Jet Set GamesTM today announced that HighbornTM, the critically and commercially successful turn-based strategy game, is now available with high-resolution artwork as Highborn HD on the iPad for an introductory price of $2.99.
Highborn HD, now live on the iTunes App Store at http://itunes.com/app/HighbornHD features re-designed maps with enhanced, high-resolution graphics.
âHighborn HD on the iPad really showcases the hand-drawn maps and the higher-resolution artwork weâve been working hard on over the past few months,â said Rade Stojsavljevic, president of Jet Set Games. âItâs gorgeous, and well worth the price, even if youâve already purchased the iPhone version. Especially now that the OpenFeint integration allows for multiplayer gaming against all iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch Highborn gamers.â
In Highborn, players are treated to two strategy games that combine to offer an intelligent, tactical experience without the frenetic play of a traditional RTS. Players move forces around an overhead map to secure spells and combat support, then dive into 3D combat to deploy those advantages against an unsuspecting enemy. All the fun and fighting is set against an irreverent tale, filled with wacky heroes, witty dialogue and wild assumptions.
Features:
A Light Touch â Highborn is a casual mobile strategy game that offers a satisfying experience for players, no matter if they spend minutes or hours in the game.
Time for a New Strategy â Highborn features a unique blend of strategic movement and 3D combat that caters to a variety of gameplay styles and offers a great deal of replayability.
Multiplay at Your Pace â Turn-based gaming enables players to think, then act, in round-based play via OpenFeintâs 30-million-person community. Players can have multiple games going at once, and can trash-talk their opponents in player-to-player chat.
Many Styles of Play â Players unlock hero characters as they progress through the game, giving them access to different abilities and play styles, along with different strategies to use against their opponents.
Achieve Greatness â More than 20 single- and multiplayer achievements to unlock, including judicious use of turns, using units as bait, and making it through an entire mission without capturing support structures.

Bulkypix, award winning iPhone and iPad games publisher today announced that following the successful launch of Snake Galaxy on the iPhone, the game has been ported to iPad and will be available on August the 4th, on the App Store.
Snake Galaxy is a three dimensional version of the classic Snake game, that has players slithering around beautifully rendered 3D planets. Your goal is simpleâconsume as many jewels as possible before you crash and burn. You direct the snake with your finger, guiding it toward the goodies while avoiding obstacles like giant letters, like on the gorgeous newspaper planet. With each jewel you consume, your âsnakeâ grows a little longer, making it harder for you to avoid obstaclesâand your tail.
There are point thresholds you must reach to unlock the next planet. In order to reach those point thresholds, you must eat the goodies in your path as fast as you can. There is a multiplier bar at the bottom of the screen that refills every time you feed your snake. But you must be careful not to let the bar zeroes out. If it does, you will have to start the multiplier chain all over from scratch. There are large diamonds that appear from time to time that are worth big points. Grabbing these before they vanish is critical for making it to the next stage.
The iPad makes the movement in the game feel natural and the controls make the game play beautifully accurate; you will salivate at the 3D environment of this game in motion. Snake Galaxy also features a great soundtrack, but you can listen to your own music while playing.
âThe Guinness World Records 2010 Gamer's Edition has just declared that the mobile version of Snake is the most played game on the planet,â said Vincent Dondaine, COO of Bulkypix. âSnake Galaxy for the iPad is beautiful. The design of the 3D worlds is stunning. Different planets all have different types of fun obstacles to pass by, keeping you wondering what's next. Youâll enjoy yourself for hours.â
The game will be available on the iPad for 3.99âŹ/ $4.99.

Tilt to Live is an accelerometer-based, hi-score driven shooter for the iPhone & iTouch. Its long-fabled Frostbite update was completed, approved, and unleashed for free on July 31, 2010.
A trailer with footage of the new Frostbite gametype and Burnicade pickup in action can be found here: http://www.onemanleft.com/2010/07/30...update-is-out/
In Frostbite mode, a blizzard of frozen enemies falls from the top of the play area toward a steaming hot spring below. The player is tasked with shattering through waves of these frozen dots before they can reach the hot spring and be reanimated. As you shatter enemies, earning score multipliers for killing the larger formations, the meter at the bottom of your screen steadily fills. A full meter is a happy meter, which spawns a Burnicade pickup to reward your hard work. You are given but one bubble shield to increase your shattering efficiency, so defend it well!
This update also features seven new award challenges to put your shattering skills to the test. As always, our awards and leaderboards are provided by the AGON Social Platform for iPhone games.

In 2009, Chris Paget showed the world the vulnerabilities of RFID by downloading the contents of US passports from the safety of his automobile. This year, he's doing the same for mobile phones. Demonstrating at DefCon 2010, the white hat hacker fooled 17 nearby GSM phones into believing his $1,500 kit (including a laptop and two RF antennas) was a legitimate cell phone base station, and proceeded to intercept and record audience calls. "As far as your cell phones are concerned, I'm now indistinguishable from AT&T," he told the crowd. The purpose of the demonstration was highlight a major flaw in the 2G GSM system, which directs phones to connect to the tower with the strongest signal regardless of origin -- in this case, Paget's phony tower.
The hacker did caveat that his system could only intercept outbound calls, and that caller ID could tip off the owner of a handset to what's what, but he says professional IMSI catchers used by law enforcement don't suffer from such flaws and amateur parity would only be a matter of time. "GSM is broken," Paget said, "The primary solution is to turn it off altogether." That's a tall order for a world still very dependent on the technology for mobile connectivity, but we suppose AT&T and T-Mobile could show the way. Then again, we imagine much of that same world is still using WEP and WPA1 to "secure" their WiFi.

Microsoft's Steve Ballmer has vented his frustration at the success of the iPad and said developing a Windows alternative is 'job one urgency.' 'Apple has done an interesting job of putting together a synthesis and putting a product out, and in which they've... they sold certainly more than I'd like them to sell, let me just be clear about that,' Ballmer told analysts. The Microsoft boss said the company plans to deliver a range of tablet formats in the next year, some based on Intel's next-gen Oak Trail processor. 'It is job one urgency around here. Nobody is sleeping at the switch. And so we are working with those partners, not just to deliver something, but to deliver products that people really want to go buy.'"
In Microsoft's vision, slates will run a derivative of Windows 7.

Princeton's Ed Felten has criticized the iPhone and iPad as Disneyland-like 'walled gardens' and says there's no way the iTunes App Store can 'offer the scope and variety of apps that a less controlled environment can provide.' Now there's a central marketplace where developers can sell iPhone-optimized apps without going through Apple's gatekeepers. Launched today, it's called OpenAppMkt and it's a showcase for mobile Web apps â not just the type seen back in 2007-2008, before the advent of the App Store, but also for new games and other apps developed using HTML5/CSS/JavaScript (in some cases, the same apps compiled and sold as native iPhone apps). Xconomy has a behind-the-scenes interview with OpenAppMkt's creators, who say they're not out to compete with the native App Store, but that developers deserve new ways to reach users.

According to AfterDawn, Google has given app makers the option to use a license server as DRM to ensure the user has paid for an app before they can download it. Reportedly, the Market app will communicate with a Google license server using RSA encryption. It is important to note this is only available for non-free apps (built with SDK 1.5 and later), and it was instituted to provide a better solution to the old and widely criticized copy protection scheme that was susceptible to Android app piracy (like sideloading). For better or for worse, Android's Marketplace appears to now have an optional, phone-home form of DRM."
Following news of the new licensing service, Hexage Ltd, makers of a popular Android game called Radiant, released the data they had collected on piracy of Radiant over a 10-month period beginning last October. A series of charts shows total users, paid users and the piracy rate, by region

A survey conducted by a US research firms claims iPad users are unkind and have little empathy, branding them a 'selfish elite'.
The survey, as reported by the Daily Mail, polled 20,000 people, and also claimed iPad users are "six times more likely to be wealthy, well-educated, power-hungry, over-achieving, sophisticated, unkind and non-altruistic 30-50-year-olds.
They are self-centered workaholics with an overwhelming interest in business and finance who cherish âpower and achievementâ and will not cross the street to help others."
Before the anti-Apple clan get too smug, the survey also claims those who criticise the device are âindependent geeksâ who do so to give them an "identity statement that helps them cope with their own failings."
"As a mainstream, closed-platform device whose major claim to fame is ease of use and sex appeal, the iPad is everything that they are not."

JCE (GameKiss, www.gamekiss.com) announced Tuesday that its mobile game, âAngry Honeyâ which was released to global smart phone market for the first time, seized the top rank for downloading service in the category of Top Free Apps within two days since its update after it received a warm review from major Asian markets including Korea.
Since registering with the global AppStore late June, âAngry Honeyâ of GameKiss was ranked at the top in the category of âTop Freeâ download for the entire global AppStore in 7 major Asian countries such as Singapore, Viet Nam, Malaysia and Philippine.
âAngry Honeyâ is a rhythm action game based on a storyline of domestic dispute between husband and wife, which contains mild addictiveness as well as offers soft game actions well-suited for mobile platform. The game depicts comic surroundings where an angry wife throws dish, chair and even a refrigerator while a husband responds by breaking the home appliances in order to avoid being hit. It is believed that the key element for its popularity is based on its strength to promote the feel of touching through light sound effects and irregular rhythmic feels.
World-wide users also pointed out the rhythmic, speedy and hitting feels for the strength of âAngry Honey,â saying that they started out the game just to release tensions but couldnât easily stop playing it because of its subtle addictiveness.
GameKiss plans to further invest into a new product development after successfully launching and maintaining a popularity of their first-ever AppStore game, âAngry Honey.â At the same time, their second product, âFly Gagaâ is also drawing attention whether the game could follow the feat of âAngry Honey.â
Roman Lee, PM of GameKiss, said, âOur first-ever mobile game, âAngry Honeyâ has garnered quite an attention from all around the world after ranked on the top of AppStore,â and he added, âWe plan to expand into mobile game market in full-scale based on recent experience with success as well as long-standing know-how that GameKiss possesses.â

If youâve got an iPhone or Android device that you use with a Wii remote when gaming, this quick hack will give you the third hand you need to manage all of that hardware. [Syanni85] mounted his Android phone to a Wii wheel for just a few dollars in parts. He ran across the wheel itself at the dollar store, and the phone is held in place using a universal mounting bracket. A small square pad sticks onto the back of any device and mates with a base. He cut off the unnecessary parts of the base and glued it to the back of the wheel.
If you havenât tried using a Wii remote with your phone yet, find out how to do it with iPhone or with Android.

The results of the latest study from mobile ad network BuzzCity have reinforced the old adage that everyone plays games on their phones - ninety per cent, in fact.
How many of those games are paid for is another question entirely, but the BuzzCity study - conducted among mobile users in 10 countries - certainly throws up some interesting demographics.
Although the typical gamer is male in his mid twenties, at least 29 per cent of mobile gamers are female. In many markets, female mobile gamers are on the increase â in the US and Thailand, for example, 49 per cent of gamers are female and in South Africa women make up 47 per cent of the gaming population.
The report also revealed an increasing number of mature mobile gamers. In the US 12 per cent of gamers are above 40. In South Africa and Malaysia, gamers over 40 years of age make up 19 per cent eight per cent respectively.
Also:
- Men and women prefer Action and Adventure (41%) oriented games followed by Sports & Racing (21%).
- 32% of respondents download games sporadically, while 46% download games regularly (either weekly or fortnightly).
- 40% played games daily, while 17% played throughout the day.
- 46% play to learn something new or to get the most out of their phones.
KF Lai, CEO of BuzzCity, said: "Mobile gaming has gone mainstream and thereâs a clear need to address specific demographics. Increasing mobile game traffic suggests a viable opportunity for ad supported games and advergames, particularly where branding is a key campaign objective.
"As users get more involved with the sophisticated plotlines of games, the level of consumer engagement increases, creating more branding opportunities for marketers.â
