality audio on your end. You can even continue to listen to your music privately while you chat on the phone. Frankly it's amazing to us how you've managed without these handy headphones till now.
The Skullcandy Cellphone/iPod Headset comes in your choice of an earbud format or behind the ear style headphones.

As the full-sized iPod version of the company's previously released and positively reviewed TuneFM for iPod nano (iLounge rating: A-), TuneFM for iPod boasts the same improved FM transmitter technology, on-iPod screen tuning, and an included car charging cable. The cable attaches to a mini-USB port on TuneFM's bottom. Now there's also a detachable plastic spacer in the package, which can be removed to let the transmitter work while your iPod's inside many (but not all) open-bottomed cases.
In addition to two up/down tuning buttons, four station preset buttons let you save good FM channels for later use, and when pressed together toggle between U.S. and Japanese tuning ranges, monaural and stereo broadcasting modes, or five different volume levels appropriate to different iPod models’ Dock Connectors. The on-screen display isn’t pretty on a big iPod, but it works.

Apple Computer recently held a meeting to discuss changes to its corporate policy after the company sent an upsetting legalese reply to a third-grade girl who had hand-written a letter to chief executive Steve Jobs with her thoughts on improving the iPod.
When 9-year-old Shea O'Gorman and her third-grade class began learning about writing business and formal letters, she thought who better to write to than the chief executive of the company that makes her iPod nano.
In her letter to Mr. Jobs, little Shea offered her ideas on how the company could improve on its iPod digital music players, such as adding song lyrics so listeners can sing along to their tunes.
After waiting nearly three months, Shea finally received a reply from Apple's Cupertino, Calif.-based headquarters, and the entire family gathered around to read it.
To the dismay of Shea and her family, the letter wasn't from Mr. Jobs. It was from Mark Aaker, Senior Council of the company's Law Department, telling the third-grader that Apple doesnt accept unsolicited ideas, so she should not send them her suggestions and if she wants to know why, she could read their legal policy posted on the Internet.
"She was very upset, and kinda threw the letter up in the air and ran in her room and slammed her door," the girl's mother told CBS 5 News.
Of course, Apple's policy was instated to protect the company -- and anyone who submits ideas to the company -- from ending up in a costly legal spat if similar ideas are ever adopted into future Apple products. However, you'd think the handwriting of a 9-year-old may have drawn company's lighter side.
Apple reportedly decline to comment on the mishap, but the company's General Council placed a personal call to Shea to apologize following a CBS 5 News inquiry.
It was also reported that Apple held a meeting this past Wednesday in which it discussed ways that it could amend its corporate policy when dealing with children.

One iPod thief has been caught red handed, and red faced, by staff at Apple retailer KRCS.
Adrian Smith, manager at the Nottingham-based Apple reseller, had his iPod stolen from his car last weekend.
Fortunately for Smith, the cable-less criminal walked into KRCS just days later, seeking cables for a "suspiciously familiar-looking iPod".
Smith told Macworld: "I immediately recognized it. I told the bloke I’d have to try different cables, and when I plugged the iPod into the Macintosh it came up as 'Adrian’s iPod' straight away."
A quick-thinking Smith told the 'customer' he’d have to check the iPod further, and while fellow staff-member Iain McKechnie kept the thief talking, Smith called the police, who recognized the description Adrian gave of the man and responded instantly.
An arrest was made on the spot, with Nottingham city police congratulating Adrian on his instant recognition of his own property and prompt reactions.

April 16th, 2006, 09:57 Posted By: wraggster
The roll-out of Apple's forthcoming video iPod has been delayed substantially after the company encountered problems with the display and touch-screen interface, Think Secret has learned. As late as early February plans were in motion for Apple to deliver the most innovative iPod to date in April, possibly a tie-in with its 30th birthday, sources said. Instead, Apple's birthday came and went without fanfare.
Think Secret disclosed in early February Apple's true video iPod intentions, which include a wide-screen display spanning the entire front of the iPod with a touch screen interface that is being billed by Apple as a "virtual track wheel." At that time Think Secret had been tracking a late March or April release.
Sources speaking on condition of anonymity say issues emerged with the technology that have sent Apple and the display's manufacturer back to the drawing board to find a solution. As such, a more definitive release date is unknown at this time, but sources say Apple expects the new iPod to be ready by calendar Q4, in enough time for the holiday buying season.
It remains unclear whether Apple is planning a smaller update to the current iPod, which was introduced six months ago, in the interim.
The larger, widescreen display will deliver an improved video viewing experience and herald the arrival of feature-length movie sales as the iTunes Music Store. In hindsight, the fact that Apple remained so far from striking a deal with two leading Hollywood movie distributors, as Think Secret reported in March, suggests the company might have been aware of technological problems facing the new iPod at that time and saw no need to aggressively push for an agreement.
Multiple sources have stressed that Apple will not launch the video iPod without a movie agreement in place, and that a movie store will not open without the video iPod. The impasse in negotiations lies in the terms of sale: Apple wants to sell movies affordably a-la-carte as it does with music, but Hollywood wants a subscription deal.
In the last month, both Cinemanow and MovieLink started selling more Hollywood titles, including brand new releases, in addition to the already established Vongo service. None of the three services are compatible with Mac OS X, however, and sources say Apple was unaware of the Cinemanow and MovieLink deals. Cinemanow bills itself as "the #1 legal movie download store" and sells movies a-la-carte, but for the same price, if not higher, in some cases, than actual DVDs, killing part of the incentive for purchasing a digital download.

Hard drives can melt down. Computers can be stolen. Music folders can be deleted by mistake. Whenever the only copy of your music exists on your iPod, you need a way to get that music off there and on to another computer. Otherwise, that iPod will be stuck with the music it has on there, and you'll never be able to add another song or playlist--unless you want to reformat the iPod within iTunes and lose all your music. Fortunately, there's another way to go. It won't cost you a dime, and it requires no software.
There are a few things to know before you get started. First, this works only for Mac iPods (or iPods that normally sync with an OS X Mac). Windows users should use this tutorial instead. Second, if you use this to transfer songs purchased from the iTunes Music Store, the computer you're copying to will need to have the same account on it in order to play those protected songs. Third, when using the information below, you should probably keep in mind the warning that Apple affixed to the iPod ("Don't steal music").
Follow these simple steps
1 Enable your iPod for use as an external drive.
In order for your computer to see the iPod's folders, where the music resides, you will need to enable it for use as an external disk drive. To do this, connect it to the computer you normally sync it to and wait for iTunes to start up. Then Ctrl-click your iPod in the left-hand menu pane and select iPod Options. You'll start out in the Music section, which is right where you want to be. Near the bottom of the screen, check the Enable Disk Use box if it isn't already.
2 Connect the iPod to the destination computer.
Using either a FireWire or USB cable (the white one that came with your iPod), connect the iPod to the computer in which you're trying to copy the music. If iTunes comes up, ignore it without clicking anything; we're going to use OS X itself to copy the music.
3 Run the Terminal application.
Open a new Finder window (double-click the hard drive icon or go to File > New Finder Window), then select Applications. Find Terminal.app. It may be located in the Utilities folder. Once you find it, double-click the Terminal application to fire it up. A window will pop up.
4 Tell OS X to view hidden files.
Type or paste this exact text into the Terminal window:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
Press Enter, then type:
killall Finder
Press Enter and do not close the Terminal window.
5 Find the Music folder.
You should see your iPod on the desktop--an iPod icon with your iPod's name under it. Double-click it to open it, then double-click the iPod Control folder. Within that, you'll see the Music folder.
6 Copy the music.
Drag the Music folder on to your desktop to copy the music. When it's done copying, rename the new desktop folder Transferred iPod Music or something easy for you to recognize, then drag it off the desktop and on to your hard drive.
7 Add the music to iTunes.
In iTunes, select iTunes > Preferences > Advanced. Make sure the "Keep iTunes Music folder organized" and "Copy files to iTunes Music folder when adding to library" boxes are checked. Click OK. Leave iTunes open. In Finder, navigate to your hard drive and select the aforementioned folder where your newly transferred iPod music is stored. You'll see several subfolders with odd names such as F06. Open each subfolder individually to view the files inside--notice that these too have odd names (example: WPDQ). Select all the files inside and drag them into the iTunes window. Once the tracks are in iTunes, the ID3-tag info--album, artist, and so on--will show up. Repeat this for each subfolder.
8 Remove the extraneous music folder.
When you've finished transferring all of your music to iTunes, go to your hard drive and delete the Transferred iPod Music folder. You no longer need it since iTunes automatically copies the new tracks to the iTunes Music folder; it even creates the appropriate Artist and Album subfolders.
9 Tell OS X to put away hidden folders and files once again.
Once you've transferred all of the music files you want from the iPod to the computer, it's time to make OS X not see hidden files and folders anymore (you don't want them cluttering your view down the road). In that same Terminal window, type or paste the following exactly as it appears here into the Terminal window.
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE
Press Enter, then type:
killall Finder
Press Enter.
You're done!

Apple has reportedly run into trouble with its upcoming video iPod, where it can’t seem to get the display and touchscreen interface to work properly, according to Think Secret. The Apple rumors website reported that Apple had hoped to deliver the new video iPod in April, but sources said Apple engineers decided to redesign a balky touchscreen on the iPod, which allegedly includes a wide screen display spanning across the width of the device and uses a virtual trackwheel.
Think Secret also asserted that Apple may have foreseen technical problems with the new video iPod in February, and that might be the reason why it hasn’t aggressively pursued rights deals with Hollywood studios for full-length movie downloads. We think Apple also might be waiting to see what happens with other movie download sites before it jumps in to the movie downloading fray.

Companies that develop inflight entertainment (IFE) systems for airlines have been in discussions with Apple about integrating the iPod and iTunes into IFE systems, according to several of the companies. Proposed applications include seatback-based iPod docks with USB and charging ports, allowing passengers to charge song and video purchases to frequent-flyer miles, and adding other ecommerce applications. "Our interests are wider – not just Apple, but enabling any e-commerce on the aircraft. Music is one thing in that category we are working on," said an exec with Panasonic Avionics. However, numerous obstacles stand in the way of inflight downloads, including changing Apple's licensing, so that songs downloaded directly to an iPod in the air could later be copied back to a customer's hard drive, and the issue of licensing and payment while a plane is in international airspace. Then, there's the issue of getting Apple to participate in the first place. When asked for a comment by editors at Flight International, the company issued what has to be one of our favorite "no comment" lines, especially for a technology company: "Apple never talks about the future." We'll keep that in mind.

A little info tidbit may have leaked out in an electronics market in India, where a couple of bloggers spotted a large sign calling attention to 5GB and 10GB iPod nano models.
Noticing an Apple Authorized Reseller sticker in the window, the two heard from the store’s proprietors, telling them the two larger-capacity nanos were expected by the end of May. It could happen.

Former Gizmondo executive Stefan Eriksson is facing grand theft charges after Los Angeles detectives concluded that three of his luxury cars actually belong to British financial institutions.
According to the LA Times, police raided Eriksson's Bel-Air mansion on Friday night and conducted a six hour search of the property. Eriksson was later taken into custody, and his USD 1 million black Enzo was confiscated.
Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore told the LA Times that detectives believe the car belongs to UK banks, as did Eriksson's red Enzo, which was destroyed in a crash on a Pacific highway in February, and his Mercedes SLR McLaren -which was seized last month after his wife was caught driving without a license.
Eriksson purchased all three cars in the UK, and brought them with him on moving to LA. But Whitmore said that two financial institutions claim they hold the titles to the cars, and that payments have lapsed.
"This is the beginning of the investigation," Whitmore said. "All three cars have now been confiscated."
Eriksson is being held without bail at the request of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
