derStandard, the same publication that announced that the iPhone would be sailing into Austria via T-Mobile is now reporting that the same carrier will be testing the 3G iPhone in the aforesaid country. During a press conference in Vienna, T-Mo Austria reportedly affirmed that a UMTS version of Apple's handset would "soon be available," and that Austria would be the "testing ground" for the new mobile -- not to mention "among the first countries in the world with the UMTS iPhone." Furthermore, bigwigs stated that "more flexible" offers would be made available, but details beyond that were scant.

According to cellpassion, AT&T's pulling a similar move as Apple did last year, disallowing any employee vacations for a period from June 15 to July 12. If this is true, there's only one reason why AT&T would do this: the 3G iPhone. Why did they pick June 15 when the keynote for WWDC is June 9? Beats me. It seems more and more likely that the phone is coming, however, so don't buy anything until after June unless you want to be a sad sack.

Hi all,
this is just another auto locking program.
The difference is that it uses the Windows Lock and it can be activated:
a. A few seconds after the screen has deemed (Backlight has been reduced due to user inactivity) and/or
b. After the device has waken up.
Also during the above the program can run a specified executable/registered file together with any command line arguments that might be required.
The behavior of this program is driven by the next key/values:
> Key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CSDevCtrl\Options
> Values
- LockWhileOnExternalPwr=0 or 1
If set to 1 it will lock the device even while running on external power.
- LockAfterWake=0 or 1
If set to 1 it will lock the device after the device has waken (not soft reset).
- LockAfterWakeOnlyBlthOn= 0 or 1
If set to 1 it will lock the device after the device has waken (not soft reset) and Bluetooth is on.
- DelayBeforeLockMsAfterWake=250
Time in ms to wait before applying the lock from wake and running any program (no need to change).
- LockAfterDim=0 or 1
If set to 1 it will lock the device after the screen has dimmed (user inactive).
- DelayBeforeLockMs=250
Time in ms to wait before applying the lock from dim and running any program (no need to change)
- LockAfterDimSeconds=10
Time in seconds to wait before applying the lock once the screen has dimmed.
- ShowTodayAfterLock=0 or 1
If set to 1 it will bring the Windows Today Screen after applying the user selected lock.
-- AfterTodayRunFilePath=XXX
XXX (if not left blank) it can be an executable/registed file which will be run after the lock and the Today focus
-- AfterTodayRunFileParm=XXX
XXX (if not left blank) they are the command line arguments of the previous option.
-- LockAndBackAfterToday=0 or 1
If set to 1, after unlocking the Today screen will be hidden so that the rest of the windows are visible.
If set to 0 then the next values will be used
-- AfterLockRunFilePath=XXX
XXX (if not left blank) it can be an executable/registed file which will be run after the lock.
-- AfterLockRunFileParm=XXX
XXX (if not left blank) they are the command line arguments of the previous option.
To install it:
> copy the csdevctrl.exe to a folder
The initial run of the program, will create the registry keys with default values which are:
- LockAfterWakeOnlyBlthOn= 0
- LockWhileOnExternalPwr=0
- LockAfterWake=1
- DelayBeforeLockMsAfterWake=250
- LockAfterDim=1
- DelayBeforeLockMs=250
- LockAfterDimSeconds=10
- ShowTodayAfterLock=1
-- AfterTodayRunFilePath=(Blank)
-- AfterTodayRunFileParm=(Blank)
-- LockAndBackAfterToday=1
-- AfterLockRunFilePath=(Blank)
-- AfterLockRunFileParm=(Blank)
To run it:
Simply run it and it will spawn at the background as another process.
Running the program second time will cause the program to exit (It will show a confirmation window which will close in 3 seconds unless you close it sooner).
To uninstall it, close the process as usual (run it again or kill the process) and delete the file.
Also delete the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CSDevCtrl\Options
As a note, do not rename the csdevctrl.exe as the uninstall depends on this name.
It has been compiled for WM5 so it should run on both WM5/WM6 (i am using a Kaiser with WM6.1)
Have fun
Chris
P.S:
I can not upload the new version, seems there is a problem with the xda side.
This is the rapidshare link instead:
http://rapidshare.com/files/11228207...ctrl-v.2.5.zip
Changes:
Added option to lock only if bluetooth is on after wake

Screen shots posted on Chinese site wretch.cc allege that iPhone firmware 2.0 has added support for Chinese handwriting recognition in addition to a revamped (albeit non-recognition) Japanese interface. While that's still light years from an Apple admission that not everyone is in love with the on-screen keyboard, it's one small step toward functionality that seems to make boatloads of sense -- in any language -- given the phone's generously proportioned touchscreen and its reluctant but unavoidable nomination as the Newton's spiritual successor. What isn't clear is how folks are expected to draw characters, seeing how there's no provision for an on-board stylus, the entire interface is designed for finger use, and we don't see many owner rushing out for a Pogo. However Apple intends for this feature to be used, the implementation looks pretty hot, capable of operating in both portrait and landscape modes. Sadly, it seems that Chinese is the one and only language supported at the moment; sure you don't want to let everyone in on the Graffiti-esque retro fun here, guys?

S2P(Slide2Play) is my third S2 series application. S2P is a stylus-free MP3/WMA player application. It simply lets you browse your music files & play.
Changes:
- added AVRCP support (play/pause/next/previous) to devices that use MS BT stack.
- added DPAD control to "move" the playback when the timeline is shown.
- added "Repeat Single" - tap the repeat icon until a small "1" is shown.
- limited the way to change to portrait Album View by double tap the album title area only; to go back, double tap the album title area again.
- fixed the issue that some devices cannot run in Landscape mode.
- some minor bugs fixed. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=377627

Keripo today gives the iPod some GBA Emulation Loving, heres the full post from him:
After doing source code diffs with Zaphod's original gpSP port and zacaj's later port, I did a full and proper re-port of the Exophase's latest version of gpSP. My current version is mostly changes from Zaphod's original port (via hotdog and iBoy code) with the usage of the COP through zacaj's changes. The result is a patch file that allows for the building of the entirely separate iPod target (sound can be enabled in or disabled through recompiling).
I have not done much testing for this but it seems to be pretty fast (same speed or faster than zacaj's version due to clean code) and very stable (no memory issues when launched from PZ2 even). The only issue I can see is the menu-display issue that comes from removing the original screen clearing code and relying on hotdog. To compensate, I removed a few of the (probably) less-used menu items so that all the basic menu-items get shown. On nanos the menu is quite difficult to read but its the same layout as the GP2X and PSP versions (if you're familiar with them).
After looking a bit more into the source code apart from Zaphod/zacaj's changes, I believe igpSP can be further optimized by using Exophase's newer ARM alpha blending pass (which is "gp2x/video_blend.S"). The pixel blitting code can probably also be moved entirely to hotdog, which could lead to smoother graphics, a fixed menu, and faster (or maybe even slower) rendering. If you want to try building igpSP yourself, download Exophase's gpSP 0.9-2Xb source code, run the patch file that comes with the below download, "cd" into the newly created "ipod" folder, then type "make" or "make SOUND=1" with the 3.4.3 toolchain.
Now remember kids, DISTRIBUTION OF COPYRIGHT MATERIAL IS ILLEGAL! Download free, public domain roms from websites like PDRoms. Dump your own gba_bios.bin from a GameBoy Advance hardware you own. Other than that, enjoy and leave your results/feedback here!
Download:
http://ipodlinux.org/Image:IgpSP_0.9_2Xb.tar.gz
(pre-compiled, sound-less binary + patch file)
Last but not least, remember to give your thanks to Exophase (the amazing original writer of this emulator), ZodTTD (the GP2X porter), Zaphod (the original porter from whom most of my patch's changes come from), zacaj (who used COP to speed things up), ducky and fellni (who wrote iBoy, from which Zaphod borrowed code from), and the iPL Devs (who wrote the fast hotdog engine and, of course, iPodLinux). Remember kids, ARM dyna-rec + hotdog + COP = Win!

AT&T's free Starbucks Wi-Fi for iPhone usersdeal didn't last very long. Users on the MacRumors forum say that locations where Wi-Fi worked just days ago now have the free iPhone access removed. Considering AT&T never made an official mention of the service, it's possible somebody at the Death Star jumped the gun and the mistake has been corrected. Or maybe the company found out that a simple hack would let anybody with a friend's iPhone number get a free ride

Nokia tells us that Reset Generation—their new "flagship" title for the N-Gage—will appeal to those who grew up playing videogames. The multiplayer puzzle-adventure is supposed to tickle you by using parodies of characters like Mario, Link, and even Master Chief, resulting in what they call "the world's first videogame about videogames." We are going to call it "yet another game that couldn't use the real thing so they decided to do humorous knockoffs." Although who knows, if it's crazy enough, it may work

Well here's an interesting one. French iPhone blog iPhon.fr got these pics from an anonymous and unverified source, and while there's no way of telling if the shots are legit, they certainly have a truthy ring to them. They follow what we know so far about the shape, size and color of the upcoming 3G iPhone, and while there's always the possibility of knockoff, a Photoshop job, or some other evil plot to mislead us, we're certainly not going to discount these shots entirely in the runup to iPhone's second coming.
Update: Some commenters have pointed out that the size and shape of this phone bares a striking resemblance to LG's Vu. As we said up above, we're not ruling out some handy editing work here.

Now that AT&T has full control of wireless hotspots like Starbucks and Barnes and Nobles, it looks like they're doling out freebies to their favorite customers: iPhone users. Apparently, if you've got one of Apple's devices, you can hop on the WiFi networks for exactly zero dollars provided you enter your phone number at a login screen. Great for iPhone owners, but a raw deal for everyone else, right? Not so fast, apparently a dumb hack gets you the service on the house too -- just switch your browser's user agent to Mobile Safari, and presto! Free internet. We can't imagine this is a hole that won't get plugged real fast, so get it while the gettin's good.

Yeah, we too are hoping that these overseas impostors will have to start changing up their game if they still want to ape the iPhone in just a few months, but as it stands, the Toggolino Phone actually does a fantastic job of shaming itself. Apparently this handset, er, device comes packaged with some form of German kit meant to teach kinder a few things about words, animals and the equitable distribution of wealth throughout social classes. Okay, so maybe that last bit isn't in there, but seriously, those animal apps look way more interesting than stocks, weather and company email.

Passionfools Design has just released CubicMan 0.0.2.
New in this version:
- Progress saving and loading.
- All new UI and texture.
- 15 new levels + enhancement of those old 8 levels (effectively 23 new levels).
- Music and sound effects.
- New triggers: bridges, thin tile and teleporter.
- New control mode using Accelerometer.
With accelerometer mode, you can roll the cube by tilting. If you set "Quick Move" on, the cube will keep rolling as long as the device is tilted (be careful, don't roll over the edge^^). When the "Quick Move" is off, the cube will roll just once with each tilting.
Also, unlike in "swipe" mode that the screen orientation is adjusted automatically, you have to select to play in either "Portrait" or "Landscape" when using the accelerometer mode.
CubicMan is available on Installer thru modmyifone's repository: at http://modmyifone.com/installer.xml

The "near future" for the impending iPhone data plan for the deaf was apparently four months. Dubbed the Text Accessibility Plan for iPhone, it comes with unlimited text messaging, browsing and email. It's now available for new and current iPhone users for $40 a month, though you've gotta clear an eligibility application to get it.

According to Fortune, AT&T's going to further subsidize the iPhone down as much as $200, making the final retail price a scant $199 with two-year-contract. The rumor is that the $200 bonus will only be available in AT&T stores, not in Apple stores, so people buying and exporting or using it with T-Mobile will be paying the higher price. Current first-gen iPhone users probably won't get this $200 subsidy when upgrading either, unless perhaps they renew for another 2 years.

It seemed like it would never happen, but the impossible has occurred: Apple's iPhone is coming to Canada. The news was quietly slipped into telecom giant Rogers' latest earnings report, with the simple statement that the company was "thrilled to announce" a "deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to Canada later this year." Apparently, lips are sealed on all other details, but we'll keep you posted as news gets our way

Too busy to bother with external speakers for your iPod? Still can't shake that fascination with colored blocks after all these decades? Take heart, young buck, as the iPod building block speakers can keep that kid in you alive for a good bit longer -- though we aren't sure the audiophile in you will be too pleased. These non-powered "drivers" get amped after being plugged into an iPod's dock connector (sorry, iPhone users), but curiously enough, they only arrive in a single 2.5- x 1- x .75-inch form, which doesn't exactly fit flush against the last-gen nano. Nevertheless, those giddy about the notion of claiming a few as their own can pick 'em up in yellow, white, red, black, blue and green for $24.99 apiece.
