MuscleNerd, a developer from the Dev-Team, has hinted at the possibility of PwnageTool being able to provide untethered jailbroken firmware creation for ALL future firmware updates on devices that use the A4 chip (iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G and iPad).
"Think we've figured out a way to extend PwnageTool+limera1n+ @comex hacks to untethered JBs for all future A4 firmwares " says MuscleNerd via twitter. The announcement gives a bit more confidence to jailbreakers who are afraid of being left out when future updates come, like iOS 4.2 for example. This one being a major update for the iPad users, and losing their jailbreaks could be disappointing if there was no way to jailbreak.

Jailbreak utility TinyUmbrella got a big update today. Version 4.1.9 is now available for Mac OS X, Linux and Windows. TinyUmbrella is a staple tool in the Jailbreak community. With the ability to save SHSH blobs, TinyUmbrella allows jailbreakers the ability to downgrade to a previous iOS version if necessary. This can be useful when users want to jailbreak their iOS devices, but have upgraded their software to an unsupported version. Users must save their SHSH blobs before upgrading to the latest iOS version, if they want to be able to downgrade later.
Currently, users looking to unlock their iPhones cannot use TinyUmbrella to do this. According to the TinyUmbrella blog:
“DO NOT USE TINYUMBRELLA in an attempt to save your baseband. It will not work. The baseband protection is for iPhone 4 *ONLY*.â€
TinyUmbrella now has a totally redesigned interface for all operating systems...

A new Dead Space game for the iPad will launch in December, EA has revealed.
The publisher announced the game at a press event in Tokyo's Apple Store, according to TouchArcade.
The game will bridge the story gap between the first two Dead Space titles and feature motion-based dismemberment, letting you lop of necromorph limbs with the swipe of a finger.
A slideshow presentation at the event promised, "Third person shooter - no rails, no mode switching."
The slide made no mention of an iPhone version.
Hopefully the game will fare better than EA's other recent spin-off, Dead Space Ignition. Eurogamer's Chris Schilling deemed the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade download only worthy of 3/10.
EA also showed off a number of other games in the works for Apple's device at the event, including Reckless Racing, Monopoly, NBA Elite 11, EA Sports Active and Pictureka!
EA's mobile division has been very busy of late. It recently unveiled its first slate of titles for Microsoft's new Windows Phone 7 OS, including versions of Need For Speed: Underground, Tetris and The Sims 3.
Dead Space 2 launches on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on 25th January 2010.,

The full Android version of Angry Birds has been downloaded more than one million times from GetJar in the last 24 hours.
Developer Rovio Mobile tweeted the milestone this afternoon:
"Over 1 million Angry Birds downloads on GetJar in a day, no wonder the servers were down."
The figure was also confirmed by GetJar CMO Patrick Mork on Twitter, with the additional information that this is a new record for the independent app store.
GetJar's servers struggled to cope when the game went live yesterday, and more than 90,000 people downloaded it in a matter of seconds.
Rovio has also been using Twitter to respond to complaints from Android users about the performance of the game on their handsets.
"The experience on the Hero is not great, best we can do with that graphics hardware," says one tweet in response to a query.
Meanwhile, the developer also confirmed that the challenges of selling games on Android was one of the key reasons for going with GetJar and an ad-supported model.
"Yes, right now it's not easy to make money with paid content on Android. Hoping that ads will cover costs if nothing else," tweeted Rovio in response to another query.

Around 80 per cent of revenue from iPhone Apps stems from in-game goods, according to a report by analytics outfit Flurry>.
For the month of September, Flurry found that the average monthly revenue per user in its surveyed Apps was $9 from virtual goods sales, and just over $1 from advertising.
While advertising revenues were roughly the same in September 2009, the estimated average monthly revenue per user from virtual goods has grown from around $1.70 in the space of a year.
Flurry's figures were based on data from a range of 'leading' iOS applications, which it claims sport a combined reach of 2.2 million daily active users.

Not sure how this slipped by us, but it only seems appropriate after covering the Mac release of limera1n; Greenpois0n was updated 2 days ago to include a version available for Linux. While the Mac version is yet to be available, you can use Limera1n in the meantime, which has recently been released for Mac OS X.
The chronic dev team has said that the Mac version is almost near completion, as they work out a few small issues. Once that comes out, Greepois0n will be compatible on a total of 3 operating systems. It is unknown if GeoHot has plans for a Linux Limera1n.

Geohot has just recently updated the limera1n.com website to include a download link for Mac users. That's right, now everybody can join in on the fun.
Check out the guide on how to jailbreak 4.1 with limera1n
Limera1n is now compatible with both Mac and PC, and the expolit has already been ported by @wizdaz, to work with PwnageTool, for those users waiting on an custom firmware package in order to maintain their current baseband. I repeat: ultrasn0w unlockers should wait for PwnageTool
So now we have a jailbreak tool for both Platforms, and a PwnageTool release right around the corner for creating custom, non baseband updating, firmwares. It's a great month in the land of Jailbreaking!

Here’s a 2-channel Oscilloscope for your Android phone. It uses a base module driven by a dsPIC for signal processing. From there, an LMX9838 Bluetooth module broadcasts the data to the phone so that the waveform can be displayed. [Yus] ported some Python code he had been using over to a set of Java and XML files in order to get it working on Android. This was actually the first time he worked with the SDK… we’d say he’s a quick learner. See it in action after the break.

EA is bringing some of its biggest properties to iOS, the company revealed during a recent presentation at the Apple Store in Ginza, Tokyo. Aside from the numerous titles already revealed last week, EA is currently working on ports of Dead Space 2, Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit, and even an ad-supported, subscription-optional version of Pogo, the company's casual online games portal. There will also be an EA Active presence on Apple's devices, as well as a version of Monopoly.
Also, the other properties EA has lined up include an adaptation of the board game Pictureka! and a new racer called Reckless -- formerly known as Deliverace. If you're wondering, "Why the name change?" then clearly you've never spent time on the Cahulawassee River. Nobody wants to be reminded of that "vacation."

We've already established that if you're filthy rich, you probably don't want the same cell phone as common folk. No, if you're looking for something higher end, you'll probably end up talking to Stuart Hughes, who customizes electronics by plating them in gold and diamonds. We've already seen his work on a $20,000 iPhone 4, but his latest achievement is downright ridiculous. Called the "world's most expensive phone" (we'll see how long that lasts), Hughes made two identical models for an Australian client. Each handset includes over 500 diamonds and totals over 100 karats, and comes in its own special granite box. Its total cost is £5 million -- nearly 8 million dollars. Just don't bother crying when you leave it on the seat of a cab.

It seems like we're getting closer and closer to the arrival of the Palm Pre 2 and webOS 2.0, and it looks like Verizon will be in the mix -- we were just sent this image of Big Red's internal VZLearn portal showing Pre 2 device training. We still don't know when it'll actually hit or what pricing will be like, and we don't know if it'll hit Sprint and AT&T as well like the OG Pre, but we're guessing we'll find out soon enough -- keep a sharp eye, we'll let you know.

Beautiful Game Studios' first specialised iPhone and iPod Touch Championship Manager game has been released.
For an attractive £4/€5.49, yours can be a rebuilt football management sim designed only for Apple's touch-screen gizmos. The older iPhone ChampMan games were ports.
And it's not just the mechanics that have been tailor made: the gameplay is now based around "snack-sized chunks". BGS boss Roy Meredith reckoned most of you will find several pockets of spare time to play each day.
What's more, with the Championship Manager PC series on indefinite hold, CM11 on iPhone is shouldering the entire weight of the brand. There's no way Square Enix would let it be rubbish.
So, could this be what we haven't seen in years: the first Championship Manager to triumph over Football Manager?

Forget all that Mini stuff, Opera is bringing its full-flavored mobile browser to Android some time very soon indeed. To tempt people on board, the new software will support hardware acceleration for buttering up frame rates while you zoom around at potato-scalding speeds, while pinch-to-zoom will also be implemented in a big O Android browser for the first time. Opera Mini will be partaking in the latter upgrade as well, while Opera Mobile proper is expected to make its debut on the Android Market at some point over the next month. All versions of the "well diversified" OS are supported too!

EA will release Windows Phone 7 versions of Need for Speed: Undercover, Tetris, The Sims 3 and Monopoly when Microsoft's smart phone launches later this month.
All the games published by the EA Mobile division will be Xbox Live enabled. You'll be able to track and share scores with leaderboards, unlock Xbox Live Achievements, add to your Gamerscore and communicate with those on your friends list across the Xbox 360, PC and Windows Phone 7.
NFS Undercover will have 20 cars, 24 undercover missions and eight modes. Customisation and upgrades are also featured.
Tetris has Marathon mode, among others. The Sims 3 lets you choose from dozens of personality traits and built-in theme sets. You can complete goals, wishes and personal goals. Monopoly is Monopoly.
New games will be released each week, with demos, "asynchronous turn-based gameplay" and other gubbins.
Earlier this month Microsoft proclaimed Xbox Live integration as the best thing about Windows Phone 7.
60 games will be available at launch. Some, such as Zynga's Farmville, are aimed at the casual gaming audience. But others are clearly targeted at the Xbox's traditional fanbase, and have fancy 2D and 3D visuals.
Windows Phone 7 will go up against iPhone, Android and other devices that have in recent years invested heavily in gaming.
Microsoft is working on real-time phone-to-console gaming, likely initially through Wi-Fi, but the feature won't be ready for launch.
Windows Phone 7 will be released in the UK on 21st October.

Google's Android OS is 'irrelevant' to women, claims Lady Geek founder Belinda Parmar, citing research carried out by YouGov for her company.
The survey found that less than 5% of 25-39 year-old women would choose an Android smartphone, compared to 11.4% of men in that age group.
"Android provides a perfect example of how not to market a platform to women, and so the Android experience has become irrelevant to more than half of the population," she says.
She'll be presenting the full findings at this month's DroidCon conference in London.
"I know that this may come as a shock to the attendees at Droidcon and I’m prepared for the rotten tomatoes to be thrown, but it is true that Android has a ‘dude’ problem."
Several executives from Google will be speaking at the conference, so Parmar's session promises to be a hot ticket.

Much digital ink has been shed about the report from a third-party insurer indicating more broken iPhone 4s than 3GSes in the first four months. The accident rate for iPhone 4 is 68% higher that the iPhone 3GS, according to an analysis done by SquareTrade, with as many as 82% of them having glass damage. While the numbers seem large, it's important to remember that the actual number of iPhone 4s with scratched, cracked or broken glass was 771: just 3.9% (which includes scratches from dirt inside slide cases). Despite the usual suspects hyping this as "Glassgate," the reality - as is often the case - seems to be a bit less dramatic than that.
