The sixth generation iPod nano has been hacked by developer and hacker James Whelton. James was able to hack the nano by bypassing its cache comparison and installing a Springboard hack. For now, this only allows you to delete one of the pre-installed apps and create a blank spot. This may not seem like much, but it does demonstrate that the nano can be altered. James is quick to point out, however, that the nano has not been jailbroken, “I do not have root access over the device. I did not “install” an app. I figured out how to remove them and insert a blank space into the springboard.”
Mr. Whelton also found references to possible additions to the nano: “Next is the discovery in some of the device’s plists of reference to support of Movies, TV Shows, Apps, Games, vCards, Calendar events and so on
