Samsung is set to add to its portfolio of giant smartphones with its new Mega device, which will reportedly land in the UK in July.
Seemingly unhappy with having only the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note in its 'Enormous Smartphone' category, Samsung is set to one-up itself with the aptly named Galaxy Mega, which boasts a 6.3-inch screen.
In addition to a July release, multiple online retailers have begun pricing the device, with both Expansys and rival etailer Clove offering pre-orders of the device for £459.99.
Whilst that's a £100 discount on the newly launched Galaxy S4, the reduction comes with its own cost – diminished specifications.
The 6.3-inch display of the Mega is only 720p TFT, a significant downgrade of the AMOLED full HD screen used the the S4. Meanwhile, the front and rear camera of the Mega are only eight and 1.9 megapixels respectively.
A saving grace of the Mega is that it will still run the latest Android 4.2.2 operating system, and will be powered by an 3,200mAh battery – with size not exactly an issue with the Mega's hulking frame.
For those interested in the Mega, you've got until July to find some jeans with bigger pockets.
