Apple wasn't just loving on gamers and enterprise types with its app announcements today. Other hot softwares to get the iPhone treatment include AIM, Epocrates and Touch FX. It probably wouldn't be much of a stretch to call AIM the most requested app for the iPhone, and while we would've liked to see it included out of the box, it's better late than never, right?

Apple finally let us know how we're going to grab all those snazzy new SDK-developed apps: App Store. The application will run right on your iPhone or iPod touch (it's going to be included in the next firmware update) and lets you choose your apps and download them straight to the device. Unfortunately this will be the "exclusive way" to get new apps, which might not sit well with the "free, as in free speech" crowd. Developers get a 70% cut of revenue, while apple takes 30% for store "upkeep." You can also sideload applications you've purchased in iTunes, and updates can be pushed automatically to your app by developers.

nombCrypt is an encryption program originally made for desktop PC's but then the author decided to port it over for portable devices. It uses a password you provide and encrypts either a block of text or files using 256bit Rijndael (AES). This level of encryption was given the ok to encrypt Top Secret documents. It can of course decrypt as well. This is for Windows Mobile 6. Please enjoy and every developer of course likes to get back feedback.

Perpetual by Mollusk is a simple image zooming demo. You can zoom on any of the 200 images, and the pixels will turn into other images to zoom, perpetually.
Changes:
- Fixed image bug when you have more than 256 images (that was stupid)
- Fixed potential crash when moving around too much
- PerpetualMaker updated, smaller exe
- Improved performance
- Uses only half as much ram now
- New image viewer to select start image
- Now over 300 images !
- New Image Pack maker : just put in any directory, and it'll take all the images from images/ (still requires 240x240 jpeg images) and do a pack (.prp file)
- New splash screen, with possibility to select pack to display !
- Speed button : x0.5, 1, or 2
- Auto button for lazy people
- Surface button to come back to the unzoomed image

colloQ is an improved IRC client for the iPhone, based upon mColloquy.

After a hiatus from coding, I recently got back to it and fixed the extended ASCII characters bug! This fix is so important that I decided not to spend time with any more fixes or enhancements and release it right away. iBlackjack seems to reach v1.0 soon.
Notes:
Thanks to everyone for testing out the early versions of iBlackjack. Your insightful feedback, encouragement and generosity has helped me create a great game. Since all efforts are now focused on making iBlackjack a great commercial game developed under the official iPhone SDK, we had to deactivate the old unsupported versions.
By now I was hoping to know more about when the final version of the game would be available. We originally planned to get it out ASAP in March, but are at the mercy of Apple and their SDK timelines. Since we wont know details of that until late next week, I will have to provide updated details and a date at a later date.
For the past two months I have spent all my time working on improving iBlackjack. Lots of effort has gone into creating a great new polished game. A game that really reflects well of the iPhone/iPod Touch platform. I think it looks great now and I can't wait to get it into everyone's hands ASAP. A new version of iDialer is out.
Release notes:
Attached is iDialer v3.0 for manual installation and testing.
Just copy the files into your existing /Applications/iDialer.app folder from a previous install.
Changes:
1. Loads ten times faster - handles 1000 contacts ok.
2. Ignores missing/blank numbers
3. Option to ignore Fax #s
4. Compatible with 1.1.3 (and probably 1.1.4)
5. Marks FAX #s with F: in display
6. No longer filters out duplicate phone #s - shows all matching names
7. Smarter font sizing for long names

Super Pong is a fun and very quick block-blasting pong game. You can move the paddle by either tilting the iPhone left and right, or by dragging your finger along the bottom of the screen. The game can be paused by tapping the screen and from there, you can access the settings.
Currently, there are ten levels and three difficulties, which range from fairly easy to incredibly fast and nearly impossible on the harder levels. I like developing games that are fun for all skill levels, so rest assured - it's a good challenge.

This is an implementation of Mahjong solitaire for the iPod touch and iPhone. The aim of the game is to pick matching tiles, removing them from the board. You win when there are no tiles left. You lose when it is impossible to pick up any more tiles. If the application crashes, it counts as a draw. You can only pick up tiles that are not overlapped by another, and can be freely moved either left or right. You probably already know how to play. This is released as Free (as in Freedom) software, under the terms of the GNU GPL Version 2. Graphic design by Sarah Gleeson.
