Sony has introduced a number of new products at Mobile World Congress 2014, including its new flagship smartphone and tablet, as well as the waterproof SmartBand.
The Xperia Z2 smartphone is a direct successor to the Xperia Z1. The new device comes with a 5.2-inch screen, 2.26GHz Snapdragon 801 SoC, 3GB of RAM, and front-facing speakers.
There’s a new tablet from Sony, also called the Xperia Z2, which appears to have most of the same internals as the smartphone, only packed into a 10.1-inch device. It has the same Snapdragon chipset, RAM and front-facing speaker design, but with a bigger battery.
Sony has also unveiled a mid-range device called the Xperia M2. This smartphone comes with a smaller 4.5-inch display than the new flagship, 1GB of RAM and a Quad Core 1.2GHz Cortex A7 SoC.
As well as tablets and smartphones, Sony has introduced the SmartBand SWR10, which will be available in 60 markets next month.
The SmartBand is a waterproof fitness tracker that can monitor sleep, receive notification alerts and control media playback.
It also has a ‘Lifelogging’ feature that lets you see how active you’ve been, where you’ve been, what pictures you’ve taken and how you’ve been ‘communicating with the world’. It lets you set activity goals and even makes recommendations to help inform future decisions.
The SmartBand works with any Android device and is set to cost around €99.
