When the Beatles and Steve Jobs somehow both decided to call their companies Apple, someone would inevitably be singing the song “I’m a Loser.” In a court battle over whether iPods and iTunes will still be allowed to carry an Apple logo, a British judge ruled that Apple Computer has a store and a music player, and the music itself doesn’t have Apple logos on it, so there’s no harm, no foul.
Taking a conciliatory tone toward Apple Corps, the Beatles’ company, Apple CEO Steve Jobs held out the olive branch:
“We have always loved The Beatles, and hopefully we can now work together to get them on the iTunes Music Store.”
But former Beatles roadie and now Apple Corps manager Neil Aspinall was obviously not happy with the decision:
“With great respect to the trial judge, we consider he has reached the wrong conclusion…We will accordingly be filing an appeal…”

In the franchise of the Super Nanat, Bubu Kong and Alyssa characters comes a new mobile phone game called "Super Nanat Xplozion". Bubu Kong has done it again and kidnapped Super Nanat's girlfriend Alyssa. This time however Super Nanat has increased his arsenal of weaponry with explosives in order to get rid of nasty flames, blow up walls that block his path and generally increase the level of damage he can do compared to using just his trustry hammer... Bubu Kong has become even more of a berserker as he can break through walls now when he gets really ticked off... It won't be easy but surely Super Nanat can save the day (and Alyssa) again?
This game is available for over 100 of the most popular handsets as usual with Xing Mobile products. For more information on distribution, licensing and sales opportunities please visit www.xingmobile.nl

Vilmos posted this news:
Finally the new Cyclone core is working well for PalmOS! I can get about 99% of the games working. This is a bugfix version so the big change is stability in the Cyclone interface and the screen resizing is (hopefully) fixed up when using the status bar.
As before this version also has the ability to underclock the CPU and Audio speeds. They are on the launcher beside the CPU label, the first is CPU speed, the second is the Audio CPU speed.
Please let me know how stable this version is compared to the last one. I think it has good potential for a full release.

fangorn has released a new Neo Geo emulator for the Tapwave Zodiac, heres what he says:
<blockquote>Here's my NEOGEO emulator for the Tapwave Zodiac only. Runs at a fair speed and has extensive ATI graphics optimisations. Has its own memory manager so it doesn't need UDMH. It won't currently run the really big games but as the image shows below it does play that classic!
I was going to delay it until I could get the Cyclone 68000 ASM core running but I can't get the thing to work with NEOGEO. Once I get that running it will give it a big speed boost. 16bit games also aren't fully supported (freaky graphics) but most games are fine.</blockquote>

Via the Sun;
DOZY staff crashed a hospital’s vital computer system for TWO DAYS — by downloading songs for their iPods.
NHS computers which should be used to store patient notes and digital X-rays were crammed full of tunes.
Staff had downloaded the songs over the internet to the PCs for transfer to their trendy iPod music players.
The main server at the Queen Mother Hospital in Margate, Kent, was put out of action for 48 hours.
As well as music, staff jammed it with hundreds of videos, photos and games.
An angry patient said last night: “It’s a disgrace. How can they sit around downloading music when they should be looking after patients?
“By blocking up the system they’ve put people at risk.”
After the main server crashed the hospital went on a go-slow.
X-rays had to be processed using film and patient notes were pulled out of hand-written back-up files.
Red-faced bosses at the hospital — which had to close a ward last month because of a £35million hole in finances — admitted the computer misuse had cost money.
A spokeswoman said: “Staff have been told that from now on any music or other inappropriate files will be wiped.”

Back before "Fast" Stefan Eriksson was crashing cars and lying to police, he ran a little portable gaming company called Gizmondo. Their scam? Defraud investors by promising them a way into the very attractive, and lucrative, gaming market.
One of their most effective tools was to promise a Gizmondo-exclusive portable Halo title. Gizmondo did have an arrangement with Microsoft Game Studios to produce some titles, including the popular MechAssault series, but Halo was definitely not a part of that arrangement. A former-Gizmondo employee told GameSetWatch that the title had only "a storyline and basic game structure at the very earliest stage of concept" and that it was all done "with a wink and a nudge to extract more cash out of the investors." Isn't that sweet?
It isn't all bad though: the engineers at Gizmondo managed to get code running -- using one of id's open-source game engines -- enabling the Gizmondo's rear-mounted camera to control the "mouselook", allowing for a uniquely precise handheld FPS control scheme. Who knows what could have come of the Gizmondo if the execs weren't busy lining their pockets?

As iPods are further integrated into cars, there’s a danger of users T-Boning some poor salary man because they were putting on “In the Air Tonight” instead of paying attention to the road.
Now Apple releases a patent for the iPod that tags each song, genre, artist, actor, and other relevant info with their audible equivalent. This means when you’re navigating the menus, the iPod speaks the name of the item you’re on so you never have to look down. Useful and safe.
But, er, Apple? The least you could do is spell Phil Collins’ name correctly. Now he’s going to drown you and sing about it at a concert. That’s so true.

Noooo! Say it ain’t so, ATI. You were so well respected and always give us graphical geeks the prettiest booth babes and babe posters. Now you will disgrace yourself by teaming up with Nokia for multimedia purposes. It is a sad day indeed.
Today ATI announced the partnership with Nokia for multimedia development on mobile devices. Multimedia meaning music, TV, video and unfortunately, gaming. Most of the focus seems to be around ATI’s Imageon processor for 3D, video and audio processing. Nah, this doesn’t have anything to do with the N-Gage—yet—but anytime we hear gaming and Nokia in the same sentence we tend throw up a little bit.

GameSetWatch has a piece up reporting on a lost title in the Halo universe. The game, slated for the Gizmondo portable device, utilized a unique control scheme. From the article: "... the game, had it gone into production, would have used the Gizmondo's back-mounted camera to detect motion and provide a 'mouselook'-like effect as you swiveled the handheld around, enabling the player to change the camera view just by physically rotating the machine. Whoa." This game has been rumoured in the past, but this time around GSW has the facts to back things up.

Two men trapped in a Tasmanian mine for more than a week are listening to iPods while rescuers prepare to start a new drilling operation in a bid to free them.
Drilling to free the pair, who are trapped in a cage beneath 12 metres of rock, is expected to begin at about 3.30pm.
The men, Todd Russell and Brant Webb, were trapped in Beaconsfield Gold Mine in northern Tasmania after a rock fall, which killed fellow miner Larry Knight, last Tuesday evening.
They were discovered alive on Sunday night and were finally given nutrition on Monday night when a small via a PVC pipe. Since then, they have had a regular supply of food, water, dry clothes and blankets.
Mine operators say drilling will take about 48 hours.
A digital camera has also been passed to the men so they can show rescuers and medical staff their surroundings and what is happening to them.
"They are able to point the camera around the various parts of their fairly cramped environment," Australian Workers Union national secretary Bill Shorten told reporters.
"That helps actually guide the rescuers to the best spot to rescue the blokes, so the blokes are helping to rescue themselves," he said.
If all goes well with the final stages of the rescue operation, Mr Russell and Mr Webb are likely to be breathing fresh air — above ground — on Friday afternoon.
Age reporter Gary Tippet said from the scene that rescue crews were waiting for the drilling machine's concrete base to set before they could begin boring through to the men.
Creature comforts
But Mr Russell and Mr Webb are still in good spirits, according to union representatives, after they received deodorant, toothpaste and other creature comforts last night.
The two miners had also been given music to keep them entertained while they wait.
Rescuers were in constant contact with the trapped men, mine manager Matthew Gill said in a statement released this morning.
"They remain in good health and have now received iPods so they can listen to their favourite music,'' he said.
It is believed that one of the men has asked for country music.
Concrete base
Mr Gill said overnight eight truck loads of concrete were sent down the mine to create an even pad for the Raise Borer which rescuers hope will drill through the rock imprisoning the two miners.
"That work was completed early this morning but the concrete needs time to cure,'' Mr Gill said.
"The Raise Borer will then be bolted through the pad into the rock beneath to ensure it has a stable platform. The positioning of the Raise Borer must be precise to ensure the bore hole comes out where intended,'' he said.
While hygiene appears to have been a problem for the men during the first days of their ordeal, water dripping down through the mine shaft and water sent down to the men by rescuers has allowed them to wash most waste away from the cramped cage where they have been confined.
Shrink-wrapped deliveries
The men are now comfortable and dry courtesy of some shrink wrap that rescuers used to help deliver fresh clothes to them. The clothes were sent down the nine-centimetre diameter pipe that rescuers have used to communicate with Mr Russell and Mr Webb.
Letters sent to the miners from their families are also helping them to endure the situation.
Tasmanian Ambulance Service northern region superintendent Wolfgang Rechberger today said the two miners were being delivered water every hour and food every eight hours.
"We have a feeding regime in place. They're getting water, they're getting food and we're doing our best to keep them in good spirits," he told reporters at the scene.
He said Tasmanian paramedics were liaising with the NSW ambulance service and other experts with experience in underground rescues.
Mr Rechberger said two paramedics were in the mine monitoring Mr Webb and Mr Russell at all times.
"They're doing remarkably well at the moment, we're very pleased with the condition that they're in," he told Channel Nine.
"Emotionally they're holding up very well at this point in time."
