Thanks to Zibri, we've just released verion 0.5.4, which has compatibility with 1.1.4 and the 8GB iPod touch. It doesn't yet install the App Pack, that will come when other touches are supported (which will hopefully be soon). You can download it at our Google Code page. Please note that this new version of iJailBreak will downgrade your bootloader to 3.9 from 4.6.
Tiger should now be supported in this release, however that has not been tested. If you have had a good experience using Tiger, please contact us
UPDATE: You can be running 1.1.4 to use iJailBreak 0.5.4!

News/release from the ScummVM Site:
ScummVM continues to leap forward in a leap year, and we are pleased to announce the next shiny bugfix release of the project.
As usual, it holds a number of improvements, it's more stable, and it should bring you even more fun than 0.11.0.
We fixed the digital iMUSE system (better COMI experience), King's Quest 4 bugs were squashed, and support for fanmade AGI games has been improved; Lure of the Temptress, Inherit the Earth and I Have no Mouth all work better since we fixed several crashes, lock-ups and all such buzzwords.
As a special bonus we are glad to announce the return of the BeOS port and the deeply missed Playstation 2 port.
ScummVM is a program which allows you to run certain classic graphical point-and-click adventure games, provided you already have their data files. The clever part about this: ScummVM just replaces the executables shipped with the games, allowing you to play them on systems for which they were never designed!
Some of the adventures ScummVM supports include Adventure Soft's Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2; Revolution's Beneath A Steel Sky, Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; Wyrmkeep's Inherit the Earth; Coktel Vision's Gobliiins; Westwood Studios' The Legend of Kyrandia and games based on LucasArts' SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system such as Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more.
Heres whats new:
Ports:
- Revived the PS2 port.
- Revived the BeOS port.
SCUMM:
- Improvements for Digital iMUSE subsystem. This fixes several glitches in The Curse of Monkey Island.
- Fixes for cursors in HE games.
AGI:
- Fix for zombies in King's Quest 4.
- Fix for changing palettes in fanmade games using AGIPAL.
Lure:
- Fixed some conversation crashes in the German version.
- Fixed operation of the optional copy protection dialog in the German version.
- Added saving of conversation flags as to whether a particular conversation option had been previously selected or not.
- Fixed glitch that could cause transformation sparkle to happen a second time.
- Fixed behavior of Goewin when you rejoin her after meeting the dragon.
SAGA:
- Fix for rat maze bug in Inherit the Earth which made game not completable.
- Fixes for Inherit the Earth and I Have no Mouth game startup on a number of platforms.
- Reduced the number of simultaneous open files in I Have no Mouth, to allow it to run on platforms that can keep a limited amount of files open (e.g. on the PSP).
- Fixed graphics glitch in Inherit the Earth with simultaneous speech.
- Fixed palette glitch in Inherit the Earth when looking at the map while at the docks.

It's only fair to ask Nokia whether Sony's rumoured PlayStation phone is a threat to N-Gage, and Nokia games boss Jaakko Kaidesoja dealt with the issue head-on today, at an N-Gage press event in Lapland.
"I'm not scared about anybody," he said. "The real question is how do they [Sony Ericsson] do it? Can they create a link between the PSP games and a phone? Can they do the multiplayer and online stuff? We've been doing this for two years and it hasn't been easy."
In a candid briefing, Kaidesoja also addessed the issue of the N-Gage First Access being hacked to work on other handsets. You might think Nokia would be unhappy about it, but you'd be wrong.
"We knew people would crack it," says Kaidesoja. "Cracking a sisx file isn't that hard, so of course we expected it. And it's good to get feedback on the First Access application even from people with other handsets."
The UK is one of the top two or three countries in terms of people downloading the First Access application, apparently. Good work, fellow Brits!
As we reported last week, the full commercial launch of N-Gage is still set for the coming weeks. Kaidesoja says there'll be 6-8 games at launch, meaning there'll hopefully be two additional titles to the six already released for First Access.
That's if they make it through Nokia's certification process in time, though: "It may be that we launch with six titles, and then two more come the week after, and two more the week after that," he says.
The N82 and both N95 handsets will be next in line for the commercial launch, but bad news N73 owners: you're going to have to wait a while.
"We promised the N73 earlier, but we found some memory issues, as it has a lower memory spec than other devices," says Kaidesoja. "That gives some headaches, but we'll deal with that, and will release for the device during the second quarter."
Kaidesoja addressed head-on the issue of whether the launch titles from third-party publishers are ambitious enough – Tetris, Block Breaker Deluxe and World Series of Poker: Pro Challenge are hardly making the most of the platform, for all their charms.
"Whenever you have a new platform, you don't fully show its qualities," he says. "When you look at the EA stuff and Block Breaker Deluxe, it's not fully exploiting the SDK and all the capabilities it has to offer. But we are developing the SDK all the time, and during the second quarter we will see more innovative stuff."
So, will there be a dedicated N-Gage games handset? "There are no plans to release, but no plans not to release," said Kaidesoja, hedging his bets expertly.
"Broadening the device base is an obvious choice. We have tried with the N81 to have some ergonomics for gaming, and I don't think we are perfect yet. We haven't ruled it out, but we are not planning it either."
However, Nokia is working on making N-Gage games work with touchscreen handsets – Nokia will release several this year.
"We are working with the application to make it adaptable for the touchscreen environment," said Kaidesoja.
"There will need to be games that support touchscreens. They won't necessarily be there on day one [when the touchscreen handsets launch], since you have to have nine months development time, and it has to be in the SDK. But we will get there."

While tilt-sensitive cell phone gaming is apparently nothing new in Japan, domestic developers/hackers have been slow to create games that take advantage of the iPhone's built-in accelerometer. Enter Trism, a simple, match-three puzzle game from semi-pro developer Demifroce that twists things around by changing the way blocks fall as you twist things around.
A GameSetWatch interview with the developer reveals more of the story behind the game's ten-day development, and includes an excellent video (embedded below) of the game in action. Unfortunately, the forthcoming demo version will only work on jailbroken phones, but the developer says he'd love to sell the game on iTunes once the official iPhone SDK is unveiled. Apple, are you listening?

If you happen to own an iPhone, and you happen to have updated to the 1.1.4 firmware, you can now easily jailbreak, activate, and unlock your phone with a couple of simple solutions. As you may have heard, iNdependence 1.4 beta 5 is out, which will do all sorts of non-Apple approved things to your device from OS X, though if you're looking for the ultimate cross-platform solution, you probably can't do better than the latest version Zibri's all-in-one package, Ziphone 2.5. Both apps make it about a million times easier than this was a few weeks ago, though we've seen video of a new solution -- jailbreaking directly from iTunes -- that could make this process even simpler (though considerably more illegal).

It was only a matter of time till the serious iPhone SDK rumors started flying, and with Apple's Town Hall event next Thursday, it's possible some of what we're hearing is right on. If that's the case, prepare to be letdown in a major way.
According to iLounge, Apple will be severely restricting access on software for the iPhone and iPod touch, only allowing apps to be downloaded through iTunes, hand-picking which applications will make it to the store, and cutting off developer's access to accessories which interface with the dock connector.
Of course, this is just about what we expected from Steve, since he's already lauded Nokia for its S60 verification scheme. Additionally, the report claims that the SDK we see next week will be an incomplete beta, with the full version rolling out in June to coincide with the WWDC.
Thinking of any good reasons to keep jailbreaking your phone? Yeah, us too.

via BusinessWeek
t's been nearly four years since Japanese video game maker Konami (KNM) first established its mobile division, re-releasing Frogger as its maiden cell-phone-compatible title. Oh, how far things have come since. The company has just taken the wraps off Metal Gear Solid Mobile, in effect proving that mobile gaming need not be a dumping ground for long-forgotten arcade games from the '80s, with their crude graphics intact.
Instead, Metal Gear Solid Mobile is a graphically rich stealth-action game that manages to more or less recreate the experience of the popular console franchise—yes, even on a phone. It's an impressive technical feat that shows how quickly mobile titles are becoming more sophisticated. Konami took a year to develop this game. By comparison, the team behind the company's mobile version of Contra 4, another so-called triple-A title, took about half the time.
The goal, of course, is to entice wireless users to spend more than a few bucks for mobile games. Indeed, Metal Gear Solid Mobile will cost either $3.99 a month or $9.99 to buy outright through Verizon Wireless, which will have exclusive rights to the title for three months before it becomes available through other networks. Konami says the game is compatible with about 30 handset models in Verizon's lineup.
Secret Agent Snake
Players take on the role of Snake, a secret agent adept at world-saving espionage. Whereas other first-person shooters place an emphasis on "run and gun" game play that highlights twitchy hair-trigger action, both the console and mobile versions of Metal Gear focus on sneaking around to quietly kill or knock out enemies.
Ironically, this kind of stealth play is much better suited to cell phones, which lack the multidirectional joysticks used with console and PC games to maneuver an avatar at a rapid pace. In other words, the slow, drawn-out movements of the main character in this game are easily controlled with a phone's keypad, which, depending on the model you're using, may not always be ergonomically accommodating.
The graphics, meanwhile, are impressive. In fact, the visuals are probably the most innovative element of the game, producing 3D images that come startlingly close to PlayStation 2 quality. I played the game on LG's (LGERF) VX9400 phone, which has a screen that rotates 90 degrees to reorient as a wide-screen view. This game is so good-looking, I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes an advertising vehicle for handset-makers later this year.
Great Design, Weak Story
A bevy of smartly designed features make this feel much more like a full-blown console title than the typical games that come either preloaded on a phone or that you can download for a few bucks. For instance there's an automatic targeting lock and an optional first-person perspective that allows you to see through a character's eyes. Nice touches like these make playing on a phone surprisingly enjoyable. It's even possible to use a phone's built-in camera (on supported models) to snap pictures of colors around you and use them as camouflage. It's a gimmick, yes, but a fun one that nicely dovetails with the whole "mysterious secret agent with lots of gadgets" theme.
Longtime Metal Gear fans, however, will find the game's narrative its weakest point. Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima has earned demigod status among hard-core gamers for the high-polish, cinematic storytelling in his titles. He's well-known for spinning complex yarns, usually via longish scenes that manage to work in everything from existential philosophy to post-structural semiotic analysis.
But on the phone, the intellectual landscape isn't quite so fertile. To accommodate shorter play sessions—on the bus or subway for instance—the game's story unfolds at an accelerated clip, largely through short dialogue sequences between the main character and the supporting characters.
Yet despite the simpler missions with fewer objectives, Metal Gear Solid Mobile manages to maintain the mood and aesthetic of the series even with abbreviated content. While it certainly won't replace the console experience or match its depth, all in all, the end product is an impressive—and fun—new benchmark for mobile gaming.

Although we'd been hearing that Apple had slowed down iPhone production, the company is still on track to hit its goal of selling 10m units this year, according to COO Tim Cook. Cook, speaking at a Goldman Sachs investor's conference in Vegas, also said that "Apple is not married to the single, exclusive-carrier model," and that Apple is open to new ways of selling the iPhone. That's an interesting change in tone from the usual "we need carrier relationships to make things like Visual Voicemail work" lines we've heard, but it's not necessarily out of the blue -- we're tempted to say Apple's relatively hands-off approach to unlockers and jailbreakers is actually a direct result of that attitude. Of course, that doesn't mean anything's going to change in the States soon, since AT&T has that five-year exclusive deal, but it could mean interesting things are in store elsewhere.

Phew, we were starting to worry we'd get through the week without someone suing Apple. This time it's a patent lawsuit by a Massachusetts man named Romek Figa, who claims to have patented a caller ID system infringed by the iPhone. Figa's patent, which was granted in 1990 and references two-line LCD screens and external caller ID equipment, describes a way to associate incoming numbers with stored contact names, and he's looking to halt sales of the iPhone and have Apple pony up some hefty damages and license his patent, which the company has thus far declined to do. We wonder why. We also wonder why Figa hasn't sued Nokia, Microsoft, HTC, Samsung, LG, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson, since, you know, all those companies make phones with caller ID as well, but maybe that's coming next -- he could probably end up simply owning Moto's flailing phone division, if his lawyers play their cards right.
Update: According to statements by Figa's attorneys this morning, Moto, Nokia, and Samsung have already licensed the patent, but Apple "refused to take a license on the terms offered." Interesting -- but they also said Figa sent his demand letter directly to Steve Jobs, which seems like the least efficient way possible of handling this deal.

We got wind of this in the early AM, but now it's official: O2 is picking up the iPhone in Ireland, selling the 8 gigger for €399, and the 16GB for €499. Tariffs range from €45 for 175 minutes to €100 for 700 minutes, and all plans include 1GB of data. It sounds like quite the scam compared to O2's iPhone plans in the UK, but we're going to just chalk it up to cultural differences not explored in Colin Farrell's latest masterpiece, "In Bruges."
Update: Some tipsters have pointed out that O2 Ireland makes no mention of Visual Voicemail on its iPhone pages, which is odd considering the fact that O2 UK highlights the feature. It could be a oversight, or it could mean that those unsightly tariffs are, in fact, true highway robbery.
