Looks to generate buzz via the small screen before the next addition of Grand Theft Auto lands.
Rockstar Games has launched a number of its hallowed games on Android and iOS over the past couple of years, acting as an easy way to generate cash from existing IP. GTA III, Max Payne and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City were all launched for around $5 on smartphones and tablets to coincide with their respective tenth anniversaries.
So, with the publisher's next big console game arriving in the form of GTA V on September 17th, it has sliced the price of its mobile titles to between $1.99-$2.99 until July 30th.
The move has likely been made to generate buzz among devout fans and newbies alike, with the promotion creating the potential to encourage mobile-only users or non-gamers to move over to PS3 or Xbox 360 when GTA V lands.
