Books.app is a simple eBook reader for the iPhone. It reads HTML and text files stored in your Media/EBooks folder, and is smart enough to enter subdirectories, if, for instance, you've broken a book down by chapters.
Changes:
Bug fixes! Books.app is now completely bug-free, and all features requested by users have been implemented. In addition, world peace has been achieved, Apple has announced that it's open-sourcing the iPhone, and my children got A's on their last report cards. Well, okay, that last one was an exaggeration.

iFlickr is a native application for iPhone's to access and use the service "Flickr".
Changes:
Tagging.
Auto rotation of photos on flickr.
Improved performance over EDGE. Now you can take a few pictures and minimize the application. It takes its time to upload over EDGE, and updates the number of pictures it is processing over the iflickr icon (The application now runs in background, and exits when it is finished uploading all the pictures)

If you are sure to have the v1.02 iPhone Firmware on your baby, then you can UNLOCK it easily without hardware modification. Just follow the instruction on the linked page. Of course everything at your own personal risk.
The software itself is LEGAL and considering that there are no commercial iPhone games yet, it will just enable you to try out homebrew stuff. We believe there is no economical damage at this time of posting.

A new homebrew game has been out for a week but we missed the releases and has since been updated a few times. 5dice is an iPhone version of the classic dice game Yahtzee.
Think Yahtzee! Fun, and easy to play. Great game for killing a time since it will hold your place. Play whenever you wnat. The iPhone is a great platform for a native version of this game. Enjoy! Have Fun!
The main playable game is more or less complete. Still tweaking a few things here and there, but it is a great way to enjoy a few moments on your iPhone.
What's New
.2.8b Modified some scoring behavior for the first yahtzee. Also tweaked some new game and game over behaviors.
.2.6b Fixed Yahtzee bonus persistence problem.
.2.5b Added score card animation. Fixed small bug with the turn counter. In some cases you couldn't play your last turn. :-(
.2b Game persistence. Suspend the game, and return where you left off. Remember folks, this is beta software. Seems to be working well in my testing. Nice to be able to return to your regularly scheduled fun right where you were. New icon. I thought this looked a little cleaner. At least on my SpringBoard. Some other minor tweaks.
Visit the homepage at http://code.google.com/p/5dice/ for more information and the downloads.

Tap Tap Revolution is an iPhone game in the style of Dance Dance Revolution, but you wouldn't want to stamp on your iPhone so instead you must tap the screen
Two days' work and my game is finally releasable. Download songs from my online collection (contact me to get your own music on there) and tap to the beat when the lights hit the bottom line.
TTR has an online update feature (under "New Tracks") where new tracks will be added (by indie artists). You can download and play them over your Wi-fi connection (downloading not recommended over EDGE but it will work).

Lights Off is a fun and highly addictive puzzle game made even better with iPhone's touch screen, created by Lucas Newman and Adam Betts.
The objective is to switch all of the lights out. Tapping a light toggles it, along with the four adjacent lights. Once you switch all of the lights out, you'll advance to the next level!
Changes:
All puzzles should now be solvable.
The state of the buttons is now saved when Lights Off is quit.
Button presses can now be cancelled by dragging your finger off the button before letting go.

Nervegas has released a new version of his Nes Emulator for the iPhone:
NES.app uses the popular InfoNES emulation core to mimic the 6502 processor in a Nintendo Entertainment System, allowing you to play ROM dumps of games designed for the NES console. ROM dumps are files containing the dumped instruction code from a physical cartridge. In many cases, you are legally entitled to posess a ROM dump of any game that you presently own. ROM images for NES are widely available online, or with the appropriate hardware, you can dump them yourself directly from the cartridge.
NES.app started as a fork based on the same original code as iPhoneNES, but has been completely rewritten to run very fast, and with many additional features such as sound, game genie, saved games, and full screen support.
1.2.0 [nervegas] More PPU fixes; made these games work:
GI Joe
Rolling Thunder
Round Ball
Spy Hunter
... more ?
Got rid of flickering in Zelda 2
Final Fantasy 1/2 appear to also work, but not sure
when that happened

CURRENT STATUS:
Eh, I'm just gonna wait until the latest toolchain issues are sorted out before working on this anymore. It's too much of a hassle to keep up with at the moment. I may even have to hand this project off to someone else as there is a small chance I may go off to work for a certain fruit company in the near future.

Shocking, we know. As if the price drops on the PlayStation 3 weren't evidence enough that we all like our gizmos a bit cheaper, a new report from Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster claims that iPhone sales skyrocketed shortly after the (hotly contested) price drops. According to his math, Apple needed to sell some 136,000 iPhones between September 5th (the day of the cuts) and September 9th (the day Apple claimed to have sold one million of its mobiles), which meant that 27,000 iPhones per day were getting unboxed in the five-day period. Comparatively, Munster approximated that Cupertino was unloading around 9,000 iPhones per day prior to the price cuts. 'Course, even Gene doubts that the recent sales surge will be able to hold steady, but we'd say the slashings have already had their desired effect.

Another great freeware port to UIQ3 from AnotherGuest: Amoebax is a cute and addictive Tetris-like action-puzzle game. Due an awful mutation, some amoeba's species have started to multiply until they take the world if you can't stop them. Fortunately the mutation made then too unstable and lining up four or more will make them disappear.

It's really an ethical dilemma for the ages. On one hand, you love your shiny new Apple toy so much, you just have to hack in new functionality, on the other hand you can't bear to think that the mighty Steve Jobs thinks ill of you and your hacker ways. Well now you can finally put those fears to rest, because Apple's Greg Joswiak has officially confirmed a "neutral" stance on the iPhone hacking issue. That is to say, Apple doesn't plan to maliciously attempt to break native, third-party applications in forthcoming firmware updates, but at the same time Apple won't go out of its way to ensure those updates don't break third-party applications accidentally, and certainly isn't offering support to the hackers of any kind. We'd say it's a step above "frenemy," but not quite to the point where Steve'll be demoing Jailbreak at his next keynote.

Now that iPhoneSIMfree is in the wild, the iPhone Dev Team folks that started all this hackery have been looking to see how the iPhoneSIMfree hack works, and seem to have landed upon the solution. Apparently the thrust of what the iPhoneSIMfree folks figured out was that it's possible to write / flash to the baseband of the iPhone -- the chip that controls the main voice and system functions of the phone. Apparently Geohot resorted to his hardware hack because it was believed this couldn't be done. Now that the Dev Team people have observed this flashing in action, they've launched into writing their very own unlocker using the same method, which will naturally be released free of charge as soon as it's ready. All signs point to the free, standalone unlocker being ready soon. On a slightly shadier note, there seems to be a parallel effort to emulate the iPhoneSIMfree server that does the unlocking magic for those currently willing to pay for the privilege. If it's to be believed, the fake server (and free network unlocking) should be ready to go in a matter of hours.
