News from http://www.icontrolpad.com/blog
Gads, what a month! The compatibilty page is updated with 30+ apps, we're expecting over 100 by Christmas, the nubs can now be supported within iTunes apps and Vertex Blaster is the perfect app to try them on, you can also try some Llamasoft ports from the Amiga/ST era, see the compatibility page for more.
The Universal holder add on has been a HUGE success, with 500 previous customers alone upgrading to it in 2 weeks! At one point we were quite literally working 24 hours between a team of 4 people to get everything done, were now back on 24 hour shipping, your order will usually ship the same day if you get it in before 3PM GMT.
We're still pushing ahead supporting new developers, starting a Christmas publicity campaign, confirming all new phones work with the new holder (they do so far), the site has been updated to leave the older slide clamps behind (but they are still available and supported), and we will have a press publicity photos section this week for all you reviewers.
That's all I can think of for this update, those of you asking about Christmas ordering, all I can say is order early to be sure we will have stock - it's hard to anticipate the number of orders as we approach, no doubt it will be quite a few to say the least.

Verizon, the largest wireless carrier in North America, has asked the US courts to end Apple's patent litigation against Samsung, saying that it would be contrary to public interest to continue the case.
Apple is suing Samsung over alleged patent infringement incurred by four products: the Galaxy S 4G, Infuse 4G, and Droid Charge smartphones, and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet, Foss Patents reports.
Verizon has lodged an amicus curiae brief, a legal action which allows third parties with a vested interest in the outcome of a case to present its views to the court. In that filing the network claims that Apple's request for a preliminary injuction to ban the sale of the Samsung devices: "would hinder Verizon Wireless in developing and deploying its next generation high-speed LTE network, the job growth dependant on that network, and will undercut key public policy goals, including expansion of Americans' access to broadband networks and faster communication with emergency personnel."
The move is an escalation which could have wide-ranging repercussions for the tech market. Verizon is generally perceived as being pro-Android already, and receives several market benefits from Google in return for its affiliation. Although the company has attempted to intervene legally on behalf of both Apple and Google before, this move is likely to be interpreted as intentionally contradictory to Apple's business interests.

Those looking forward to the next iteration of Apple's world-conquering smartphone might have to wait a little longer.
DigiTimes reports that the eagerly awaited iPhone 5 may be delayed after a problem has been detected with some of the device's touch panels produced by Wintek.
The site's sources claim a "delayed bubble" has formed on many of the models. This is apparently difficult to avoid during production and hard to detect before the touch panels are laminated.
However, Wintek claims that the similarities between the manufacturing process for iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 means that the problem can be resolved quickly. The company produces between 20 and 25 per cent of the touch panels used in the iPhone 5.
The new iPhone is expected to be unveiled and released in October. Reports suggest Apple is planning to ship up to 26m units in Q4 2011.

Driving cars on the floor is so passe, which is exactly why you need iHelicoter's wall-scaling iW500. We've seen similar gravity-defying propositions in the past, but this is the first to be controlled by your iOS device. Belying its 90s toy looks, the car attaches itself to vertical surfaces with a sealed vacuum that even has enough suck to drive upside-down across your ceiling. As you'll see in the video after the break, controls are handled using the built-in accelerometer on your phone or tablet as well as the touchscreen interface on the dedicated app. It'll join a crowded starting grid of iPhone-friendly RC cars, helicoptersand monster trucks, priced at $59.99.

MAME4droid is a version of iMAME4all (iPhone, iPad) for Android, developed also by David Valdeita (Seleuco).
They emulates arcade games supported by original MAME 0.37b5 plus some additional games from newer MAME versions.
This version emulates over 2000 different romsets.
Please, try to understand that that with that amount of games, some will run better than others and some might not even run with iMAME4all. Please, don´t email me asking for a specific game to run.
Although the performance is very good with modern devices (all games I tested on iPad run practically perfect), owners of older devices should not expect a good performance; please turn off sound because that's very helpful.
After installing, place your MAME-titled zipped roms in /var/mobile/Media/ROMs/iMAME4all/roms (iMAME4all) or /sdcard/ROMs/MAME4all/roms (MAME4droid) folder.
MAME4droid & iMAME4all uses only '0.37b5', 'GP2X, WIZ 0.37b11 mame romset'. Use "clrmame.dat" file included in '/var/mobile/Media/ROMs/iMAME4all' or /sdcard '/ROMs/MAME4all/' to convert romsets from other MAME versions to the ones used by this version, using ClrMAME Pro utility, available in next webpage:
http://mamedev.emulab.it/clrmamepro/
iMAME4ll & MAME4droid will never have "save states" since it is based on a MAME version that does not support it.
I am releasing everything for free, in keeping with the licensing MAME terms, which is free for non-commercial use only. This is strictly something I made because I wanted to play with it and have the skills to make it so. That said, if you are thinking on ways to support my development I suggest you to check my other free works for the community.

the emulator should open starting the game
Step 2 : Click Options on the top left corner, hover you’re mouse over emulator, then save type it normal will be on Flask 64K Change it, click on Flask 128K
Step 3 : Start playing the game (Z = A//X=B Space speeds up the game) make your character name and go all the way until where you wake up from your dream. once your inside your room in the game press Enter and go down to Save and press Z and save the game.
When you do this, the saved file should appear on your desktop named “Pokemon platinum GBA version.sav”
Step 4 : Tranfer the VBA bios file to phone (and set it later at gpsp file settings)
Step 5 : Transfer the Save file to your ROM folder with the same name as the ROM into your phone. For example if the game is named as “Pokemon_platinum.gba”, then save the save file as “Pokemon_platinum.sav”
Open gpsp4Symbian, set the new bios and play Pokemon Platinum
(PS. You cant make a new game, just press continue you can make multiple save files, you won’t ever need to make a new game because you didn’t even start )

In a press release, Square Enix says its iPad peripheral is a "faithful recreation" of Taito's original Space Invaders cabinet from 1978.
Set for release later this year, the Invadercade has an internal amp and speakers, headphone socket, joystick and a single button. At ÂŁ150, it's almost double the price of the ÂŁ80 iCade - and only supports a single game, Space Invaders HD.

If you've got an HTC Shift sitting around that's collecting dust and not doing much else, it could find a new lease on life with the revelation of its (very unofficial) support for Windows 8. Like they did for Mac OS X previously, the folks at xda-developers have shoehorned Microsoft's latest Developer Preview OSonto the dejected UMPC, and so long as you've got a bit of spare time, the right equipment and are good at following instructions, you can too. All the basic driver support appears to be in order, including support for video acceleration, the touchscreen and WiFi. Granted, you should keep in mind you'll be installing pre-release software on unsupported hardware, but isn't that half the fun? There's a video after the break (heads-up: it's in French), and if you're looking to get started right away, you'll find a full list of instructions in the source below.

One sure fire way to make sure you never lose your iPad? Stick the thing in your wall. Now available in North America from Bracketron, the iRoom iDock is a motorized dock for your Apple tablet that can be flush-mounted into your wall. Once connected to your power supply, the system's proximity sensor will open up when you're around to accept your tablet into its docky clutches, for some serious wall-charging action -- and if there's a power outage, the thing will open up automatically, so you can grab your slate back. The dock is available in landscape or portrait orientation and comes in black, aluminum or white -- or you can get a custom color to match your home's walls, because why not go all out with your wall-mounted iPad dock thing?

We have yet to receive official word on this, but All Things Digital is reporting today that Apple's next big media event will be held on October 4th, where freshly minted CEO Tim Cook is expected to unveil the iPhone 5. Sources close to the situation say Cook will be the main presenter at the event, with execs Phil Schiller, Scott Forstall and Eddy Cue playing supporting roles. This would mark the first time that Cook has actually led an Apple event, adding an extra wrinkle of significance to an already highly anticipated occasion. The site's sources went on to say that the next-gen iPhone will be available for purchase "within a few weeks" of the announcement, though All Things Digital acknowledges that the exact date of its unveiling is still subject to change. As always, we'll be sure to keep you posted as soon as we hear more.http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/21/report-apple-to-hold-media-event-on-october-4th-tim-cook-to-un/

Mobile market research firm Distimo looked at the 300 most popular apps on Apple's App Store and found that downloads of free apps had grown 34 per cent since last year. Downloads of paid apps, however, have grown by just 7 per cent.
Despite just 4 per cent of apps on the download service using the system, 72 per cent of all App Store revenue comes through in-app purchasing, up from just 28 per cent in 2010. Of that figure, 24 per cent was through paid apps, and double that through free apps.

A senior executive at Samsung claims that the company is planning legal action to prevent iPhone 5 from being sold in Korea.
According to a report on ArsTechnica, an unnamed executive told The Korea Times that the action will take place "just after the launch" of the latest iteration of the iPhone.
"Samsung plans to take Apple to court here for its violation of Samsung's wireless technology related patents," the executive said.
"For as long as Apple does not drop mobile telecommunications functions, it would be impossible for it to sell its i-branded products without using our patents. We will stick to a strong stance against Apple during the lingering legal fights."
This is the latest development in an ongoing patent struggle between the two companies. Apple initially took legal action in April, claiming that Samsung had "slavishly" copied the iPad for its Galaxy tablet. Samsung later counter-sued over patent infringements on its mobile devices.
So far, the law has favoured Apple, with company blocking the sale of Samsung tablets in Germany and indefinitely delaying their launch in Australia. It also won restrictions against Samsung smartphones in the Netherlands.
Despite Apple and Samsung's close working relationship - Apple is currently Samsung's number one customer - there are now at least 23 lawsuits pending between the two companies.
Reports suggest that the iPhone 5 will launch next month.

What's this? Some of HP's unreleased WebOS devices? Well yes! Say hello to the white european TouchPad, the black TouchPad 4G for AT&T, the Pre 3 for AT&T, and our very own Veer 4G review unit, all gathered on a fine specimen of new century modern upholstery. We were able to unbox these devices and handle the hardware, but the software was off limits. The owner of the Pre 3 did activate it for us, but that's as far as we were able to go. While still heavier and thicker than the competition, the white TouchPad -- a 64GB model with the faster 1.5GHz CPU -- is significantly more attractive than its black sibling, and less of a fingerprint magnet to boot. AT&T's TouchPad 4G -- with 32GB of storage and the same 1.5GHz processor -- features a working SIM slot for the carrier's faux-G network (HSPA+), but is otherwise cosmetically identical to the existing WiFi version. The Pre 3 is is identical to the one we handled during HP's announcement last February, save for the AT&T logo on the back. Check out our gallery below, and hit the break for our hands-on video.

Logitech isn't exactly a stranger to universal remotes, and if you've been yearning for an Android or iOS aimed solution from the Swiss company, its new $100 Harmony Link should have you covered. The Link is a WiFi-enabled infrared puck and app combo, that allows you to control up to eight devices in your home theater from the comfort of your touchscreen sans pesky dongles or cases. After downloading a free app, pocket-sized iDevices and Android smartphones can act as universal remotes over your home network, while iPad users also get the benefit of personalized TV listings from Rovi. It's similar in price and function to Peel's Fruit, but drops the extra wireless dongle and adds a native iPad app. Notably, the Link can interface with multiple iPads at once, and Logitech's also thrown in a mini IR blaster to make controlling your AV gear that much easier. If another one of your home theater dreams just came true, the Harmony Link is up for pre-order now from Logitech and due out in October. While your still here, there's quick video overview past the break along with the the usual PR spiel.
