Smartphone and computer giant has made $112m offer, reports suggest
Apple is poised to take control of Loewe AG, a publicly-listed manufacturer of large-screen LCD TVs priced above EUR 1,500.
It is speculated that Apple will assume control of the company as part of a wider plan to extend its dominance into the TV business. The offer on the table is believed to be about $112 million.
Apple already has significant market shares in MP3 Players, mobile phones and tablet computers. It has been speculated for months that the company will develop a full-size television that adheres to Apple’s recognisable design and software principals.
In a manner that echoes Apple’s abject policy on media handling, Loewe AG representatives cut off phone calls on several separate occasions when approached by Develop.
The company is expected to announce its equity sale to Apple by Friday.
