The first release from Peter Molyneux’s new indie development studio 22 Cans will be released on August 22nd. Eurogamer reports that Curiosity will get a simultaneous release on iOS, Android and PC.
A few more details about the game were also revealed. It will see up to 1m players collectively chiselling away at a cube formed of 60m smaller cubes with the aim of attempting to reach the mysterious prize hidden at the centre.
And in typical style, Molyneux isn’t shy about hyping up the suspense.
"[It is] is so valuable, and so life-changingly important,” he insisted. "It's so amazing I think it will appear on news reports. It's not a dead cat, by the way."
The game hit the headlines in June when Molyneux revealed that amongst its DLC options will be a £50,000 download available only once. That gets you a diamond chisel, which has 100,000 times the power of the player’s default tool.
"It's an insane amount of money," he said of the DLC. "This is not a money-making exercise; it is a test about the psychology of monetisation."
Curiosity is Molyneux’s first title since he quit both his own studio Lionhead and its owner Microsoft back in March.
