Tesco has revealed that it will launch an Android smartphone by the end of the year.
Philip Clarke, Tesco’s chief executive, told BBC Radio 5 Live that the handset will be called the Hudl smartphone and will come with pre-installed Tesco services and feature hardware comparable to the Galaxy S5. While the device will run on Google’s Android operating system, specific details about its screen size or cost are currently unknown. Clarke did reveal that the Hudl smartphone will have ‘aggressive pricing’.
The smartphone will be part of the new Hudl range, the first product of which was the Hudl tablet, which has sold half a million units since its launch last year.
