As the full-sized iPod version of the company's previously released and positively reviewed TuneFM for iPod nano (iLounge rating: A-), TuneFM for iPod boasts the same improved FM transmitter technology, on-iPod screen tuning, and an included car charging cable. The cable attaches to a mini-USB port on TuneFM's bottom. Now there's also a detachable plastic spacer in the package, which can be removed to let the transmitter work while your iPod's inside many (but not all) open-bottomed cases.
In addition to two up/down tuning buttons, four station preset buttons let you save good FM channels for later use, and when pressed together toggle between U.S. and Japanese tuning ranges, monaural and stereo broadcasting modes, or five different volume levels appropriate to different iPod models’ Dock Connectors. The on-screen display isn’t pretty on a big iPod, but it works.
