The Canadian team at Cyanide has created iSurf, which is the company's first title for iPhone and iPod Touch.
iSurf lets iPhone users try surfing, and makes use of the devices accelerometers and touchscreen to offer what promises to be a pick up and play experience. Featuring increasingly challenging waves and over 40 maneuvers, the game includes a range of unlockables, and is available now for £1.79 on the iTunes store.
"The iPhone is a very interesting platform, given its sleek design without buttons or pads, unlike other hardware. This motivated our game designer in the same way as did the Wii," declared Fabrice Granger, COO of Cyanide Montréal.
"The decision to develop a game for the iPhone is a natural step for Cyanide, which has been broadening its target hardware platforms over the past couple of years. Moreover, the App Store is a very attractive distribution channel for developers, even if it is difficult to gain visibility," added Granger.
Headquartered in Paris, Cyanide's studios have created popular titles on various formats including Blood Bowl, Pro Cycling Manager: Tour de France, Dungeon Party, Loki, Chaos League and others.

Konami sort of brought Pop ‘n Music outside of Japan. Beat ‘n Groovy was a localized version of the arcade music game that perplexed newcomers and alienated fans with its art style. Perhaps, Konami is seriously thinking about bringing the original series overseas.
Konami registered a trademark for Pop ‘n Music in the USPTO. Interestingly, the trademark is not registered for use with arcade machines like Jukubeat which was also filed recently. That pretty much rules out an arcade release and a late protective trademark. What could Konami use this for? A console version of Pop ‘n Music? An iPhone version of Pop ‘n Music? Possibly. The trademark says it can be applied to “downloadable game programs for cellular phones”.

In the same article as the multiple-data-speed iPhones iLounge published their artist renditions of the next generation iPod Nano -- the iPod Nano 5g. This new version is due to be released in July/September of this year and has the major addition of a camera?!?
Other changes include a larger aspect ratio on the screen moving from 1.33:1 to a larger 1.5:1. The click wheel will shrink, have a smaller button, and be moved towards the bottom of the device a bit to support the larger screen.
The artist concept looks pretty good but I have some small issues with it. First and foremost the camera seems to be in a very odd place. Seems to be there would be a lot of accidental covering of the lens when people are trying to shoot

In the most recent iPhone rumor via iLounge it appears that Apple is going to be producing two different iPhone models differentiated by data speed.
The "slow" model will be a 3g phone. The fast model will be an enhanced 3g model supporting 3.5/3.75g speeds. Americans on AT&T will most likely get the enhanced 3g model to support AT&T's upcoming 7.2 Mbps data network. Customers will not get a choice on whether they want the normal 3g or the enhanced version. Versions will be sold based on on country and carrier capabilities. The third model of the phone to be thrown in the mix will be a Chinese version for sale exclusively in China.
While you wont be able to pick which speed your carrier is offering you will be able to pick storage size. It is still up for debate whether it is going to be an 8/32GB choice or a 16/32GB choice.

Japanese games giant lines up ten titles for Apple's device
Capcom has become the latest big-name publisher to firmly pin its name to Apple’s iPhone mast with the news that it will release ten titles on the platform in the year ending March 2010.
Reuters reports that the publisher has enjoyed success with the recently released Resident Evil: Degeneration, which brings the popular over-the-shoulder mechanic of global hits RE4 and RE5 to handheld for the first time.
Few publishers enjoy as rich a bank of IPs as Capcom, and if the iPhone version of Resident Evil meets expectations, the publisher is likely to turn to other big-hitting series such as Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, Bionic Commando, Phoenix Wright, Monster Hunter, Lost Planet, Dragon Quest and Devil May Cry.

Comes with operator billing in Australia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Spain and the UK.
Nokia has opened the doors to its much-anticipated Ovi Store, which it hopes will steal some of the mobile app initiative back from Apple.
Customers can update their devices with the Ovi Store mobile app (Nokia says it is compatible with more than 50 million S60 and S40 handsets globally) by selecting the Ovi Store icon in the Download! folder on their device.
The mobile client is available in English, German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish and supports operator billing in Australia, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Spain and the United Kingdom.
Globally, credit card billing is available through the mobile application and the mobile website.
Additional countries, languages, devices and features will be added throughout the year. AT&T, which already offers Apple's iPhone, plans to make Ovi Store available to its customers in the US later this year.
Tero Ojanperä, Executive Vice President, Nokia Services, said: "Ovi Store is open for business and we've stocked the shelves with both local and global content for a broad range of Nokia devices. Ovi Store makes shopping for content and applications easy and fun for feature phone and smartphone owners alike."

Oh look, another set of Palm Pre / webOS emulator videos care of TheInvisibleMan of PalmPreForum.org. This time we get a new two-part Q&A session and a glance at the calendar, PDF viewer, phone, e-mail, and universal search, which as the name suggests not only searches locally on the phone but also lets you run that query through Google, Google Maps, Wikipedia, and Twitter -- something iPhone OS 3.0's local-only spotlight frustratingly lacks. That said, we can see ourselves being bothered by the apparent inability to open PDFs directly from the browser, and it looks like the email client might not group threads together. A major bummer if that's the case, but this is an early emulator, so we're holding onto the tiniest bit of hope that changes somewhere down the line. Like before, we've gone ahead and grouped all the new videos in a playlist after the break.

While direct movie and TV show downloads on the iPhone certainly seems like a reasonable enough proposition (over WiFi, at least), we're not completely convinced that a rogue ad in the Twitterfon app is the first place such a feature would leak out. According to a report on Open Salon, however, that's just what has happened, and there's even a few not immediately dismissible pics to back it up. Of course, the ad in question is now seemingly nowhere to be found, but it supposedly did once point to some movie and TV show listings broken down by genre, and even to the individual, non-working titles that would apparently be available. Head on past the break for a glimpse of the ad itself, and feel free to let us know if you happened to see it yourself.

You might recall that this happened right about this time last year when we were all patiently waiting for the iPhone 3G to be announced, and once again, it's been discovered that the latest beta of the iPhone SDK has icons for an unreleased version of Cupertino's finest. We've been able to verify that two icons tucked away in a deep folder refer to black and white versions of the "iPhone2,1" (black is pictured above), which is one of the internal model codes we've been hearing get thrown around for a while now. Thing is, the icon is identical to the one being used for iPhone1,2 -- better known as the iPhone 3G -- so Apple's either smartly using a placeholder until the final SDK build, or the latest and greatest model is a dead ringer for the old. We're betting on the former.

Well, what do you know? It looks like our favorite fingerpainter is really making a name for himself with his handset artwork. Like his other New York City-scapes, Jorge Colombo's cover for the June 1, 2009 issue of The New Yorker was composed entirely in the Brushes iPhone app. And it looks like the artist's switch to a digital format is no gimmick -- he tells The New York Times that the device allows him to work "without having to carry all my pens and brushes and notepads with me." And he can work in anonymity -- to complete the cover he spent about an hour on 42nd Street, with no interruptions (try doing that with a canvas, an easel, and a full compliment of art supplies). Mr. Colombo, if you're out there: we'd like to add you to our Mafia Wars family. Drop us an email.

Seems the 32 GB iPhone is accidentally appearing on a lot of carrier websites this week. First T-Mobile Austria and now on AT&T.
On the site for AT&T's Blackberry Bold upgrade program (exchange current cell phone for credit towards a new blackberry) a 32 GB iPhone was listed as an option. Just more reinforcement that a 32 GB iPhone is on its way for the summer.
Interestingly the site listed upgrade values for iPhones. The 32 GB iPhone is listed as $335 in value and the 16 GB is listed as $205 in value. While trade-in value doesn't directly tell us how much new iPhone models will be selling for we might infer that the 32 GB will be $400 and the 16 GB will be $300.

Palm Pre secrets? That's very quickly becoming a thing of the past. After getting some pretty good shots of webOS last week, the "invisible man" from PalmPreForum.org has uploaded an absolute ton of videos -- fifteen in all, at last count -- showcasing the interface from a leaked emulator given out to early developers (available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, in case you were wondering). Browser, tasks, memos, YouTube, Google Maps, backup, settings, copy and paste -- frankly, we're still wrapping our heads around all of them, and while it's a shame we can't see any multitouch gesture since he's limited to a mouseclick, we're not gonna be choosy here. Clear your afternoon schedule and check out the video playlist we've embedded after the break -- and not to worry, the audio clears up right around the 9th video.

May 25th, 2009, 00:08 Posted By: wraggster
AT&T's been extraordinarily coy about its Android plans, right up through our interview with Mobility CEO Ralph de la Vega back in February -- but rest assured, the carrier does plan to get in the game, and it might just beat a number of T-Mobile's planned launches to market. Meet the HTC Lancaster, which kinda looks like a Magic when closed -- but open, it takes on more of a traditional Touch Pro-ish form factor for a QWERTY slider than the G1 / Dream. It's got triband EDGE and 850 / 1900MHz HSPA, AGPS, a 3 megapixel fixed-focus camera, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD expansion, and a "unique HTC social messaging user interface" that we'd assume takes cues from that Hero stuff we've been seeing recently. It's lined up for a full six months of AT&T exclusivity and -- according to our materials, anyway -- has a target availability date of August 3, meaning we could see this pretty shortly. Unfortunately, there's a note here that "Initial Lab Entry dates were based on Google Mobile Services (GMS) UI, AT&T standard UI has been requested, which puts schedule in question." In other words, AT&T wants its fingerprints all over the interface, which risks pushing out the launch -- and that's a double whammy of suck. Follow the break for a larger shot of the phone!
