A beta version of eReader.com's eBook software is now available for S60 3rd Edition. eReader is a long standing eBook store which provides some of the current best sellers in eBook form, protected via its own form of DRM. They provides a version of their reader for multiple platforms. However a few years ago they seemed to lose interest in support Symbian OS handsets, but under the new ownership of Fictionwise this seems to be changing.
The S60 3rd Edition version of eReader will be most attractive for those who have already bought books using eReader. If you're looking at buying an eBook for the first time you may also want to investigate the Amazon backed Mobipocket which provides both reading software and eBook store.
Both Mobipocket and eReader povide similar features in their software (full screen mode, the ability too look up words, bookmarks, autoscroll, font and text settings). Both can also be used to read standard .pdb file (non-DRM) which is useful for reading public domain content from sites such as Memoware.
Mobipocket is currently the more mature reader (and is also available for UIQ handsets), but hopefully the eReader software will progress during the course of its beta.
eReader is owned by Fictionwise, another eBook store, which has the notable positive feature of providing many of its books in multiple formats including both eReader and Mobipocket. Books bought from Fictionwise are therefore less susceptible to being left behind by changes in DRM.

Zodttd posted this WIP news over at his site:
Temper4iphone is a new emulator coming out for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch. It's a port of Exophase's original work titled Temper. It emulates TurboGrafx-16 and TurboGrafx-CD, which is also known as PC-Engine and PC-CD respectively.
It is actually fairly complete and has been for over two weeks now. It has remained fairly untouched and untested since then, though. I've been waiting for an update from Exophase for Temper. After not receiving it for awhile I recently contacted him. He seems to be under the impression of there being little to no interest in such an emulator.
Lets motivate by showing some support for his great work, and let him know how much we would like Temper. As you know, he made gpSP, the emulator gpSPhone is a port of. He's full of talent and I truly appreciate his work.
For those looking for more information on the TurboGrafx-16 and related hardware, take a look here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TurboGrafx-16
There is also a few lists of games for these systems in the "See Also" section.
I believe with a good showing of support an update will come quickly and a release will be made within this week. Of course I'll want the seal of approval from Exophase. I will keep everyone updated.
Looking forward to the replies,
ZodTTD

For those with identity crises, great senses of humor, or serious cases of Vista Fever, Spec-Works' VistaPerfection theme for the iPhone brings all the splendors of Windows Vista -- well, the important visual aspects, anyway -- to your pocket in a way that we can safely say Microsoft never intended. If the wow hadn't already started, ladies and gentlemen, it certainly has now.

With Nokia's dedication to Maemo and the recent Trolltech acquisition, it's no secret that Espoo has its eyes firmly locked on the Linux prize -- but outside the whole Internet Tablet phenomenon, there hasn't been a lot of product to show for it. Looks like that's all about to change, with CFO Rick Simonson commenting this week that the company will "definitely" be releasing some Linux-based cellphones in the future, marking a pretty big move for a company with strong tradition in its long-lived Series 40 dumbphone and S60 smartphone platforms. Simonson refused to get into the nitty gritty details about what flavor of mobile Linux would be used; borrowing from its tablets might make sense, but the Android and LiMo juggernauts seem like they're going to be pretty hard to ignore as well -- not to mention that Google is said to have chatted briefly about Android with Nokia in the not-too-distant past. So what does this all mean? Is S60 Touch in danger here?

It looks like you might have to think twice before flipping that old iPhone on eBay when the 3G version finally hits -- it appears that restoring the phone doesn't actually erase the contents of the flash, meaning that your data is available to anyone with the proper tools until it's overwritten. Making matters worse, it appears that Apple doesn't do a low-level format when refurbishing iPhones either -- an Oregon State Police detective was able to use forensic software to pull files, emails, and screenshots off an out-of-the-box refurbished iPhone. This actually shouldn't be surprising to anyone -- we've seen several utilities that access "deleted" portions of storage -- but since Apple doesn't provide users direct access to the iPhone's filesystem, it's basically impossible to clear your personal data off the device short of restoring and filling the disk with junk data. Hopefully iPhone 2.0's Exchange-based "remote wipe" feature is a bit more secure, eh?

Espoo, Finland - Nokia and KONAMI, a leading global developer, publisher and manufacturer of electronic entertainment properties, today announced that KONAMI mobile titles will be added to the N-Gage mobile games platform. The mobile version of the award-winning METAL GEAR SOLID® will be the first title in the games line-up. METAL GEAR SOLID® MOBILE has received top honours at the 2007 International Mobile Gaming Awards (IMGA), taking both the Grand Prix and Operator's Choice Awards.
The new version of the classic game features original content that can only be found on the mobile platform. METAL GEAR SOLID® MOBILE includes never-before-seen dramatic 3D art displays and camera work. The detailed in-game graphics capture the atmosphere of the METAL GEAR SOLID® series and create a depth that completely draws the player into the game, and pushes the capabilities of the mobile platform. Players face the extreme tension of solitary infiltration in this version of the tactical espionage action game developed in conjunction with Ideaworks3D and utilizing its Airplay 3.5 SDK. An in-game camouflage system utilizes colour samples from the scenery of the real world captured by the handset's camera. Moreover, additional controls are introduced that are made especially for mobile devices.
"We're excited to see KONAMI tap into the performance and community features we've built into the N-Gage platform," said Gregg Sauter, Director, Third Party Games Publishing, Nokia. "METAL GEAR SOLID® on N-Gage will raise the bar with respect to graphical detail and made-for-mobile features. We look forward to the launch of this great franchise on N-Gage."
"It is my sincere hope that global Nokia N-Gage users will experience the appeal of "METAL GEAR®" that has been brought to the mobile platform in the form of "METAL GEAR SOLID® MOBILE," said Hideo Kojima, Executive Producer of Kojima Productions, Corporate Officer of Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. "I believe that this cooperation between Nokia and KONAMI will form the perfect match to share the vast potential of mobile entertainment content with users all around the world."

Ok not clock stopping news here but enough to warrant you to stop and read this bit of news just in.
With the thoughts of the Gizmondo 1.5 swimming round the aspect of battery life is still a key objection. this however in an unsuspecting move has been addressed with this comment from Carl Freer.
We know the Gizmondo's standard battery was no good hence the need for the premium battery but please read on.
QUOTE
We understand that there was an issue with the batteries in the original Gizmondo units. Frankly, they never worked very well. Part of this was due to the physical battery used, the other was the power management module in the OS.
We now have a MUCH enhanced solution for the battery issue (including a new model battery) that we will be offering in the new Gizmondo units. Additionally, we will to offer a new battery to current Gizmondo owners as part of the upgrade process. This program will be available FREE OF CHARGE and will be a part of the relaunch.
As I mentioned, we are committed to current owners and want to help enhance their experience along with draw new users to Gizmondo.
Now to read that on first comment would be wow! Indeed great commitment to the early adopters and possibly very risky financially but if we read into this, there might be some form of exchange old batteries for new? What lies on the horizon for the Gizmondo surely must be big as this is merely a spec of what’s to come

FIL is application, which enables people to meet their new partner (love). How many times did your eyes cross eyes of other person and you did not find guts to approach this person? Or even worse – you wished you did not do that...
FIL will help you in such cases. It monitors your position and finds other local people running same app FIL. After both parties approve meeting, they meet in 7 days at the same place they met first time (some romanticism has to be left...).
From that point it is up to them... http://www.gotoandroid.com/projects/fil-fall-love
