Talk of overwhelming demand and component shortages wide of the mark as retail prepares for blockbuster sales day
iPad 2 platform holder Apple has insisted that the UK launch of the new tablet Mac will take places this Friday (March 25th) as planned.
The confirmation rounds off what should be an incredible day for technology and games retailers that could well bring about a record-breaking week of sales.
There had been rumours last week that the combined effects of both huge US demand and possible component shortages stemming from the disruption in Japan could force Apple to postpone the iPad 2's launch.
Not the case, it seems.
"Everything that is on the website still holds true," a spokesperson told TechRadar. "The website says March 25th and that's when it'll be."
This Friday will be a big day at retail. As well as the launch of both the iPad and Nintendo's 3DS, EA is also releasing hotly tipped console and PC shooter Crysis 2.
Other titles hitting shelves include LEGO Star Wars III, The Sims Medieval, PlayStation Move Heroes, Tomb Raider Trilogy, Zumba Fitness (on PS3) as well as host of 3DS games including Nintendogs + Cats, Pilotwings Resort, Ridge Racer 3D, PES 2011, Ghost Recon and Splinter Cell.
