Please take the time to use the form, we would like to know if we are just wasting our time creating free themes for the Zodiac. We hope that the Zodiac community is not totally dead. Is there a Bluetooth-equipped iPod on the way? UK girls'n'gadgets magazine Stuff certainly thinks so, based on a conversation it's had with an unnamed British retailer. If Apple's telling retailers to prepare for such a product, it can't be far off launching the thing.
CEO Steve Jobs has, of course, been sceptical about such a device, claiming it adds one more battery - the one in the headphones - users have to remember to keep charged. Then again, he's expressed scepticism about not only Flash-based music players but also devices that play video too, and Apple has nonetheless released iPods with Flash and with video playback.
What's made a Bluetooth iPod likely is iPod chip maker PortalPlayer's announcement it plans to integrate Bluetooth and Wi-Fi circuitry into its media processors, as Reg Hardware was first to reveal, in February. The move comes courtesy of a tie-in with UK-based Bluetooth chip design pioneer CSR, aka Cambridge Silicon Radio.
A variety of accessory manufacturers already offer Bluetooth stereo audio add-ons for the iPod and other MP3 players, though all of them require a transmitter that clips onto the music machine. Bluetooth 1.2's A2DP extension handles the transmission of stereo data across the ether.
The downside is you need bulky headphones that incorporate their own battery. That's fine if you like that kind of thing, but less satisfy for listeners who prefer compact, lightweight earphones. We hope Apple doesn't cut costs by dropping the 3.5mm earphone socket.
Of course, Stuff's retail source could simply have his wires crossed, and be thinking of one of the many Bluetooth iPod accessories coming to market. We shall see..

If you’re looking for an iPod charging dock and speaker system that won’t break the bank, these iDocker iPod Speakers are only $29.90 and come with a remote control. We can’t imagine the sound quality is going to be spectacular, but if the price is right, hey. It’s not like they could possibly sound worse than speakers made out of cardboard, right?

Urban riders listen to music instead of the traffic sounds around them at their own peril, but if you ride somewhere safe like paths or tracks maybe you’ll be interested in the iBikeMount, which lets you attach your iPod Nano to your bike’s handlebars. It’s a little pricey for what it is at $29.99, but you can use it on exercise bikes, baby strollers and even lawnmowers if you want to.

iKey lets you skip a step or two if you want to transform analog audio onto wav or MP3 files, a convenient way to turn vinyl into digital. Plug in your left and right channel on one side, and plug in your iPod or USB key into the other, and this little box changes analog into digital without a lot of effort. Save your files in your choice 128, 192 or 256kbps bit rates on MP3, or go with uncompressed .wav files. All those old records better be worth it, though, because this little box costs $230.

J&R is taking pre-orders on another iPod Nano protection scheme. Instead of a case they are offering Nano’s custom painted with X2 scratch resistant liquid plastic coating. The iPods are cleaned, painted and cured under UV light to apply the coatings which come in six different color combinations. The process adds about $65 to the price of the Nano, so it comes close to what a normal case might cost.

"The new iGoatse is the definitive skin for your iPod. There are no words to describe it. And you know why."
Besides the angry pink you see above, iGoatse can also be seen in equally lurid shades of green and blue. Dull cream and gray also, but we feel that bright colors are best, to remind the world what Goatse stands for: Freedom. Liberty. Anal leakage.

Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer told Fortune magazine that the company is interested in taking on the iPod, and hinted about combining the player with a cellphone. Ballmer said,
“In five years are people really going to carry two devices? One device that is their communication device, one device that is music? There’s going to be a lot of opportunities to get back in that game. We want to be in that game. Expect to see announcements from us in that area in the next 12 months.â€
Of course, Microsoft will have to play catch-up again and again, because Apple will almost certainly have an iPod phone on the market 12 months from now. Good luck, Redmondians.

March 29th, 2006, 17:53 Posted By: wraggster
A month after losing his Enzo Ferrari in a crash on a Californian highway, former Gizmondo executive Stefan Eriksson has been forced to say farewell to another luxury car after police impounded his Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.
According to the LA Times Eriksson's wife, Nicole Persson, was driving the car when a Beverly Hills police officer's suspicions were aroused by its European licence plate.
He stopped the vehicle and found that Persson was unable to produce a driving licence. Further investigations revealed that the $400,000 Mercedes was not registered in the US, and after contacting Scotland Yard, police learned that the car may have been stolen.
LA County Sheriff Sergeant Phil Brooks said that Eriksson is now left with just one of the three luxury cars he imported into the US last year. "He brought in through San Diego two Ferraris and the Mercedes and said they were show cars and that he was not going to drive them on the streets," Brooks said.
Police are still investigating the incident last month where Eriksson's Enzo Ferrari was destroyed on a Pacific Coast highway. Eriksson claimed the car was being driven by a man named Dietrich, but so far police have been unable to ascertain his whereabouts.
