Electronic Arts has answered the call for more games on Google's Android mobile device platform – i.e. the T-Mobile G1 – with a version of Tetris now available for download from the EA Mobile site. The game is selling for $7.99. It will be followed next month by Bejeweled and Monopoly: Here & Now Edition.
In an official release, EA Mobile America and Asia publishing veep Adam Sussman calls Android an "exciting new platform" and says that the division has "more games in development" beyond the three revealed today. Looking at its catalog of iPhone / iPod Touch games, it's probably safe to expect some variation of Spore and Scrabble to be in the bunch.

This is a simple small program, that can organize, so called delivery reports, automatically, after a selected time. If you use the SMS message option: Request delivery notification, it gives you a special SMS report message when your sent message was delivered and you probably quickly notice, you have to delete all these reports manually. It will soon become quite tedious, if you send many messages daily

A couple more features have been revealed in addition to google street view in the latest firmware 2.2 beta.
It has all become clear. Apples rejected the awesome app Podcaster under the premise that "... Podcaster assists in the distribution of podcasts, it duplicates the functionality of the Podcast section of iTunes," forcing Podcaster distribution via Cydia instead of the AppStore. Turns out that might not be the full story.

In the past various companies have claimed to be developing a GPS module to plug into the bottom of your 1st generation iPhone. Finally after all the wait Orange Gadgets is preparing to release the first GPS plug-in for the first gen iPhone.
Included with the GPS module is a 6ft USB-A to micro USB-B cable for on-the-go or at home charging. With this cable you will be able to charge your iPhone or iPod touch while the module is plugged into your handheld device. A suitable USB car charger, USB wall charger or USB desktop/laptop port is required for this functionality (not included). The cable and the GPS device come together for the price of $75 + shipping.
It appears the GPS module will communicate with a 3rd party app along with google maps if the images on their site are any indication. It is currently not clear whether or not you need to have a jailbroken phone to use the GPS module

As we mentioned yesterday, the Android Market is now open for developers to upload their applications. I'm pretty excited because Market, along with the availability of the first Android-powered phone and the Android 1.0 SDK, puts the basic pieces of the Android platform into place for developers to create and distribute their apps.
To help developers better understand what's available to them, we've collected stories from some Android application developers. In the videos, you'll hear them talk about how they built their apps, their takes on the Android platform, and also some tips they want to share with other developers. I think they have a lot of insight to share about Android application development, so I hope you'll find these videos useful.

Apple did a passable job with the iPhone UI. But let's face it: We need some tough love nostalgia injected into the overly polished device. Luckily for us, there's the iGameboy theme for the iPhone. At last, we'll be able to cover the universally stylish black background with the trademark B12 vitamin-pee green backdrop of our first beloved handheld gaming system. Available in button and buttonless versions, the skin is free, but you'll have to jailbreak that iPhone first.

Over the weekend we learned that the iPhone firmware 2.2 beta was going out to developers sans copy/paste (again). Apple claims that it is not a top priority but, to be honest, I'm beginning to think that it will never happen. Nonetheless, AT&T released a survey to customers in an attempt to determine what the level of demand was for the most bitched about missing iPhone features. Out of curiosity, I have replicated the survey responses in the poll after the break. Which missing feature is on the top of your must-have list?
Which Missing iPhone Feature Would You Like to See Most?
Picture messaging
iChat
Landscape mode For email
Ability to use the iPhone 3G with other service providers (not just AT&T)
Downloadable ringtones
User-replacable battery
More storage
Search function with contacts
Ability to edit documents
Flash/Java
Cut and paste
GPS turn-by-turn directions
Video recording

Well, this is asinine. Since the Android Market won't support paid apps until next year, asshat developers are disguising links to paid apps as free ones. When you click on the "free" applications, it takes you to the devs' site, where you get to pay a lovely fee for it. Concrete's Fast Food Calorie Calculator is one example of this scumsuckery. Look, it's cool to charge for apps, as long as you're upfront about it, not being sleazy and sludging up the store with dirty tricks. I know they're not blocking apps from the store, but I hope Concrete and others are tossed on their ass and banned for life. Update: Mobihand just hosted the app, the actual asshole is Concrete.

China will be getting its own version of an Android device in the first quarter of 2009, but rather than going with HTC's G1 handset, China Mobile is opting for a Lenovo Mobile version of the Google phone instead. Details on the Lenovo Android are scarce, but considering the G1's already available through less-than-legal channels in the country, it'll be interesting to see how it fares. Though the black market version costs a pretty ridiculous $550 right now, it's possible that unauthorized resellers are keeping the price high until other Android sets hit the streets

We've been griping about the limitations of the existing wireless Sonos controller for just about as long as Sonos has been pumping them out -- not that it's a horrible chunk of hardware, just that we love to gripe, and the lack of good text input is extremely limiting in these modern times of limitless content to surf through. Well, the problem's been solved, at least for iPhone and iPod touch users, and in typical Sonos fashion the solution's free. Starting today Sonos will be offering a free Sonos Controller app on Apple's App Store, which can handle just about every function the existing controller can, with the additional convenience of a touch interface and an on-screen keyboard. Multi-room control, Napster and Rhapsody, your own music library -- it's all here, thanks to the magic of WiFi. Sonos even saw it fit to pack a general software update (Sonos Software 2.7) which includes fifteen thousand internet radio stations and Last.fm integration. The primary limitation to iPhone control is the fact that you're relying on your home's WiFi instead of that schmancy mesh network Sonos products employ, but that's a small price to pay for usability. Check out our highly enthralling hands-on shots below, and then peep the read link for more info and video, which should be live by the time you read this. The app should go live sometime today.

Microsoft has positioned Windows Mobile quite nicely in the enterprise but it seems these days that the buzz is in the consumer space. Apple's recent revelations that they've sold 6.8 million iPhone 3Gs in a quarter and the release of the first Android phone have moved the attention squarely into the consumer space. In a recent interview by Techradar the business lead for Microsoft Windows in the UK, John Curran, stated that Microsoft isn't worried about either competitor http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-...-threat-477958

Thanks to a f*****g stupid error, the iTunes Music Store in the UK has accidentally censored thousands of songs, albums, and artists' names. Innocent songs—like Danny Kaye's "I Thought I Saw A P***y Cat"—and not-so-innocent ones—like Nirvana's "Smells Like T**n Spirit"—have been asterisked by what an Apple spokeswoman has described as a "database glitch". Why "teen", "hot" or "Johnny" can be considered offensive, I really don't have a flying f**k, but things look rather silly in there

Apple-obsessed financial analyst Charlie Wolf said today in a research note that Apple could cut the price of the 8GB iPhone to $99. Why? Apparently, just because they can. At least, based on his guesstimations on the iPhone margins and costs, and we can only guess, his famed telepathic powers, animal entrails reading abilities, and the shiny 8-ball he has hidden in the bottom drawer of his work desk.

"You have a Windows Mobile 6.1-based device that is configured to use a POP3 e-mail account or an IMAP e-mail account. On this device, you experience the following symptoms:.
You unexpectedly lose the ability to send e-mail messages
E-mail messages remain in the Outbox folder after you synchronize the e-mail account.
You may receive the following error message when you try to send an e-mail message:
The message cannot be sent
Even though you lose the ability to send e-mail messages, you continue to receive incoming e-mail messages."
What I find interesting, and frustrating, is this is because Microsoft has given yet more control to the carrier. As you read the rest of the KB article, you get to this paragraph:
"This behavior is associated with a feature that is introduced in Windows Mobile 6.1. The feature allows for mobile operators to specify an alternate SMTP server name that is used if e-mail messages cannot be sent by using the user-specified SMTP server name. If the mobile operator does not specify an alternate SMTP server name and if the Windows Mobile 6.1-based device does not connect, the e-mail account is corrupted and cannot send e-mail messages."
