Games coming to PlayStation Mobile will be subjected to a simplified rating system, says Sony. Developer relations exec Shane Bettenhausen called it "ESRB lite, PEGI lite, CERO lite," to reflect the streamlined nature of the system Sony has put together in collaboration with ratings boards. The new system will simplify the approval process by allowing developers to self-report content of their games, cutting out the need for ratings boards to dig through them, reports Joystiq. This should speed up the approval process, saving on time and the resources associated with more thorough processes. The PlayStation Mobile store (formally known as PlayStation Suite) is to go live on October 3, Sony confirmed earlier this week. It will launch with over 30 games for Android-based smartphones and tablets in Japan, the US and Europe.
