The survey from comparison site GoodMobilePhones.co.uk shows app developers will need to work harder in order to secure consumer loyalty, as 63 per cent of Brits delete smartphone apps after one use.
Almost three-quarters have used apps just once, with gaming apps accounting for 61 per cent of apps that become neglected.
Meanwhile, 56 per cent use less than ten per cent of the apps on their device, while the average smartphone owner spends three hours per week using apps.
73 per cent use social networking apps Facebook and Twitter the most, with news apps securing 69 per cent popularity, though just seven per cent regularly revisit novelty apps.
Word of mouth and cost were contributing factors for downloading a new app, influencing 48 per cent and 32 per cent respectively.

Futulele has come a long way since we saw it in March; it's now on the App Store and has put on a lot of sheen in return for slipping past the original April release target. Along with a few more flowers to reinforce the Hawaiian vibe, Amidio's definitive ukelele app has since gained the requisite support for the new iPad's graphics and a fully automatic mode, just in case you're not yet a virtual Jake Shimabukuro. If your ambitions do involve playing for yourself, you still have access to the promised maximum 132 chords (12 per set) with the flexibility to adjust chorus, delay, EQ and reverb in addition to recording those plucky creations. We're still waiting on the Futulele Remote app (and matching case) to choose chords more like we would on the real deal, but you can do it all on the iPad for now if you're willing to spend a fiver at the App Store. A flower necklace and an impressionable young lover are optional.

Scalado's latest 99 cent app for iOS only does one little thing, but it does it well. Its singular mission is to let you share an image from your Camera Roll to any web-connected display in front of you, without having to navigate through a more sophisticated file-sharing platform or use extra hardware on the receiving device. That recipient can be anything -- a smart TV, tablet, PC, Mac, games console, whatever -- so long as it has a browser pointed at the Photobeamer homepage. That page displays a QR code, which provides all the clever linkage you need: you simply load up the app on your mobile, pick the image you want to share, and then point the rear camera at the QR code to beam the image across via the web.
Having given it a quick test, we'd say it's definitely up to regular domestic challenges where you just want to display a few photos rather than perhaps videos or presentation slides, and where there's no need toprint or store shared images. You can swipe left and right between different pictures in your gallery, and also choose whether you want those images to be fitted to the recipient display or resized to fill it. There's a video after the break to help you decide if that's worth a dollar, while the Photobeamer app itself waits patiently at the iTunes link below.

When it rains, it pours -- after a tiny drizzle of tall iPod touch leaks, we're suddenly faced with a deluge of photos of what might just be the next iPhone's back plating. If that's what we're looking at through photos supplied by a historically reliable uBreakiFix, talk of bigger iPhone screens might just pan out, as it looks decidedly taller than the iPhone 4S we use today. Apple may likewise be going all old-school iPhone on us, with a modern twist: we could be reverting to an aluminum back with more receptive materials (likely glass) at the ends, just in a much thinner form that keeps the steel antenna band. Perhaps the most intriguing bit is at the bottom, where rumors of a much smaller dock connector may have been validated along with a shift of place for the headphone jack. There's still a chance we're looking at an elaborate KIRF or an early engineering prototype that could change, but given that 9to5 Mac just got very similar images with black trim, there's a real possibility that we've just been given a sneak peek of what to expect from Apple later this year.
Update: A handful of extra photos have surfaced at 9to5 that show a bit of the front, as well as better views of the back. It's looking like the new model won't quite be as skinny as some photos suggest, and we're digging the different-hued, two-tone design a bit more now that it's not being subjected to Mr. Blurrycam. We've included the more choice shots in the gallery.

A prototype iPad with two docks sold on eBay last night for for $10,200 (or approximately ÂŁ6,500).
It was a first generation, 16GB device, which saw 23 bids in the run up to the auctionâs end (link here - warning, lots of hi-res images so it can be very slow to load).
The most interesting feature of the device are the two docks, apparently fully functional â one positioned so that users could dock iPads while in landscape mode. The eBay seller commented: âApple prototyped these iPads to have this connector late in the process and at the last minute decided to remove them.â
The iPad also came with Appleâs software testing suite, Switchboard and was running the beta version of iOS 3.2.
The seller also noted that as prototypes like this are deliberately disabled, he had done his best to refurbish it, but had not been able to fix the touchscreen â that little fact didnât seem to stop the bidding, however.

Apple has confirmed the keynote and talk schedule for this yearâs WWDC, taking place in San Francisco between june 11th and 15th.
The keynote will take place on June 11th at 10am Pacific Time, and although Apple have not yet confirmed who will be speaking, it seems a safe bet to assume that it will be Apple CEO Tim Cook.
Apple are keeping tight-lipped about any new product launches obviously, but what we do know is that there will be six technical tracks and more than 100 sessions and labs, all exploring the latest technologies in iOS and OS X.
The conference tracks are as follows:
- Essentials
- App Services
- Developer Tools
- Graphics, Media and Games
- Safari and Web
- Core OS
Open hour labs will be available all day, every day for general questions, and will provide a chance to work one-to-one with Apple experts to get advice on everything from development to distribution.
This yearâs event will also feature The Apple Design Awards, Lunchtime Speakers and the WWDC Bash, which will provide a chance to relax, eat food and ârock the night awayâ.
Apple are still taking submissions for the Apple Design Awards, you can submit your nomination here.
PCR will be reporting on the details of the WWDC event in June.

A flash survey of 968 people by MyVoucherCodes.co.uk found 32 per cent of Brits would upgrade to a Facebook Smartphone if the device launches.
In all 73 per cent said the rumoured device was a âgood ideaâ, and here are the reasons why:
1. Facebook chat accessibility â 62%
2. Cheaper alternative to an iPhone â 57%
3. Constant access to Facebook â 55%
4. Simple functionality â 49%
5. Keep up with new tech trends â 48%
One has to be a little dubious about the findings. After all users have had the chance to switch to Facebook-configured phones before - from INQ and HTC - and have never gone for it.
Also, loyalty to iPhone and Galaxy et al is pretty strong. Too strong, one would think, for widespread switching.

15 per cent of all programme requests come from phones and tablets.
The Beeb's on-demand streaming service â BBC iPlayer â experienced a 94 per cent year-on-year increase via mobile phones and tablets in April 2012, while 15 per cent of all views came from the devices in the same month.
This has enabled iPlayer to become UK's top free iPad app of all time, while total programme requests average at approximately 190 million per month, up 24 per cent on 2011.
Connected devices â Smart TVs, game consoles, blu-ray players â are also pulling their weight, with use rising by 57 per cent year-on-year, accounting for 11 per cent of requests in April.

Customers could have to wait as long as four weeks.
In the past two weeks, demand for the Samsung Galaxy S III has been incredible, with over nine million pre-orders â something the S and S II failed to achieve â while Carphone Warehouse called it 'the most pre-ordered phone of 2012'.
Now, Vodafone has told Pocket-lint that its customers may not receive the device for between two-four weeks, with the official launch penciled in for tomorrow â May 30th.
The S III comes in two colours, but eager beavers that pre-ordered the 32GB marble white and 16GB or 32GB pebble blue versions can expect the shipping delays, though the 16GB white model is expected to arrive on time.
A Vodafone spokesperson, said: "Weâre working closely with Samsung to ensure devices reach our customers as soon as possible and will be contacting them directly to advise them on their orderâs progress.
"The Galaxy SIII has already become the most pre-ordered device to join our line-up and weâre as keen as our customers are to get it into their hands as soon as possible."

We've see BBC iPlayer reach many devices over time, but it's been conspicuously absent on Windows Phone. Nokia has stepped into give us some relief, and it's now promising that a port of the TV catch-up service will be ready for your Lumia 800 "in weeks." Good news no doubt, although Nokia's encyclopedic knowledge of British TV streaming is also dashing hopes of using the Sky Go mobile app on Windows Phone anytime soon: the same Nokia rep doesn't see Sky being ready for a "good few months" at the earliest. As such, you'll have no problems keeping up with Doctor Who and Sherlock when they're airing, but we wouldn't count on watching live football matches for awhile.
Update: Pocket-lint is reporting that it quizzed the BBC over this issue and got a firm denial about a Windows Phone version, which suggests that The Inquirer's report, or its Nokia source, may have made an illogical deduction.

973,086 iOS devices were jailbroken in a single weekend thanks to Absinthe 2.0, which was released on Friday. Chronic-Dev, one half of the Jailbreak Dream Team tweeted the announcement yesterday, adding that 211,401 of those freed were third-generation iPads. If you want to loosen your own Apple-branded handheld from the clutches of Cupertino's control, then the warranty-worrying software is still available -- with the promise that it's so easy, your grandma could do it.

We're very used to Apple prototypes showing up on eBay. It's not often that we see unreleased iPads get the auction treatment, however, which makes a new listing that much more interesting. A 16GB WiFi version of the original iPad has popped up sporting a second dock connector on its side, a feature that we'd previously only spotted in Apple design patents. The advantage, of course, would be to keep the iPad powered and synced while it's playing a favorite movie in landscape mode. While we don't know how one aaps69 managed to get hands on the tablet, there's some clear signs that the seller didn't just carve an extra hole in the aluminum for kicks: the slate is running the familiar SwitchBoard tool that Apple uses for in-house diagnostics, and there's a raft of old and incomplete part details that suggest this particular iPad was never meant for store shelves. We'll likely never know why Apple left us in a land of solo dock connectors, but we'd take a peek at the source link before it's gone, as more recent Apple prototypes at auction tend to return to the source quickly.

The New York Times reports that Facebook has resumed its stealthy efforts to create a smartphone, apparently to assert its position in an Internet increasingly accessed via mobile devices, and to counter products and moves made by major competitors Google, Apple, Microsoft, and Amazon. The Times reports that Mark Zuckerberg has gotten personally involved in the project, which has recently landed several iPhone/iPad engineers from Apple. Wired ran a similar story a month ago, reporting that Facebook has ramped up its "Buffy" code-named collaboration with HTCon a phone which will probably be Android-based, support HTML5 and include a large touchscreen and high-quality camera (for Instagram). Facebook won't confirm or deny these reports.http://mobile.slashdot.org/story/12/...n-a-smartphone

LG has unveiled a new smartphone, which the firm claims has the worldâs first Full HD smartphone screen.
Featuring a display with a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution and a 440ppi pixel density, LGâs newest offering includes a display based on Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching technology. LG claims itâs this AH-IPS technology that provides high colour fidelity, wide viewing angles and rapid response speed.
âAs smartphones become increasingly valued for how well they do multimedia and with the rapid growth of LTE enabling faster large file transfers, our new 5-inch Full HD LCD panel is certain to prove a significant asset to the mobile market,â commented Sang-Deok Yeo, CTO and executive vice president of LG Display.
The introduction of Full HD will put the new smartphone ahead of the iPhone 4S in terms of pixel density, but with Apple looking set to announce the iPhone 5 at its WWDC conference in June, we wonder for how long.

If the HTC Status' dedicated Facebook button fell shy of satisfying your obsessive social networking needs, sit tight: the house of Zuckerberg may be building a slab of tech just for you. According to theNew York Times Bits blog, those old Facebook phone rumors are making a comeback. A handful of Facebook employees and engineers familiar with the matter reportedly say that the firm is collecting former Apple engineers, specifically, ones that worked on the iPhone and iPad. Like Zuckerberg said, mobile is the company's top focus, and one employee says the man at the top is afraid of getting overlooked in a sea of apps. "Mark is worried that if he doesn't create a mobile phone in the near future that Facebook will simply become an app on other mobile platforms." Facebook has focused on deep integration with other devices for some time, but a dedicated handset could take the freshly publiccompany in new directions. Reports suggest that the rumored device is still in its infancy, and there's no word on form factor or OS, of course. Up for some speculation? Check out the source link below for Bits' full take.

Mame4droid Reloaded v1.2 (MIPS test build) is released. MAME4droid Reloaded emulates arcade games supported by original MAME 0.134u4. This MAME4droid version is targeted to Dual-Core devices (1GHz and 512MB RAM minimum), because it is based on a high specs 2009 PC MAME build. Anyway don't expect arcade games of the 90 to work at full speed. With some games that are really bad optimized (like outrun or mk series) you will need at least a 1.5 ghz dual-core device. This is related to MAME build used, since it is targeted to high specs PC's as i said before. This version doesn't have an uml back end ARM dynamic recompiler, which means drivers based on high specs arcade CPUs won't be playable (it has not sense since this games will be slow in any case).
Mame4droid Reloaded Features:
- Save States
- Support for 2.1 and upper Android devices.
- Native support for Android Honeycomb tablets.
- Autorotate.
- HW Keys remapping.
- Touch Controller can be shown/hidden.
- Smooth image.
- Overlay Filters, scalines, CRT..
- Digital or Analog touch selectable.
- Animated touch stick or DPAD.
- Button Layout customizable control.
- iON's iCade and iCP (as iCade mode) external controllers supported.
- Wiimote support using WiiCrotroller Market app.
- Tilt Sensor as left/right.
- 1 to 6 buttons optionally shown.
- Options for video aspect ratio, scaling, rotate.
Mame4droid Reloaded v1.2 (MIPS test build) Changelog:
MAME4droid Reloaded 1.2.MIPS test build.
