Tinnus has released a new version of the Multi Console Emulator for the Tapwave Zodiac and other Palm Devices, heres whats new:

1.0 RC3 / 2006/04/13 / "teaser" release before LJR
[SMS/GG] Added: SRAM save/load. Actually can't remember when I added this, hehe.
[VCS] Added: Recognizing the .a26 extension
[VCS] Added: Reset and Difficulty buttons
[VCS] Changed: Rendering code now well-organized; now it can run on low-res devices!
[ALL] Added: Configurable ROMs path for each system, accessible in the "Other" panel
[ALL] Added: Per-game settings (click the "Config" button while in "Game Mode")
[ALL] Added: Screen flipping! Just enable "flipping" in the GFX config screen.
- Currently not implemented in all modules due to the coder's (me) laziness
- Just for testing for now, available in NES only (I think..)
[LAUNCHER] Changed: Now there are two "button groups". The first button on the left indicates if you're in
"System Mode" (do stuff console-related) or "Game Mode". Click it to toggle between "System" and "Game".
You'll notice the buttons below change. This way, for each game you have the option of
deleting/accessing its custom configuration (see below).
[LAUNCHER] REMOVED: Categories (was causing too much instability on launcher)
[LAUNCHER] Fixed: A lot of bugs. Launcher should be a lot more stable.
[ALL.GUI] Changed: Hiding buttons in the GFX config menu for features not used on your device (less confusion)
[ZODIAC] Added: 4:3 screen mode
[ZODIAC] Changed: fullscreen launcher
[ZODIAC] Changed: fullscreen buttons in in-game GUI

The iPod, a study in non-repairable design, is apparently actually a good friend to the environment. According to apple, the iPod complies with the Californian and European Reduction of Hazardous Substances directives, meaning it doesnât contain much nasty stuff like lead. Those iPod chargers are also Energy Star complaint and the iPod Nano is made of biodegradable starch and the fur of non-endangered field mice. So nice.
Apple also wants you to send them your old computer. From now on, when you buy a new Mac, theyâll offer you free return shipping and recycling for your old PC. In addition, according to the Sierra Club, Apple is a âForward Green Leader,â which means it gets to fly with Luke during the final Death Star run.

April 24th, 2006, 16:39 Posted By: wraggster
The growth of the mobile games industry has been stalled by a widespread failure to invest in customer satisfaction, Digital Chocolate marketing VP Jason Spero has told MobileIndustry.biz in an exclusive interview.
Spero believes that the mobile industry has hit a wall in terms of customer penetration not because of too few consumers trialling products, as is the conventional wisdom, but because many of those who do are being disappointed.
"My view is that we're churning users," he explained. "My view is that we're not satisfying end users; my view is that we've got plenty of trial. So many people in the industry are focused on trying to bring more users into the tent - and I'm happy that people are spending effort on trial, we are as well, but the industry as a whole has under-invested in customer satisfaction."
Although he wouldn't name any of the products in question, Spero claimed that Digital Chocolate has identified a "Dirty Dozen" titles which are regularly trialled by users and whose quality is so poor that those users are then lost to the mobile content market.
"There are a lot of them in the racing category, and there are a lot of them in the movies category - and every time a user shows up and downloads one of these, that user is going to be lost to the mobile ecosystem for quite some time," he accused.
"Every time we promote and feature something that is of low quality, and deliver a bad user experience, we've then taken $5.99 or $6.99 from that user, and lost them forever to the ecosystem," he concluded.

Hi,
I bought a couple of Gizmondos a few weeks ago, but haven't had much time to do anything much with them until now.
I took the PocketNester source and beat it into submission until it ran on the Gizmondo. The buttons are mapped, sound works, and all that jazz.
I'm including the text of the readme.txt file from my distribution below. Please read it in full before asking any questions about how to get it running and so on.
GizNester 0.1.0
------------------
Gizmondo port by critical of PocketNester 0.7, which in turn is based on nester.
It emulates a Nintendo Entertainment System console, complete with sound.
PocketNester is licensed under GNU Generic Public License(GPL), as is GizNester.
The original licence files and documentation may be found in the doc directory of
the zip file that this readme file came in.
Contact: criticalhippo@gmail.com
Installation
------------
Put GizNester.exe in the root of your SD card, along with the included gx.dll
if you don't already have it.
Usage
-----
Currently only one NES ROM is supported (there's no file chooser). The file must
be put in the root directory of your SD card, and be named:
ROM.NES
Buttons

The joypad does what you'd expect. The other buttons are:
<< SELECT

There is currently no elegant way to exit the emulator.
The system may be reset by holding down Home and Power for a few seconds as usual.
Tests

A high school student was threatened and robbed by a group of teenagers while walking home Tuesday, said Sergeant Tom Guenther of the Evanston Police Department.
Three teenagers approached the Evanston Township High School student on the north alley of the 1500 block of Dempster Street, Guenther said. One of them said, âGive me your iPod or get beat up.â The other demanded the studentâs money, while the third remained silent.
The student gave the teenagers his Apple iPod and $8, Guenther said. As the student walked out of the alley, he met âJim,â an acquaintance, and told him about the incident. âJimâ tracked down the teens and retrieved the iPod before police arrived.
Police searched for the teens but did not find them and did not retrieve the victimâs money, Guenther said.

Apple has long boasted of its culture of innovation, and how this led to such products as the original Mac and the iPod. However, it turns out that, at least in the case of the iPod, Apple had a hidden ally: the US government. During a speech at Tuskegee University, President (and iPod user) George W. Bush told his audience, "the government funded research in microdrive storage, electrochemistry and signal compression. They did so for one reason: It turned out that those were the key ingredients for the development of the iPod." While we have to gratefully acknowledge the efforts of government agencies such as DARPA in some of the fields mentioned by the President, we also feel obligated to point out the accomplishments of private companies in the US and abroad, including IBM, Hitachi and Toshiba -- not to mention the Fraunhofer Institute, which developed the original MP3 codec, and codeveloped (with Sony, AT&T and others) the AAC format used by Apple in the iPod. Still, we have to bow down before his Steveness; we knew he was well-connected, but until now we had no idea of his level of influence in the area of government research. Hey, Steve, while you're at it, why not get the government to resolve the display problems plaguing the next-gen video iPod? We're sure they'll get their best minds on it and fix it in no time.

Did you know you can now download first aid advice in mp3 format to store on your iPod (or any mp3) player? They are copyright free and have been professionally recorded so they will always be crystal clear when ever you need them.
They cover all the situations where giving the correct first aid may mean the difference between life and death.
All the advice provided is up to date and complies with Resuscitation Council guidelines. Of course, we realise that everyone hopes that they are never confronted with these situations. But unfortunately, the facts are otherwise. What is more, the chances are the victim will be somebody close to you.
So visit our audio centre and get downloading!

Chip vendor PortalPlayer has been dealt a severe blow by Apple, as the computer company has apparently decided not to use PortalPlayer's media processor in some next-generation iPod models. PortalPlayer has been working on a successor to its PP5021 chip, but the company says Apple will not be using it in new high-end and midrange flash models. However, PortalPlayer expects (or is that hopes?) that Apple will continue using the PP5021 in other models. There's no word yet on whose chips Apple will be using in the next iPods, though we expect rumors to start flying furiously very soon. Meanwhile, in an indication of the power of the iPod ecosystem, PortalPlayer's stock plummeted over 40% in about 10 minutes of trading today -- not a major surprise, perhaps, given that the iPod accounts for a whopping 90% of the company's revenues. But, hey it's not all bad news: PortalPlayer has plans to provide chips for auxiliary displays on Windows Vista-based computers. Which should provide some relief in about two or three years, once such computers actually start shipping.

File these under the heading âUmmm⊠Duh?â iPodGear has some shots of real and counterfeit iPod shuffles and Nanos. While they wouldnât fool anyone who has actually seen a Nano or Shuffle in their lives, it seems that someone has put a load of effort into making sure they are ripping of the ignorant with just the right amount of panache.
While the fake Nano, shown above, wonât fool anyone, the Shuffle box is pretty convincing.

Muff recently launched the first three styles in their new Designer Muffs series, limited edition iPod covers created by up-and-coming Australian designers. Each one is handmade in Australia from printed polyester canvas outside with polar fleece and foam inside to keep your 5G iPod or Nano safe and sound. $17 + $6.50 shipping from Down Under. We think the Ghosties design by Seb Godfrey of Drunk Park is the smartest of the three currently available, but your mileage may vary.

Omnipresent heiress is teaming up with French publisher for her own line of cell phone games.
See it »
Screenshot Index » Love her or hate her, there's no denying that Paris Hilton just won't leave the public eye. Besides her omnipresence in supermarket tabloids, the heiress to the Hilton hotel fortune has also appeared in films, co-written two books, and is currently putting the final touches on her debut CD. On a more prurient note, she was also the star of a widely circulated XXX-rated video, One Night in Paris.
Hilton has also made her presence felt in games, albeit tangentially. She was among the celebrities invited to help shill the Nintendo DS at the 2006 Sundance Film Festival, and was also on-hand at the Xbox 360 launch party last May.
Now, it appears Hilton is getting her own game. Today, Paris-headquartered mobile publisher Gameloft announced has a deal with the 25-year-old starlet/spokesmodel/amateur adult actress to "develop and produce a series of mobile games featuring Paris Hilton and her likeness." According to a statement issued by the publisher, the first game to feature the Simple Life star "will be geared to tweens/teens." Later games will be aimed at gamers of other ages and sexes.
"I'm excited to collaborate with Gameloft to bring the Paris Hilton brand and the glamour of young Hollywood to the cell phones of all my fans around the world," said Hilton in a statement. "My phone has become an all in one entertainment device and mobile games are an integral part of that. Mobile gaming is really hot right now and I'm excited to be part of this project."

The iPod AV, what would be Apple's sixth-generation iPod, would be quite a dramatic departure from the previous iPods.
Approximately the same size as the 5G iPod, the iPod AV is composed entirely of a large, touch-sensitive screen. Apple's Click Wheel, found on every previous iPod, now exists only in a digital sense, as a moving part of the iPod AV's touchscreen.
It stands a good chance, however, that these images are fake; MacShrine has posted purported iPod AV pictures before, and they've been proven to be fakes . However, these images are very, very convincing, so only time will tell as to what Apple has in store for the world next.

Burst.com, the same company that sued Microsoft in 2002 and to which Redmond paid a $60 million license fee in 2005, claims Apple infringes upon several of its patents relating to music and video downloading. As such, it recently demanded that the U.S. District Court in San Francisco shut down a range of Apple services, including iTunes, Quicktime streaming and sales of the companyâs flagship product, the iPod. Of course, Apple responded with what amounts to âmake me,â filing a counter-suit demanding the rescinding of Burstâs patents in question. First itâs France demanding Apple open its iPod and now Burst demanding back royalties. Maybe Apple should hire a better image consultant.

April 19th, 2006, 01:59 Posted By: wraggster
A report in the British newspaper the Mail On Sunday has alleged that Kevin Maxwell, the son of the late media tycoon Robert Maxwell, was involved in a failed bid to rescue collapsed mobile gaming company Gizmondo.
According to the paper, Maxwell held a meeting with top executives at Gizmondo last year and discussed a deal which would have seen him providing funding to keep the firm afloat in exchange for a stake in Gizmondo's US parent company, Tiger Telematics.
The deal fell apart, however, when Maxwell failed to produce the funding. Along with his brother Ian, Kevin Maxwell had previously been declared bankrupt with debts of over GBP 400 million - a figure which even dwarfs the debts with which Gizmondo finally sank.
Although Maxwell was acquitted of charges of fraud in the wake of the collapse of the Maxwell media empire in the early nineties, after the suspicious death of controversial media tycoon Robert Maxwell, the actions of the Maxwell brothers and their father were described by the UK's Department of Trade and Industry as "inexcusable."
In a related story, disgraced former Gizmondo executive Stefan Eriksson - who left the company prior to its collapse after it emerged that he had been convicted for his involvement with mafia organisations in Sweden - has been charged on a number of counts after his arrest in the USA last week.
Eriksson, who hit the headlines after his Ferarri Enzo crashed into a pole on a Californian highway at 162mph a few weeks ago, has been charged with embezzlement, grand theft and being a felon in possession of a gun, as well as two counts of drunk driving.
The embezzlement charge relates to taking three cars, including the Enzo, worth a combined amount of over US$ 3 million out of Great Britain despite being prohibited from doing so by lease agreements, while the gun possession charge is due to a gun being found in his home in Los Angeles in contravention of a law preventing convicted felons from possessing firearms. Eriksson has a felony conviction for counterfeiting dating from the early nineties.

The beauty of the Homebrew Computer Club, one of the first formal computer clubs in the country, if not the world, was that it kind of broke new ground. The state goal was to bring computing to the masses. The Homebrew Mobile Phone club, however, seems to have missed the boat. Phones are here and locked down tight. Iâm sure Verizon et al wonât enjoy a bunch of haxors modding their smartphones. If they were tooling around with homemade cellphones back in 1985, then maybe weâd give them some props.
Anyway, if you want to figure out how to upgrade your phone, go to their meeting out in California on May 4.

In order to expand its content and advertising presence online, ABC has announced that it will offer its hit television shows to users via ABC.com. Bob Iger, President and Chief Executive Office of the Walt Disney Company outlined the networkâs plans at the Bear Sterns Media 2006 Conference in Palm Beach, Florida. My ABC, which has not been launched yet, will offer users the ability to download shows for free.
According to Adage, Iger announced at the Bear Sterns Conference this week, âMike Shaw [ABCâs president ad sales and marketing] announced today we are going to take a product to market in May. Viewers will have the ability to access shows such as âLost,â âDesperate Housewivesâ and âGreyâs Anatomyâ on ABC.com. They will be ad supported, free to the consumer.â The advertisements that run with the videos, however, may not be the same ads that appear with the showsâ TV broadcasts.
ABC, like NBC, already sells shows through Appleâs iTunes store for $1.99 each. CBS has a deal to offer user shows through Comcastâs video-on-demand platform.

Yeah, this thing may lack all of the extras like speakers, easy docking, remotes, etc. But this dock was built from the heart, with love for Apple. It was crafted out of steel, shaped like the traditional Apple logo and will conveniently hold the iPod video. There is enough room on the bottom to plug in the docking adapter. Nice work.

Prosecutors say there was no Dietrich; Eriksson now faces charges of grand theft, embezzlement, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
When former Gizmondo executive Stefan Eriksson was arrested and held without bail last week pending charges of grand theft, a police spokeman told The Los Angeles Times the investigation into Eriksson's highly publicized crash that destroyed a rare 2003 Ferarri was just beginning.
The latest report from The Times doesn't say if that investigation is over now, but it does point out that the charges against Eriksson have multiplied. Today he was officially charged with grand theft and embezzlement in connection with the wrecked Ferrari (and the rest of his exotic car collection, allegedly leased from British owners and illegally imported to the US), and possession of a gun by a convicted felon.
The Times cites court papers in saying Eriksson was convicted of counterfeiting and drug crimes in Sweden, and says detectives found a gun at his home in Bel-Air, California.
If convicted, Eriksson could be sentenced to up to 14 years in prison.
